Heavy Rains Cascade Across Mid Atlantic United States
According to Reuters, heavy rains are drenching the mid-Atlantic United States.
The rains have caused flight delays and flashing floods, forming sinkholes throughout the region.
The National Weather Service issued flood warnings from southern New York state to eastern North Carolina, while flooding in Pennsylvania prompted Hersheypark and ZooAmerica to close for the day.
The weather service estimated that the mid-Atlantic can expect between 3 and 5 inches of rain on July 23rd, after 7 inches fell over the weekend.

US prepares for snow and bitter cold
Up to two inches of snow fell overnight in Indianapolis, causing problems for commuters on Tuesday morning. More snow fell in areas south-east of the Indianapolis metro area.
All lanes of I-65 (northbound and southbound) have been closed between Memphis in southern Indiana and Taylorsville near Columbus due to several crashes.
The US east coast is bracing for the second major winter storm of the year, with up to 12in (30cm) of snow, blowing wind and bitter cold forecast.

US east coast hit with heavy snow and bitter cold.
The US east coast has been hit by the second major winter storm of the year, with up to 12in (30cm) of snow, strong winds and bitter cold forecast.
Even before the first flakes had fallen, US government offices in Washington DC and schools in several states were closed pre-emptively.
As snow fell along major motorways along the US east coast authorities warned of hazardous road conditions.
And more than 3,000 flights have already been cancelled in the US.
Another 800 flights were pre-emptively cancelled for Wednesday and Amtrak began to cut back train services on Tuesday afternoon along its popular north-eastern route.
'Dangerously cold'
The storm comes two weeks after a weather pattern known as the polar vortex brought heavy snow and record low temperatures to the eastern half of the US.
Perilous conditions stretched for 1,000 miles (1,600km) from Kentucky to Massachusetts on Tuesday, slowing traffic and sparking winter storm warnings.
Washington DC is expected to see its heaviest snow fall in three years. The White House cancelled an afternoon press briefing and a meeting of President Barack Obama's commission on electoral administration.
But the US Supreme Court remained open to hear arguments.
Temperatures across the eastern US are expected to be 10 to 25 degrees colder than average on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the US National Weather Service.
Behind the storm there will be very cold temperatures, Chris Vaccaro, a spokesman for the weather service told the BBC, with temperatures around -18C (0F) in some areas.
It will be dangerously cold when you factor in the wind, he added. Wind chills are expected to make it feel as cold as -26C.
Gridlock was reported on New York City highways, with commuters reporting drive times of quadruple their normal duration.
I just want to get to the Bronx, driver Peter Neuwens told the Associated Press news agency. It's a big place. Why can't I get there?
The weather has also affected New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's second inauguration. Organisers have cancelled the party scheduled for Tuesday night on Ellis Island in New York Harbor.
Both chambers of Delaware's General Assembly cancelled sessions on Tuesday as the snowstorm approached and Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick postponed his annual State of the State address.
Transportation officials in Pennsylvania reduced speeds on motorways and other major roads. A spokeswoman told the Associated Press news agency the state had already spent more than half of its $189m (£115m) winter weather budget.
The storm has already been blamed for one death on Tuesday after a car in Maryland slid into the path of a lorry. The driver was thrown from the vehicle.

CATSKILL — Welcome home.
It’s a short phrase that means a lot to many who are returning home from serving in the military overseas.
And for three soldiers — two of them siblings — from Greene County, Ulster County and the Capital Region, they received a hero’s welcome in a big way.
U.S. Army Reservists David Lyons and his brother Sean Lyons, both of Kiskatom, and their friend Dan Lansing flew into Stewart Airport in Newburgh on Friday and received a well-deserved welcome-home once they reached Gallagher’s Garage in Catskill.
The Lyons brothers were deployed in January of this year for 11 months in Afghanistan serving in Operation Spartan Shield.
The operation aimed to preserve free flow of resources through key shipping lanes, defend the homeland against the threat of terrorism and extremism and prevent of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
“It was a great surprise for them to be home,” said David Lyons’ wife, Amanda. “They weren’t due home until March.”
The soldiers and their families were escorted off the New York State Thruway by state police. Greene County Sheriff’s deputies escorted them from the edge of the county line to Gallagher’s Garage in Catskill where multiple fire departments including Palenville, Kiskatom, Centerville and Saxton were there for embraces and handshakes.
“We do our best to honor veterans coming home from service, especially if they are part of the fire department,” said Kevin Lennon, of Catskill.
“Driving on our way up we passed fire districts were showing support and out waving flags,” Lyons said. “It was pretty cool.”
David Lyons is from the town of Catskill, Sean Lyons is from Saugerties and Lansing is from Albany. Lansing and David are specialists. Sean is a corporal. All three are a part of the 417th Engineering Company based in Bullville, New York — a small Orange County community in the town of Crawford.
“It was really great and honorable and came out and did such a nice job and on short notice and without a lot of prep time,” Amanda Lyons said. “We only had a day or two to really get everything situated.”
Their first stop after greeting their families? Getting chicken parmigiana from Village Pizza on Main Street in the village of Catskill, Amanda said.
“We’re just planning to spend time with family at home and trying to enjoy each others’ company,” Amanda said about what the family plans to do next.
This was Sean and David’s first deployment. This was Lansing’s second.
“I want to wish all the other [military] families ‘Merry Christmas,’” Lyons said. “It is a relief to for anyone to have their soldiers home and safe. But, there are a few soldiers that have extended deployment, and I wish them safe travels as well.”
700 Pound Snake Pulled out of Lake in North Carolina
Giant 700 pound snake caught in lake in Proctor, North Carolina. The giant man eating python was measured at 98 feet long. Police were contacted to see if there have been any recently filed missing person reports as a snake this big could have surely eaten a human.
This giant snake is massive and just gorgeous, but it didn't take long to find out that the STORY behind it... was fake, just another hoax.
While the image is indeed real, I think the size of the giant snake could have been exaggerated due to the camera angle
Nevertheless, this snake is still huge, but where did it come from? The markings on it's skin looks similar to that of a reticulated python native to Southeast Asia. After playing around with a little Google translate, the mystery was finally solved.
This giant python came from Indonesia and after some rough translating, it turns out that it was discovered this last Thanksgiving near the village of Belinyu City. It was found by accident by a group of construction workers who severely injured the reptile while knocking down a large dead tree in which the python was sleeping inside of. The workers put the dying snake out of it's misery and buried it.
It's sad to see such an incredible animal killed, especially one that could have been a new world record size. I wish there were more pictures so we could get a better idea of just how large it was.
I really enjoyed learning about this amazing snake, if you guys have any cool wildlife stories or interesting animals that you think I might enjoy, tell me about it on Facebook
