MOVIE OUT OF THE ROUGH PREMIERE: QuentinVisionGolf
Quentin was invited to view the independent film golf documentary Out Of The Rough directed by Rudy Horn.
Out Of The Rough details the lives and stories of some of the oldest surviving members of The Fir State Golf Club which operates out of Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle. The Fir State Golf Club was founded in 1947 as a means for African Americans to participate in men's and women's golf clubs here in Seattle. At the time, African Americans, because of their race, were not welcome in the existing golf clubs in Seattle. As the first african American Golf Club in the State of WA and the second oldest such club in the United States, they helped pave the way for more acceptance on golf courses throughout the region and throughout the nation.
All the original founding members have since passed on, but filmmaker Rudy Horn set out to interview the oldest surviving members of the club such as Lucius Dean(91), and Bill Lynch(89) both members of Fir State for over 50 years.
Out Of The Rough is set to a soundtrack from local Seattle based band Septimus lead by lead singer Frank Brown.
Quentin was able to sit down with Director Rudy Horn to discuss the making of his movie and also got to interview Fir State Members Sam Jennings and the legendary Bill Lynch who has since turned 90.
Thank You Rudy and Mr. Lynch for taking time to speak with Quentin, What a thrill!!

Home Course in DuPont hosts U.S. Open local qualifier
See how the road to the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay had to come through the Home Course in DuPont first. It hosted one of 111 U.S. Open local qualifiers. Meet some local amateurs who tried to qualify, including Brodie Bordeaux of University Place, Aaron Levine of Seattle, Matt Marrese who won a high school tournament at Chambers Bay, and second alternate Jonathan sanders from the University of Washington. Tom Cade of the Washington State Golf Association explains what hosting this qualifier means for the area.
