About Āmua
Āmua is a 2014 semi-autobiographical short film that follows the story of Teina, a 17-year-old boy who, despite his big heart and big dreams, is fast becoming the hopeless product of a destructive and volatile South Auckland upbringing. Blessed with an opportunity to play for one of Australia’s most prestigious Rugby League schools, Teina finds himself struggling to release the ghetto temptations and attitudes of his past and secure a scholarship that will ultimately save him from a failed future.
The film was written and directed by New Zealand filmmaker Apirana Ipo Te Maipi, whose real life experiences provided the backdrop for this heart-warming tale of a young boy’s struggle to beat the odds. With Brisbane-based producer, Anthony Martin, on board, the two young filmmakers- whose friendship formed during their studies at the internationally renowned Griffith Film School- hope that this ‘underdog’ story reaches and inspires a myriad of audiences across the globe, all of whom can relate to the film’s underlying message of determination, perseverance and self-liberation.
Alongside this powerful creative force, comes talented New Zealand actor, James Rolleston, to play the film’s protagonist, Teina. Rolleston previously played the lead role in the critically acclaimed 2010 feature film, Boy, and his raw a

Leonardo Live 30 sec NZ trailer
The first-ever tour of a fine art exhibition created for movie theater audiences, coming via satellite to select cinemas in February.
Experience the U.K. National Gallery's sold-out, once-in-a-lifetime exhibition 'Leonardo da Vinci: Painter at the Court of Milan' at your local movie theater in limited screenings only from February 16, 2012.
The show is dazzling, mysterious and disturbing. That there are any paintings to show at all is something of a miracle says the Guardian in its review of the gallery presentation. Five stars -- a breathtaking and truly remarkable exhibition, the greatest exhibition of the century raves the Telegraph.
Crowds in the U.K. have been queuing every day from dawn to snatch the few remaining tickets to the gallery. Tickets have been re-selling for $700 apiece.
In a first for movie audiences, the big-screen presentation of 'Leonardo Live' gives art lovers the world over the opportunity to share in the excitement of viewing the unprecedented and historic exhibition, in the comfort of their local movie theater. The exhibition brings together the largest ever number of da Vinci's paintings, including a new, never-before-seen Leonardo painting. The program was captured on the eve of the exhibition opening in November 2011 -- the cinema screenings in February will feature extra content.
'Leonardo Live' is presented by art historian Tim Marlow and presenter Mariella Frostrup, who will explore the exhibition and feature detailed examinations of the paintings and interviews with special guests and experts.
See the paintings revealed in astonishing detail through close-up footage on the big screen.
Presented by New York-based alternative content distributors BY Experience and PhilGrabskyFilms.com with the support of Eutelsat.

The Topp Twins: Untouchable Girls, Trailer: DOXA2010 Festival
Leanne Pooley, New Zealand, 2009, 84 minutes
Saturday, May 8 | 6:30pm | Vancity Theatre
New Zealands favourite singing, dancing and yodeling lesbian twin sisters reveal all in this riotous and rollicking film. From their coming out to Jools Topps recent brush with breast cancer, Leanne Pooleys Untouchable Girls is bursting with music, hilarious archival footage and home movies, as well as interviews with the Topps infamous comedy alter-egos including Ken and Ken, Prue and Dilly Ramsbottom, Camp Mother and Camp Leader, and the bowling ladies.
Born in a country where sheep outnumber people, Lynda and Jools Topp began their musical careers busking on Queen street in Auckland. After joining the army (It was a free trip to the South Island, says Lynda; Like a sleepover with guns, offers Jools) they quickly joined whatever movement was going, be it same sex rights, Maori rights, or nuclear disarmament. Described by friend and fellow activist Billy Bragg as an anarchist variety act, the Topps leaven their serious political commitment with equally serious mischief. Another comrade puts it more simply: Theyre two very very naughty girls.
Whatever theyre doing, be it pulling a gypsy caravan via tractor across New Zealand, or performing around the globe, the sisters boundless energy, musical and political savvy, courage in the face of discrimination and infectious zest for life is like a blast of pure unadulterated joy.
Part concert film, part memoir, and almost ridiculously fun, Untouchable Girls features interviews with the twins parents, who are as dryly funny as their daughters, as well as archival footage of the sisters in their farm girl days leaping over fences and falling flat on their faces. But beneath the hijinks and quirky characters, the twins have coped with some truly hard situations, including being on the field at Hamilton in order to stop the Springbok tour of the South African rugby team. Fighting apartheid meant facing down 30,000 angry rugby fans as well as the riot squad. But it was Jools diagnosis with breast cancer that proved one of their most difficult and hard won battles. They got through it together in inimitable Topp style.
Untouchable Girls captures the twins at their full-tilt greatest, a juggernaut of celebration and a first-class crowd pleaser.
Peoples Choice Documentary Award, 2009 Toronto International Film Festival
A docu that has you falling in love with two of the crazier people you never met, the Topp Twins pure fun, very musical, and a can of mixed nuts. What we see are transformations worthy of world-class actresses.

2013 Cook Strait earthquake (magnitude 6.5) computer simulation
This computer simulation shows earthquake wave propagation (vertical ground velocities) of the 21 July 2013 Cook Strait earthquake. The earthquake source model is from the GeoNet moment tensor solution (Ristau, 2013), which used recorded seismograms. The Earth structure used in the simulation is from a tomography model (Eberhart-Phillips, et al., 2010). The yellow dots show Wellington, Nelson, Napier, Gisborne, Taupo, and New Plymouth; the green dots show GeoNet seismic stations. The white lines show active faults and plate boundaries. The simulation was performed on the New Zealand’s eScience Infrastructure high performance computing facilities. The 3D wave propagation software is called SPECFEM3D.
