The Apple Venus Volume One Home Demos
When that four watt light bulb goes on in my head I usually reach for the nearest instrument, which, nine times out of ten, ends up being my daughter Holly's school guitar. It's about two-thirds scale, nylon strings, doesn't stay in tune and was built in Romania. Now, as everyone knows, Romania is to Great Guitars as Adolf Hitler was to champion figure skating. But what the heck, it's handy and I seem to have acquired it by default. Boys and pop groups are of more interest to her at the moment than Tom Dooley and Tabulature.
Anyway, I was scrubbing away one day on the top four strings and dreamily droning a melody that seemed to sound archaic and summoned up the rolling hills (which we're surrounded by in the bowl of Swindon). I rushed out to my studio at the bottom of the garden and knocked up a loop of percussive noises. Something seemed to be growing. When I traced out my humming melody on a string sound, everything fell into place. I got 'that' tingle.
The lyric came quite quickly. The music seemed to suggest the land and forests. Vaughn Williams with a hard-on, a Pagan ritual, a celebration of the timeless, the spirit of the trees, the Greenman.
I tried to put into the song all of the essence of the male side of nature. The tall oaks and the eternal father, the lover or the green budding son. In short, mother nature's man in all his forms. It takes two to tango monotheists!
In almost every interview I've done for 'Apple Venus volume one', I'm asked why did we go for a middle Eastern sound for 'Greenman'? What? For me, there isn't the faintest pyramid shaped thing in sight. Call me the village idiot but it's all rooted in English Folk Music to my ear. Less old bazaar in Cairo, more Marlborough Mop.
Technical note:-All the orchestral sounds on this demo are again Proteus. It would be a few years before a forty piece orchestra in Abbey Road got to grips with it. Holly's guitar is called an 'Okada' and was the cheapest in the shop.

Close-range foxes: the work of the Terrierman
What do terriermen do? Terrierman Martin Clarke from Somerset explains the job from start to finish: how they are the backbone of the hunt, how they help landowners and gamekeepers dispose of problem foxes, and how they are essential to the countryside as a rural pest control service. He also answers the essential question: what's the best terrier breed for bolting foxes.

Why shoot foxes?
The British red fox is widespread across the whole of mainland Britain and Ireland. The best estimate of the current British fox population is 240,000 adults in spring, to which a production of 425,000 cubs is added annually. The fox has no natural predator and for the population to remain stable, 425,000 foxes must therefore die each year.
Fox numbers need to be managed and controlled to prevent the predation of lambs, piglets reared outdoors, free range and domestic poultry. Foxes can also have a significant impact on vulnerable species of ground nesting birds such as black grouse, partridge, lapwing and curlew (Bealey, Green, Robson, Taylor & Winspear, 1999).
In order to protect such species while they are breeding, conservators and gamekeepers aim to control fox numbers, particularly from late winter to early summer. Foxes are also controlled around pheasant and partridge rearing and release pens in late summer and autumn. Overall, the direct cost to UK agriculture from fox predation has been estimated at £12 million annually (UK Government figures)

Green Zone - Miller questions the source of the intelligence during a briefing
Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum, United 93) re-team for their latest electrifying thriller in Green Zone, a film set in the chaotic early days of the Iraqi War when no one could be trusted and every decision could detonate unforeseen consequences.
During the U.S.-led occupation of Baghdad in 2003, Chief Warrant Officer Roy Miller (Damon) and his team of Army inspectors were dispatched to find weapons of mass destruction believed to be stockpiled in the Iraqi desert. Rocketing from one booby-trapped and treacherous site to the next, the men search for deadly chemical agents but stumble instead upon an elaborate cover-up that inverts the purpose of their mission.
Spun by operatives with intersecting agendas, Miller must hunt through covert and faulty intelligence hidden on foreign soil for answers that will either clear a rogue regime or escalate a war in an unstable region. And at this blistering time and in this combustible place, he will find the most elusive weapon of all is the truth.

