Anchorage Alaska- Big Life Big Alaska-www.anchorage.net/tg
Anchorage Hub of Alaska: Surrounded by some of the most spectacular wilderness in the United States, Anchorage is a first-class destination, with all the amenities you've come to expect in any traditional meeting place.
Anchorage sits at the base of the Chugach Mountains along the coast of Cook Inlet and lies as far west as the Hawaiian Islands and as far north as Helsinki yet it boasts a mild climate. Four mountain ranges, (the Chugach, Alaska, Kenai and Talkeetna) and the warm Japanese Chugach current combine to create pleasant year-round temperatures. Spring through fall, Anchorage's climate is similar to San Francisco's spring weather; winter comparisons usually remind visitors of ski resorts in the Rocky Mountains, Canada or Europe.
The Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport serves as the primary port of entry into Alaska's largest city. With more than 300 flights either originating or terminating here each day, reaching Anchorage via air is both comfortable, convenient and time-efficient.
Visitors venturing to Anchorage can also drive from anywhere on the continent, any time of the year. The Alaska Highway, which links Alaska with Canada and the contiguous United States, is fully paved and offers services all year long. Another option is to take the Alaska Marine Highway to a nearby port such as Whittier, then take the highway or railway to Anchorage from there. See the Alaska Marine Highway section of this guide for more information or go to AlaskaFerry.com.
The parks system within Anchorage showcases some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. Virtually every aspect of Anchorage's unique past is represented in the historic, cultural or natural themes of these accessible parks.
There are more than 180 miles of groomed trails in Anchorage, many of which are lighted, as well as hundreds of backcountry treks. The grand Chugach State Park embraces the south side of the Anchorage Bowl and offers backcountry access literally minutes from downtown. Kincaid Park is a cross-country skier's delight and one of only two courses certified for international competition in the United States. Hundreds of trails cross through wooded areas abundant with wildlife and vistas of the Alaska Range and Mt. Denali.
Often, flying is the only way to reach backcountry areas that offer an unforgettable experience in the pristine wilderness of Alaska. Flying is so popular in Alaska that 1 in 36 residents have a pilot's license and towns without a stop sign probably have a landing strip. Even the capital city of Juneau can only be accessed by water or plane.
There are many companies offering charter services for just a few hours or longer backcountry trips. From Anchorage, take a flight seeing trip to Denali National Park and circle majestic Mt. McKinley while looking down on fantastic flora and fauna below. A fly-in fishing trip is a popular way to experience an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan thrill.

Larry The Cable Guy's Alaskan Bigfoot
Here's a discovery I made: There is an excellent chance that popular comedian Larry The Cable Guy's film crew accidentally captured video footage of an Auburn Sasquatch while filming one of his programs. It was inadvertently filmed on a Larry the cable guy episode while he was shooting a scene for the series Only In America in Alaska.
A close friend contacted Larry through Facebook and he had no explanation of what it was. Parker Duvall of the Kentucky Bigfoot Hunters said he called the producer who told him they were 100% sure it is NOT one of the crew and it was NOT someone in a suit. So we are giving this a very good chance that this was a Real Alaskan Sasquatch
They were quartering a Moose with (Palmer Alaska school) football team members. It was a long hike to get into the area and the creature appears to have similarities that we have seen in the Patterson Gimlin film subject.
Another look at it:
How could tariffs affect manufacturing at the Alaskan Brewing Company?

SUMMARY
=======
Anchorage (officially called the Municipality of Anchorage; Dena'ina: Dgheyaytnu) is a unified home rule municipality in the U.S. state of Alaska. With an estimated 298,192 residents in 2016, it is Alaska's most populous city and contains more than 40 percent of the state's total population; among the 50 states, only New York has a higher percentage of residents who live in its most populous city. All together, the Anchorage metropolitan area, which combines Anchorage with the neighboring Matanuska-Susitna Borough, had a population of 401,635 in 2016, which accounts for more than half of the state's population. At 1,706 square miles of land area, the city is larger than the smallest state, Rhode Island, at 1,212 square miles.Anchorage is in the south-central portion of Alaska, at the terminus of the Cook Inlet, on a peninsula formed by the Knik Arm to the north and the Turnagain Arm to the south. The city limits span 1,961.1 square miles (5,079.2 km2) which encompass the urban core, a joint military base, several outlying communities and almost all of Chugach State Park.Due to its location, almost equidistant from New York City, Frankfurt, and Tokyo, Anchorage lies within 9 1⁄2 hours by air of nearly 90% of the industrialized world. For this reason, the Anchorage International Airport is a common refueling stop for many international cargo flights and home to a major FedEx hub, which the company calls a critical part of its global network of services.Anchorage has won the All-America City Award four times: in 1956, 1965, 1984–85, and 2002, by the National Civic League. It has also been named by Kiplinger as the most tax-friendly city in the United States.

2011 Valdez Alaska PINZA for Peace Love & Powder
Rider Massimo Pinza Nigra
Thompson Pass is a 2,805 foot-high (855 meter-high) gap in the Chugach Mountains northeast of Valdez, Alaska.[1] It is the snowiest place in Alaska, recording 551.5 inches (1,401 cm) of snow per year on average.[2] In the winter of 1952--1953, 974.5 inches (2,475 cm) of snow fell—the most ever recorded in one season at one location in Alaska.[2] The pass also holds the Alaska record for the most snow in a single day: 62 inches (160 cm) fell on December 29, 1955.[2]
The pass was named in 1899 by U.S. Army captain William Abercrombie in compliment to Hon. Frank Thomson, of Pennsylvania, but he spelled the name Thompson on his sketched map, and that spelling stuck.[1] The pass had been used by Alaska Native Ahtna people for generations prior to Abercrombie's arrival, but he marked and defined a trail through the pass for use by Klondike Gold Rush miners.[3] His route, which became the Valdez-Eagle Trail, later was used by the Washington-Alaska Military Cable and Telegraph System, which strung cables through Thompson Pass. The path through the pass continued to be improved, and automobiles first drove the entire length of the trail in 1913. By that point, it had become the Valdez-Fairbanks Trail, and it was renamed the Richardson Road in 1919.[4]
Because of heavy snowfall in Thompson Pass, the Richardson Highway was used only in summer.[citation needed] Not until 1950, when a freight company foreman demonstrated that the pass could be kept open with snowplows, was the road drivable year-round.[citation needed] The trail through the pass remained gravel until 1957, when the Territory of Alaska paved it.[citation needed] In the early 1970s, Thompson Pass was the scene of frantic activity as thousands of workers built a portion of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System from a camp located nearby.[citation needed] Heavy snowfall in the pass slowed work in the winter, but the pipeline was completed by 1977, and oil today flows through the pass on an almost constant basis.[citation needed]
Because Valdez is the southern terminus of the pipeline and Thompson Pass provides the only overland transportation link to Valdez, the state of Alaska maintains a road service station in the pass to keep it plowed and ice-free year-round. This facility includes Thompson Pass Airport, a short landing strip used by state aircraft.[citation needed] The work of keeping the highway through the pass clear is extremely challenging due to weather conditions and was highlighted in the Discovery Channel television special Alaska: Most Extreme.
Horse-drawn sleds crossing Thompson Pass in the early years of the 20th Century
The pass is a popular destination for tourists and adventurers. Heliskiing and snowboarding are popular recreational activities, but the heavy snowfall in the pass causes frequent avalanches. Several tourists each year are killed in these avalanches. The Valdez Avalanche Center provides regular snow avalanche danger reports.
