WHO ARE WE?
We are a small publishing company (Vision) based in Taipei. We produce an English magazine (Travel in Taiwan) introducing you to Taiwan as a travel destination. Read it! Lot of useful information. We also have a website with lots of articles about Taiwan. Visit it! We try to make a video or two every week. Let us know what you think about this channel and what you would like to see about Taiwan. All the best to you!
From Travel in Taiwan magazine 2018-5-6:
Tainan Judicial Museum
The Tainan Judicial Museum (No. 307, Sec. 1, Fuqian Rd., West Central Dist.; judicial.gov.tw/museum/; Chinese) complex, inaugurated as the Taiwan District Court in 1914, is considered one of Taiwan’s three supreme Japanese-era works of architecture.
Blueprint Culture and Creative Park
This is a narrow-lane complex of renovated simple, cement-walled dormitories originally built by the Japanese to house judicial-authority employees. The dorm buildings are today home to an attractive cluster of artisanal outlets and creative eateries.
Little Secret
The “hidden-away” Little Secret (No. 17, Ln. 689, Sec. 1, Ximen Rd., South Dist.; facebook.com/littlesecret17) restaurant is the go-to foodie haunt here. The emphasis is on bringing cultural-creative flourishes to familiar Taiwanese noodle classics, each dish celebrating a regional icon ingredient.
Old Taiwan Magistrate Residence
The Old Taiwan Magistrate Residence (No. 1, Weimin Street, East Dist.; otmr.com.tw), built in 1900, was used as a residence by visiting Japanese royals, most notably the future Emperor Hirohito during his 1923 grand Taiwan inspection.
The Place Tainan
This new boutique hotel is situated at one end of a monstrous block-style retail/entertainment/leisure complex. The contemporary-décor hotel has minimalist-theme guestrooms with strong black and white schemes. hotelroyal.com.tw/tainan
Lin Mo-Niang Park
Overlooking the south side of Anping Harbor is a giant 16m-high hilltop statue of Lin Mo-Niang located in the breezy Lin Mo-Niang Park. Lin was the young mortal maiden who became the immortal Mazu, Goddess of the Sea, protector of seafarers.
Eternal Golden Castle
This “castle,” actually a fort (No. 3, Guangzhou Rd., Anping Dist.), was built by the Chinese in the 1870s as protection against grasping colonial powers. Massive bastions are found at the ends of the four high, thick walls, with a moat making enemy access even more difficult.
Taijiang National Park Visitor Center
Taijiang National Park (tjnp.gov.tw) is a watery world of estuaries, sandbars, tidal flats, old irrigation canals and small-craft shipping channels, mangrove swamps, wetlands, and aquaculture farms. The white-walled buildings of the visitor complex, built on stilts above retired fish farms, resemble traditional fishermen dwellings and circle a faux “lagoon.”
Anping Fort
This stronghold, originally called Fort Zeelandia, was built at the north-end head of a great sometimes sandbar/sometimes silt island (at high tide) that jutted out from the mainland.
Anping Tree House
Old Tait & Company Merchant House (No. 108, Gubao St., Anping Dist.) and, directly behind, the Anping Tree House, were both built by a British trading firm after the Second Opium War forced China to open ports to Western trade in 1858. The treehouse, originally conjoined warehouses, has been completely overrun by massive banyan trees, creating a fairytale maze.
Chou’s Shrimp Rolls
This restaurant (No. 125 Anping Street, Anping Dist.) is one of the best restaurants in Anping serving shrimp rolls, a local the delicacy.
Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields
Just south of the fishing village of Beimen are the Jingzaijiao Tile-paved Salt Fields, Taiwan’s oldest salt fields, created in 1818. This site is a showcase example of how the bottom of evaporation ponds were paved with pottery shards, producing cleaner salt and making harvesting easier.
Cycling Around Taiwan - Bikepacking Route One - Huan-Dao Bicycle Touring - 環島1號線
Join me on this 1000km bicycle tour around Taiwan on the Haun-Dao (環島). I took the counterclockwise route down the west coast, over the mountainous Shouka climb, and north through the East Rift Valley. Stops at the Mr. Brown scenic area and Taroko Gorge made for an unforgettable trip.
Bike Rental:
mathewbike.com
Mathew and May went out of their way to secure me a bike. Typically you need 2-4 weeks advance reservation. They found me one in about 7 days. Luckily I had no firm departure date. If you are picky about gear then consider bringing your own bike. All the rental bike companies in Taiwan use basic aluminum frames which are adequate for light loads; like a tent, sleeping bag, and clothes.
Season:
Based on the information I read on Paul & Anja's website (link below) I decided on late October and early November. I experienced only two days of rain, but sunburn became a problem. There were rainy forecasts for solid weeks on the east coast before leaving Taipei. This is how I decided on the counterclockwise route. The west coast forecast was dry as a bone. The best antidote for bad weather is more time and a flexible departure schedule.
Distances:
You will hear me say at the end “the tour totaled right near 1000km”. My distance counter got wet on the last leg of the trip and stopped working. I have a picture of it at 985km before it reset itself. That last leg was over 60km so the total was well over 1000km. However the counter started at 85km from cycling around Taipei at the beginning. A trip to Tamsui and Bitan were good warm-ups before the tour. Getting over jet lag is a concern depending where you are from. So, plan for 60-100 km per day over 9 cycling days and you will make the trip on schedule if you follow the downloadable guide below. There are several tangent paths off route one that you can take, including the southernmost point of the island, Kenting, and Taroko Gorge. Whatever you do, don’t skip Taroko.
Other notes:
If you think about deleting the entire west coast from your itinerary, I won’t blame you. Consider the eastern regions between Taipei, Taitung, and Kaohsiung. If you are into hiking, Taroko gorge and the surrounding areas offer several days of activities.
Most cyclist stay at hotels every night on this tour, so camping equipment is not totally necessary. In late October and early November there were always hotel vacancies. The hotel strategy also gets you close to all the exciting food options throughout the country. This is not to be missed! That said, I like to camp when the opportunity arises. The light equipment demands make Taiwan a dream for the road cyclist. Roads are smooth and maintained at a high level. An experienced rider could make the entire journey with a change of clothes and a credit card.