Airgun Hunting: Guinea Fowl Shooting in South Africa
Today on Air Arms TV, Air Arms ambassador, Richard Leonard is hunting guinea fowl on the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
Guinea fowl are a huge pest for the farmer and Richard is doing all he can to help reduce the number. During this epic airgunning adventure, Richard is treated to some incredible scenery and also bumps into some pretty interesting critters along the way.
The Limpopo Province is a magical part of Africa, teeming with wildlife. It’s the perfect location for an Air Arms adventure. Richard will be targeting disease spreading, feed stealing guinea fowl. They are a very popular game bird here in South Africa and a specie that are quite challenging to hunt.
This farm specialises in rare and dangerous game. Sable, buffalo and rhino are all roaming these grounds and the farmer is having a real problem with these birds stealing the feed meant for the wild game.
Victor, the local poacher controller for the farm, will also accompany Richard. Guinea fowl are extremely skittish animals, Richard will need to use stealth and manoeuvring to approach them close enough to take a safe, clean shot.
It doesn’t take long before Richard comes across several guinea fowl. Not to miss an opportunity, Richard gets the Air Arms Galahad set and slowly squeezes the trigger. A successful shot and the first bird of the day has been quickly dispatched. Whilst Richard examines the bird he spots a herd of buffalo feeding, it’s amazing to see such incredible animals in their nature environment.
This place is really magical, the sun is barely up and Richard has already seen buffalo and taken his first guinea fowl. Again, it isn’t long until he spots group of guinea fowl. Using a large tree for cover, Richard takes aim and another guinea fowl is down.
Further into the bush Richard comes across another incredible sight. A massive male python is lying amongst the grass. This is why you have to stay sharp out here, you never know what animal you might come across. A sight like that doesn’t come around everyday, Richard will have to start watching his steps more closely.
Continuing on, Richard heads into another field that he has been told is full with guinea fowl. He decides to follow a road that gives a more visible pathway. This path soon pays off and Richard aims at another guinea fowl in the distance. The Galahad yet again his perfectly and the birds is dispatched.
The day is quickly coming to an end and Richard really wants to get one more bird down. He sees a group francolin nearby. Francolins make for some delicious eating and he can’t this opportunity pass. Once in position, Richard squeezes the trigger and the final bird of the day is down.
It has been an amazing adventure and a day that Richard won’t forget anytime soon.
Next time on Air Arms TV, Air Arms ambassador, Eddie Jones heads out on a woodland pest control outing.

FAQ's
Why are you hating on my favourite artist?
Remember, the meaning of Parody does not mean hate or dislike. It is an imitation of the style of a particular writer, artist, or genre with deliberate exaggeration for comic effect. For example: If there is a hat in the original. Making the hat ridiculously big would make it a parody! The artists and songs I decided to do parodies about is because I am a HUGE fan of them.
Why are your videos low budget compared to other parody, spoof, sketch YouTubers?
Everyone has to start somewhere, and in the long run I hope to get better at developing my parodies, sketches and impression videos. Do not compare peoples chapter 10 to my chapter 1. YouTube is a big space, there is space for everyone.
Where you on Britain's Got Talent?
Yes, back in 2013 I was in the semi finals of Britain's Got Talent. It was an amazing experience and enjoyed showing some of my early impressions to the British public. Without it, I wouldn't be doing YouTube.
Who inspires you? Who are your favourite YouTubers?
I get a lot of my inspiration from brilliant shows like Saturday Night Live, French and Saunders, many comedy movies and fabulous YouTubers like Grace Helbig, Jenna Marbles and Pewdiepie.
Who is your favourite impression to do?
It often changes a lot. I started learning Lois Griffin first when I was in college, by just mucking around. However, my favourite changes from time to time. From Jennifer Aniston to Ellen, I enjoy them all.

Like hundreds of others I have small personal memories of Don and this year kept thinking I should go see him next time I'm in Sussex but put it off til too late. I first met him at The Shades coffee bar / folk club in Reading in 1964 and he taught me words/chords to the tongue twisting music-hall song What I Want is a Proper Cup of Coffee by Weston & Lee. He was extremely funny and a spell-binding storyteller going off at surreal tangents and suddenly stopping to sing a song. We used to get regular updates from London about his escapades like flying off a London bridge with a pair of wings. I remember his snake-skin jacket and I seem to remember he got shot in 1965. He was a loveable scallywag and very streetwise. Apart from seeing him many times in London he used to play in Leicester market-place in early 1970's outside the cinema and in the late 1980's he was living on Loughborough canal on a narrow boat where my youngest son and I visited. It must have been August because we took a load of damsons and plums. I didn't know him very well but we did go drinking locally several times and only recently I redecorated this room and painted over where his blue corduroy cap marked the wall when he slid to the floor. (We were both drunk on whisky).
