Day Trip to the Jersey Shore | Summer Vacation Vlog 2019
Summer is certainly my favorite season...mainly because of my memories of family fun at the Jersey shore. Wildwood, NJ is my go to for a day trip to the Jersey shore for weekend getaway ideas near me! Independence Day is quickly approaching so it is time to make our plans for staying at the Jersey shore and things to do in Wildwood NJ. A walk down memory lane is the perfect Summer vacation vlog 2019, in this review of our incredible city of brotherly love, Philadelphia!
“Watch the tram car please!” Anyone from New Jersey knows that voice and it probably brings them memories of the Wildwood boardwalks. For me, summers at the shore are nostalgic...I reminisce about jumping in ocean waves, walking on the boardwalk, riding on ferris wheel, and eating more than enough junk food - that is Summer in Wildwood. Just under two hours from Philly, Wildwood is a resort beach town on the New Jersey coast. It is known for its sandy beaches and boardwalk piers. It also happens to be well-known for the Sightseer tram car that screams get out of way, in an oh so pleasant manner. Since the last few months have literally flown by, why not jump in the car and hit the expressway?
I booked a suite at the most charming little bed and breakfast, named Sea Gypsy, located in North Wildwood. To my utter surprise it was two blocks from the boardwalk - score! I could literally park my car in the reserved parking area and walk to the beach and that is exactly what I did! After sleeping in just a bit, I got up and headed out to enjoy some seriously awesome french toast at the infamous Doo-Wop Coffee Shop in Wildwood Crest. A staple among Wildwood locals, this delightful little (and I do mean little) coffee shopped served everything tasty for breaky. After filling up, I headed back to my B&B, grabbed a chair from the main lobby and headed to the ocean. The weather was perfect. Sunny, blue skies and white sand as far as the eye could see. The water was clean and clear and could not get enough of it. After spending all day out there, I headed back to catch a quick nap and get ready for more fun on the boardwalk. The boardwalk is still the same - cheap t-shirt stores, the best pizza shops, Kohr’s ice cream (an absolute must) and everyone’s favorite, Morey’s Piers. Besides Wildwood’s wide beaches, the piers are what really bring in the crowds. We are talking old school rides like ferris wheels, tea cups, and even bumper cars. I did notice a few updates with Ripley’s Believe it or Not museum and an Aquarium that features sharks. Who knew? Walking the boardwalk and piers brought back many fond memories of family and friends, which I hope to continue.
Being such a quick drive from Philly, Wildwood should definitely be on your list for next Summer’s adventures. As much as I love this city, it was much needed time away from the hustle and bustle. What a wonderful way to end one season and prepare for a new season to be filled with fun and adventure! If you are like me and have memories of Wildwood or any other Jersey shore, please comment below...I would love to hear your stories whether old or new!
