Colombia, Capital City of Bogota, riding on a bus
Bus ride in Bogota
COLOMBIA: Bogota/Cartagena/Santa Marta
Spending my 2018 Christmas holiday in Colombia. It's my first time visiting South America and Colombia was a great introduction. I started in the Capital of Bogota where I learned about Colombia's rich history and culture doing the 3 hour graffiti bike tour, viewed the city from on top of Monserrate mountain, celebrated the national holiday Dia de las velitas which translates to ( Day of little candles) and went to marque de la sal (Salt Cathedral). I then headed down to the northern coast of Cartagena to see the walled city called old town, the fortress of Castillo San Felipe de Barajas, watched the sunset at Cafe del Mar and bathed in the live mud volcano of El Totumo. My final stop was Santa Marta where I hung out at the popular night life spot parque de los novios, tubed down the Palomino river and spent a day hiking and enjoying the beautiful beaches of Tayrona National Park.

COLOMBIA, The Warmth Of A Smile
Our tour starts in the capital, Bogotá, before heading southward across the Andes as far as Popayàn. We then head back north to the coastline of the Caribbean Sea. Our journey takes us through some fabulous landscapes while stopping off to discover cities such as Cali, Medellin and Cartagena. Not forgetting the rural regions and encounters with Amerindians, plus some prestigious archaeological sites like the Ciudad Perdida (lost city).
Our journey is by road, not by plane despite the long distances involved. This way we get a closer look at the daily life of local inhabitants and take in the wide variety of natural landscapes.
Colombia is a vast country sandwiched between South and Central America.
Notorious for its social and economic problems (poverty, drug-trafficking and armed militia forces), Colombia is actually a little-known country in that the majority of received images more often than not filter through news media reporting. What do we know about the country aside form the themes that make headline news in newspapers?
Colombia happens to be a very rich country in terms of both landscapes and culture.

Quality of Life in Bogota, how did we feel there?
Tacha will talk about topics like people, activities, climate and more.
Bogota was way more than we expected it to be, we knew that Bogota is a huge city, but we didn't know that we will actually like it. We are more into smaller cities where you don't have so many people. But Bogota did its magic.
We were lucky to have BertJan and Maria our partners in Bogota, to show us around. They gave us the best possible experience there, by taking us to different places.
We even went a little out of Bogota to little villages which were amazing, that surely gave us an even better perspective of everything. You can be so near to such a huge city like Bogota but still living in a small town/village.
We enjoyed our stay a lot and will surely be back soon, to see even more of those beautiful landscapes and cultural monuments.
If you are interested to experience Bogota just as we did, then check out the following link with our relocation services in Bogota:
Don't hesitate to contact us with any Expat questions you might have. No matter if you've got questions about Medellin, Bogota, Santa Marta or Colombia in general. We would love to support you on your journey.

Medellin vs. Bogota
Another day another city comparison, today we will compare living in Medellin vs. living in Bogota.
Both cities have their own benefits when living there, but what are the biggest differences between Medellin and Bogota?
As always Sam shares his own opinion, the things that he claims to be a pro or a con for a city might be different for you. But since he can not talk for everyone, he sticks to his own opinion.
Medellin and Bogota are both great cities to live in as an Expat. The city comparison should help to make your decision easier, in case you're thinking of relocating to one of those cities.
Bogota is the capital city of Colombia and ha around double of the population Medellin has.
It is a pretty international city and has a lot of corporate companies located there. Due to that you see more foreigners and here more different languages from all over the world. But is such a huge city for you?
Medellin is famous for its eternal spring weather (for us even eternal summer)
Medellin is a really developed city and has a lot of entrepreneurship in its air. It's a fast-growing city and has a lot of great spots to live in. But because the city isn't as big as Bogota there are not so many options to live in compared to Bogota. And a lot of great activities are further away. Is the city of Medellin right for you?
Watch the video and find out if one of those cities fit you better.
Don't hesitate to contact us with any Expat questions you might have. No matter if you've got questions about Medellin, Bogota, Santa Marta or Colombia in general. We would love to support you on your journey.