Tianjin - The Largest Coastal City Part I
Tianjin - The Largest Coastal City Part I - Tianjin (Chinese: 天津; pinyin: Tiānjīn; Mandarin: [tʰjɛn˥ tɕin˥] ( listen); Tianjinese: /tʰiɛn˨˩tɕin˨˩/~[tʰjɛ̃̀ɦɪ̀ŋ]; Postal map spelling: Tientsin) is a metropolis in northern China and one of the five national central cities of the People's Republic of China (PRC). It is governed as one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of the PRC, and is thus under direct administration of the central government. Tianjin borders Hebei Province and Beijing Municipality, bounded to the east by the Bohai Gulf portion of the Yellow Sea. Part of the Bohai Economic Rim, it is the largest coastal city in northern China.
The land where Tianjin is located today was created in ancient times by sedimentation of various rivers entering the sea at Bohai Gulf, including the Yellow River which entered the sea in this area at one point. Before this time, it was open sea.
The opening of the Grand Canal during the Sui Dynasty prompted the development of Tianjin into a trading center. Until 1404, Tianjin was called Zhigu (直沽), or Straight Port. In that year, the Yongle Emperor renamed the city Tianjin meaning the Heavenly Ford to indicate that the Emperor (the Son of Heaven) forded the river at that point.
Tianjin is located along the west coast of the Bohai Gulf, looking out to the provinces Shandong and Liaoning across those waters, bordered by Beijing 120 kilometres (75 mi) to the northwest, and except for the east, is surrounded on all sides by Hebei. With a latitude ranging from 38° 34' to 40° 15' N, and longitude ranging from 116° 43' to 118° 04' E, the total area is 11,860.63 km2 (4,579.41 sq mi).
Tianjin features a four season, monsoon-influenced climate, typical of East Asia, with cold, windy, very dry winters reflecting the influence of the vast Siberian anticyclone, and hot, humid summers, due to the monsoon. Spring in the city is dry and windy, occasionally seeing sandstorms blowing in from the Gobi Desert, capable of lasting for several days. More Info:

It is near Hakata station and it takes around 5mins on foot.
There are Canal City, many street stalls(Tonkotsu noodle, fried food etc.), the location of this hotel is so good for sight-seeing, off course business.
The pictures in this movie is bit of old and filmed in 2012.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Commuter rail, also called suburban rail, is a passenger rail transport service that primarily operates between a city centre and middle to outer suburbs beyond 15 km (10 miles) and commuter towns or other locations that draw large numbers of commuters—people who travel on a daily basis. Trains operate following a schedule at speeds varying from 50 to 225 km/h (30 to 140 mph). Distance charges or zone pricing may be used.
Non-English names include Treno suburbano in Italian, Cercanías in Spanish, Rodalies in Catalan, Proastiakos in Greek, S-Bahn in German (although Regionalbahn or stopping services occasionally also operate as commuter trains), Train de banlieue in French, Příměstský vlak or Esko in Czech, Elektrichka in Russian, Pociąg podmiejski in Polish and Pendeltåg in Swedish. The development of commuter rail services has become popular, with the increased public awareness of congestion, dependence on fossil fuels, and other environmental issues, as well as the rising costs of owning, operating and parking automobiles.

SUMMARY
=======
This is a list of technology centers throughout the world. Governmental planners and business networks like to use the name silicon or valley to describe their own areas as a result of the success of Silicon Valley in California. Nevertheless, there are a few qualitative differences between these places, and metrics may be applied to measure their dominance.
These metrics include:
How much and to what extent public and/or private research and development funds are spent in the zones
What percentage of local employment is technology related.
If the zone is mainly government funded or is mainly corporate driven (or both)
If mainly corporate, how much revenue and profit and which corporates have headquarters there.
If mainly corporate, how much venture capital has been made available to companies in the zone.
What supporting higher educational institutions are located in nearby.
