The United States of America (USA), commonly known as the United States (U.S.) or America (/əˈmɛrɪkə/), is a federal republic[16][17] composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major self-governing territories, and various possessions.[fn 6] Forty-eight states and the federal district are contiguous and located in North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in the northwest corner of North America, bordered by Canada to the east and across the Bering Strait from Russia to the west. The state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific Ocean. The U.S. territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, stretching across nine official time zones. The extremely diverse geography, climate and wildlife of the United States make it one of the world's 17 megadiverse countries.[19]
At 3.8 million square miles (9.8 million km2)[20] and with over 324 million people, the United States is the world's third- or fourth-largest country by total area,[fn 7] and the third-most populous. The capital is Washington, D.C., and the largest city is New York City; twelve other major metropolitan areas—each with at least 4.5 million inhabitants—are Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Miami, Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Phoenix, and Riverside.

Due to popular demand, and thanks to YouTube removing my video length limit, this is the full episode in higher quality. I'll keep the old ones on for a while, but if you're linking to or embedding episodes, you're better off using these ones.
Grub Smith narrates a series following nightclub bouncers, as they open their doors to reveal how they police badly behaved, boozed-up Brits. A more realistic insight into door supervisors than the later Channel 4 documentary.

The Life of a Lady Law Lord: Baroness Brenda Hale
Lady Hale gave a lecture on Friday 8 February 2019 at Middlesex University London to deliver the Inaugural “Professor Brenda Barrett Lecture”, which she entitled “The Life of a Lady Law Lord”.
Professor Barrett in whose honour the lecture is given, is an Emeritus Professor of Law at Middlesex University. She was one of the first female Professors of Law in the UK and Ireland and former Head of School at Middlesex University. Prof Barrett is to this day, a leading authority on Health & Safety Law. Prof Barrett epitomises Middlesex University, as she joined its predecessor Hendon College, which went on to become Middlesex Polytechnic, before ultimately becoming Middlesex University.
Biography:
RT HON THE BARONESS HALE OF RICHMOND DBE PC LLD FBA
Lady Hale is the United Kingdom’s most senior judge. She became the first, and sadly the only, woman ‘Lord of Appeal in Ordinary’ in 2004, after a varied career as an academic lawyer, law reformer and judge. She was born in Leeds, educated at Richmond High School for Girls in North Yorkshire and Girton College, Cambridge (where she is now Visitor) and was called to the Bar by Gray’s Inn in 1969. She taught Law at Manchester University for 18 years, specialising in family and social welfare law, and also practised for a while at the Manchester Bar.
In 1984 she became the first woman to serve on the Law Commission, a statutory body which promotes the reform of the law. There she led the work of the family law team, resulting (among others) in the Children Act 1989 and the Mental Capacity Act 2005. She was also a founder member of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority and chair of its Code of Practice Committee from 1990 to 1994, when she was appointed a Judge of the Family Division of the High Court. She was promoted to the Court of Appeal of England and Wales in 1999 and in 2004 to the House of Lords. This was the top court for the whole United Kingdom, until the ‘Law Lords’ became the Justices of the newly established Supreme Court of the United Kingdom in 2009. She became Deputy President of the Court in 2013 and its President in 2017.
While at Manchester University she was joint founding editor of the Journal of Social Welfare and Family Law. She is author and co-author of a number of books, including Women and the Law (1984, to be reissued this year), The Family, Law and Society: Cases and Materials (6th edition 2009) and Mental Health Law (6th edition, 2017). She was a Trustee of the Nuffield Foundation from 1987 to 2002 and Chancellor of the University of Bristol from 2004 to 2016 (in which capacity she conferred degrees on thousands of students). She was Treasurer of Gray’s Inn in 2017 (where she called hundreds of students to the Bar). She also helped to establish the United Kingdom Association of Women Judges in 2004 and from 2010 to 2012 served as President of the International Association of Women Judges, a world-wide body of both men and women judges committed to equality and human rights for all.
In her home town of Richmond, North Yorkshire, she is a Freeman of the Company of Fellmongers and was its Master from 2017 to 2018; a Patron of the Richmondshire Landscape Trust, of the Richmondshire Museum and of the Richmond and the Dales branch of Soroptimists International; in January 2018, she was given the Freedom of Richmond by the Town Council.

The Lovely Eggs - This Decision
Buy/stream 'This Decision' here:
Music video produced/directed by Callum Scott-Dyson.
For the last two years The Lovely Eggs have sat back and watched England and the rest of the planet slowly eat itself. Their new album “I am Moron” is the result of their observations, a relentless analysis of a modern culture that is bringing the world to its knees.
“This Decision” is the the first single to be released on January 10th - an outright attack on greed and mindless consumerism and a fierce defence of a no frills lifestyle they have chosen to pursue. “This Decision” goes further than capturing the zeitgeist of Brexit Britain. It’s about choice and the lack of choice in society. This decision is all yours. Is it?
“I am Moron” is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2017 album “This is Eggland”. It is their second album co-produced and mixed by Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, MGMT, Tame Impala) and continues their journey through Eggland into the unknown.
Throughout their 13 year career, The Lovely Eggs have embraced isolation. Both metaphorically and geographically the married couple have chosen to shun the social conventions of normal life and dedicated their band and their life to the pursuit of what feels right.
Operating out of their hometown of Lancaster The Lovely Eggs are lonely pioneers and self confessed kings of idiocy. Working in an industry whose currency is money, success and nepotism, The Lovely Eggs want none of it. They call out everything fake and plastic about the music industry and demand you to re-evaluate on their terms. They’re undoubtedly the most real band in Britain, operating in a world when true authenticity is hard to find. They have also spent more time on hold to the Working Tax credit hotline than any other band on the planet.
“I Am Moron” was self recorded by the band in Lancaster (“The Twin Peaks of Northern England”) between Lancaster Musicians Co-op and their home. During the recording, Lancaster Musicians Co-op was threatened with closure so the band put their album on hold to fight the eviction.
While the band were writing the album they became fascinated by the Mars One program- a global project which aims to establish a permanent human settlement on Mars. Applicants are offered a one way ticket- never to see earth again. This fascinated Holly and David who drew parallels between this mission and their own isolation as a band.
Continuing the heaviness of “ This is Eggland” “I am Moron” brings more depth to their sound bringing with it a mix of heavy psych, pop and strangeness. Some songs flicker between an earthly realism and the otherworldly loneliness of a one way space mission. While in contrast, Insect Repellent launches a gonzo-style attack against the middle classes and Bearpit questions the essence of working class freedom.
With no booking agent, manager, record label or publisher The Lovely Eggs are truly independent. And this isn’t due to economics. This is by design. From day one. And support for them is snowballing. They are selling out bigger and bigger venues and more eggheads are joining them in their crusade against bullshit.
Released on limited edition 7” vinyl and accompanied by mind melting artwork designed by Casey Raymond, This Decision is a powerful harsh hit at reality. The Lovely Eggs say it how it is. They’ve never been afraid to swim against the current and now they’ve got an army of fans behind them.
