An Sibin Irish Pub -- Queen East Restaurant in Toronto
An Sibin Pub brings A Touch of Ireland to Riverside. Affectionately known to neighbours as The Shebeen, this Irish pub opened its doors in late August of 2012, with a brand new high-end interior, an exciting music line-up, and the warm, true-to-heart hospitality the Irish are well known for. The name, pronounced Ahn-She-Been, means an illegal, illicit drinking establishment and/or shady bar, and refers to Ireland's historic after-hours speakeasies. Don't let the name fool you, this is a very family friendly establishment. You will often find young families enjoying an early dinner, a weekend brunch, and a Live Irish Session.
2009 All Canadian Oyster Eating Championship - Champion Oyster Eater
First Annual All Canadian Oyster Eating Championship held at Ceili Cottage in Leslieville, Toronto, at 1301 Queen Street East.
This year's winner is Leslieville's Oyster Guts Linda, taking the prize of a trip to Ireland with Patrick (owner of Ceili Cottage) for the World Championships. She will be representing Canada, from what I understand, after taking 148 oysters in 3 minutes.
Well done, champ!

One Shot with Kevin Brauch - The Ceili Cottage Irish Manhattan
Using a vanilla infused whisky, Kevin Brauch (Thirsty Traveler, Iron Chef America) mixes his version of an Irish Manhattan for the Ceili Cottage and his hangover.
IRISHMAN IN NEW YORK COCKTAIL by Kevin Brauch
2-1/2 oz. 'two-week' vanilla infused* Irish Whiskey (we used Jameson)
1/2 oz. sweet Vermouth
Several dashes of Angostura Bitters (or Fee Bros. Old Fashioned Bitters)
Orange twist garnish
Maraschino cherry garnish
Build your cocktail in a lowball (rocks) glass over a few large pieces of ice. Add ingredients, stir well, garnish, drink and enjoy!
*'two-week' vanilla infusion
Take several vanilla bean pods and score the pods up and down, side to side with a sharp knife. Add to the whiskey - shake vigorously every time you walk past the bottle. Test weekly. When it's to your satisfaction you have a great smooth balanced vanilla cocktail.