COLOMBIA BUS TRIP: MEDELLIN TO SALENTO | Eileen Aldis
In today's travel day vlog we take a bus from the large Colombian city of Medellín to Salento, a small town in the heart of coffee-growing country. We were told the journey would take somewhere between six and nine hours, depending on traffic and road closures. It was a huge, comfortable bus with a bathroom, air conditioning, and reclining seats - score! We were lucky it wasn't very full so we could really spread out. My favourite part was when different vendors boarded the bus at various times to offer food and drinks. That's how I got lucky enough to eat THE BEST arepa I've ever had in my life! It was still warm and the man said they'd just come out of the hot oven in his home. Absolute bliss! Too bad I had to share with Marc ;) I admit I was a little unsure about how I'd feel after a whole day on a bus on the winding roads through the Andes mountains but it was the best decision! I truly didn't feel the time and spent the entire bus ride with my headphones on, looking out the window at the beautiful scenery, wondering how I was so lucky to be there. Given the choice, I would recommend driving from Medellín to Salento because it's gorgeous and provides a great opportunity to see rural Colombia and get a taste for the vastness of the Andes. After eight hours, our bus let us off at the terminal in Armenia where we boarded a smaller bus that took us all the way to Salento (about an hour's drive more) down the winding hills into the valley. When we arrived we got let off on the side of the road and couldn't see many cars or people, let alone taxis. I'd been told that the taxis in Salentos are all Jeeps so we kept our eyes peeled while we mentally calculated how long it'd take to walk. We were really lucky that a girl walked by and asked if she could help us. We said we were looking for a taxi and she said she hadn't seen many but wished us the best. Less than five minutes later I saw a Jeep driving towards us and jumped out into the road to flag it down, flapping my arms. Turns out, I didn't need to! The Jeep stopped and guess who jumped out the back? The girl we'd just met! She'd seen a taxi down the road and got in to show the driver where we were. We were so thankful for her help and overwhelmed, as one often is, at the absolute kindness of strangers. We loaded our things into the Jeep, which was no ordinary Jeep - it was the coolest Jeep I'd ever seen. Our driver told us it was a 1950's 'Willy's' - in mint condition. WOW. We drove about fifteen minutes out of town to our hostel where we were grateful to check in and get to sleep after a long day of travel. I can't wait to explore Salento more and hope you enjoy this road trip as much as we did!

Welcome to Colombia
Biodiversity is the variety of life on Earth. According to the historical, spatial and temporal drivers Colombia has been choose as the second country most biodiverse in the world after Brazil ( One of the reasons for that is Colombia’s location in the tropics. In this zone there isn’t a strong seasonal variation, as in other regions, creating a balance where biodiversity can develop in its maximum expression.
Colombia has too much to offer. It has 9,100 endemic species, 60% of the paramo ecosystem on Earth. In the ranking of biodiversity, Colombia is the first in orchids and birds, second in amphibians and plants, third in palm trees and fourth in mammals. You can do nature tourism in Colombia ( as bird watching, and at the same time you will be helping the development and progress of touristic Colombian regions and providers who maintain biodiversity in Colombia (

Colombian Trip / Vlog / Viaje a Colombia
Hi guys, I went to Colombia to visit my family a few months ago. It started when I received a phone call from my mom telling me that my niece was doing really bad so I decided to travel as I didn’t know when I would be able to travel again. I wanted to share this video with you as I want you to know that there is more than what you see from me on tv. Although some of you believe I’m a narcissist no matter what I post, I want to show a different side of me as this time in Colombia warmed my heart. I told you before I would be donating part of what I make from selling my calendars. During my visit, I was able to buy gifts for the kids suffering from cancer at the hospital where my niece is doing her chemotherapy. The kids were really happy with their gifts and I’m going to keep helping them through their battles! I hope you guys like it. Thank you for watching!

Hola chicos, fui a Colombia a visitar a mi familia hace unos meses.
