Llanwrtyd Wells Holiday Cottage - Stunning Farmhouse | Ffermdy Llanwrtyd
This Llanwrtyd Wells Holiday Cottage is detached and set on a plot of land aross from another holiday cottage (Llety Llanwrtyd) located about 1.5 miles from the small town of Llanwrtyd Wells. Self proclaimed as the smallest town in the UK it has several great local pubs a few places to eat and some small shops.
Llanwrtyd lies between the Brecon Breacons and the Elan Valley in a area of outstanding natural beauty and wilderness. The cottage is within a beautiful valley that has been classed a site of special scientific interest due to the diverse range of many rare birds, animals and plants.
Right in the heart of Wales, this Llanwrtyd Wells accommodation is the perfect location for exploring the Brecon Beacons, Cambrian Mountains and the hills, valleys and forests that are the great outdoors of Mid Wales, as well as the nearby towns of Builth Wells, Llandovery and Brecon. In Victorian times, Llanwrtyd Wells was a fashionable spa town and many of its hotels date back to that time.
The area around Llanwrtyd Wells is full of natural beauty and breathtaking scenery, making it an ideal centre for walking, mountain biking, bird watching and touring. As you drive through Mid Wales it is often possible to spot a red kite, one of Britain’s rarest birds. There are plenty of options for walking and hiking nearby in the Irfon Forest and around the Llyn Brianne Reservoir, an artificial lake which was created in the 70′s when the River Towy was dammed. At times of low rainfall, it is sometimes possible to see the roofs of the houses which had to be flooded in order for the dam to go ahead.
There is a lot going on in Llanwrtyd Wells throughout the year, so if you are looking for something a little bit different, then this is the place to come. This Mid Wales town is the home of the Man versus Horse Marathons, the World Bog Snorkeling Championships and the Real Ale Ramble.

At about 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday the 10th of February 2016 I met a friend in ‘The Cottage’, a pleasant and friendly pub in Saint Mary’s Street, Cardiff, Wales. We had begun to enjoy our drinks and our conversation when we saw a large group of young adults streaming in. Almost all of them wore red rugby shirts so I assumed they were Welsh rugby supporters who were still in Cardiff after the Wales - Ireland rugby game on the previous Sunday, the 7th. of February. However, when I spoke to them I was quite surprised to hear that they were all from Barcelona and were speaking what I assumed to be Catalan among themselves. However, they also spoke very good English and told us that they had played a game of rugby again a local team in Barry, a seaside town about 12 miles from Cardiff. I did not ask them who had won.
They were indeed a very lively and entertaining group of visitors so I made a few video recordings which I am pleased to present here.

KELVEDON HATCH PUB WALK (13/7/17)
I had some time to kill before work on a Thursday so I headed out to a local village to do a 3.5 mile pub based walk around Kelvedon Hatch and Doddinghurst. It was only 10 minutes drive from my house and 5 minutes from where I work. Yet I saw places I had never seen before, thus proving that you can explore and have a mini adventure right on your doorstep. Sort of!
Apologies for the lack of focus in the woodland sections of the walk, the lighting was poor and my phone camera doesn't like forests, unless it's on selfie mode. Either I need a better camera or I just need to brush up on my filming skills. More like both!
