Great Yorkshire Air Show 2015, Leeds East Airport, Church Fenton, Yorkshire, England - 26/09/15
The Great Yorkshire Air Show 2015 took place at Leeds East Airport (formerly RAF Church Fenton) on the 26th September, 2015. Approximately 20,000 people turned out to see a dazzling array of mostly ex-military aircraft being flown in a variety of aerial displays and flypasts.
The event itself was mostly fantastic, however problems gaining vehicle access to the Airport site resulted in thousands of people (including myself) missing the beginning of the aerial displays, hence this film begins approximately half way through the air show. In actual fact the final 3.8 miles to the car park took an agonising 3 hours to cover, severely bringing into question the some of the wider event management capabilities of the organisers.
With the above criticisms expressed, I must say that what I did see of the show from approximately 15:00 onwards, was fantastic. The headline act being Avro Vulcan XH-558 which really wooed a very expectant and appreciative audience. Knowing that this aircraft is entering retirement next year made this display a very emotional one indeed for those watching.
Prior to the Vulcan's arrival this film features displays and flypasts from (amongst others): Wildcat Aerobatics, Two Ship Gnats, a P-51 Mustang, Spitfire, and a Hughes Loach helicopter. After the Vulcan display the film features a number of aircraft taking-off and leaving Leeds East Airport.
In summary, the entertainment on offer at the Great Yorkshire Air Show 2015 was superb, a huge thank you to all of the pilots and support teams involved. Personally speaking, within seconds of the Vulcan's arrival the angst of being sat in a near stationary car for 3 hours disappeared.

Vulcan XH558, Yorkshire Air Show, Leeds East Airport, Church Fenton, Yorkshire, England: 26/09/15
The Avro Vulcan is a jet-powered delta wing strategic bomber, which was operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF) from 1956 until 1984. Since retirement by the RAF one aircraft registered XH558, named The Spirit of Great Britain has been restored for use in display flights and air shows.
This film features Avro Vulcan XH558 performing dazzling aerial displays to a very appreciative audience at the Yorkshire Air Show, which took place at Leeds East Airport on the 26th of September, 2015. The display begins with the Vulcan being accompanied by a pair of Gnats, before the Vulcan's solo display includes flypasts in a range of positions including with bomb bay doors open, wheels down, wings tipped and soaring and absolutely roaring into the sky. At the end of the display the audience clap and cheer as XH558 flies off into the sun.

The destruction of church Fenton
Opened in 1937, it saw the peak of its activity during the years of the Second World War, when it served within the defence network of fighter bases of the RAF providing protection for the Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield And Humberside industrial regions.
During September 1940 it became home to the first RAF Eagle squadron of American volunteers being No. 71 Squadron RAF initially with the Brewster Buffalo I for one month before changing to the Hawker Hurricane I. The airfield was also home to both the first all-Canadian and all-Polish squadrons, with No. 242 Squadron RAF for the Canadians and No. 306 Squadron RAF for the Polish.
