It's #SignLanguageWeek with the British Deaf Association and we're delighted to share the new trailer from Taking Flight Theatre Company for You've Got Dragons which a show for all ages and especially those with visual and hearing impairments, featuring creative captioning, interwoven British Sign Language and audio description.
Lots of people get them; bad dreams, swirly tummy, feeling prickly. And sometimes they make you feel alone. So, what can a young child with a bad case of the dragons do?
Dragons come when you least expect it. You turn round…and they’re there.
Based on the popular children’s story, this delightful tale of one child’s journey to come to terms with their dragons is a treat for the whole family. With live, original music, this highly visual, sensitive production is a humorous and touching exploration of the dragons we all face.

Meet Rumi, a British Pakistani woman who's referred to as a 'Coconut' (brown on the outside, white on the inside). Born and brought up as a Muslim, Rumi spends more time enjoying fine wine and bacon than being at the mosque. When she meets Simon, a white guy, she hopes that his decision to convert to Islam will be enough to keep everyone happy. However, as Simon begins to explore his faith, Rumi's world spins off its axis in ways she could never have predicted.

An Ideal Husband Trailer 11-15 March, Guildhall Theatre, Derby
Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company's production of An Ideal Husband by Oscar Wilde
A man's youthful indiscretions come back to haunt him in this drawing room comedy. Sir Robert Chiltern is a fine and upstanding British gentleman who has distinguished himself in the political arena and is selflessly devoted to his wife. However, it turns out that he wasn't always a paragon of virtue...
Derby Shakespeare Theatre Company are proud to present Oscar Wilde's classic comedy of manners in an all-new production for 2014 directed by Lorna Kirkland.
Revolving around blackmail and political corruption the play also touches on themes of public and private honour, the hypocrisy of the upper classes and the position of women in society -- all of which are relevant today.
Recorded 16/2/2014 at Shakespeare House and voiced by members of the cast. For cast list see
Getting Better Slowly - National Theatre Tour
Adam Pownall woke up to find his body was slowly shutting down. Unable to walk, talk or blink and nobody knew why…
When Guillain Barré Syndrome affected Adam it caused full paralysis within days. Getting Better Slowly tells the story of his illness through a creative collision of new writing, verbatim accounts, sound and movement. How does it feel when your closest relationship is with the illness that’s holding you back? Adam’s frank and moving account of how he dealt with GBS and the two years he spent recovering – including months spent learning how to walk and talk again – explores the relationship we all have with our bodies and our health. Telling his story with warmth, humour and honesty, and explaining how GBS is still part of his life, he invites audiences to consider how they would deal with an unexpected illness or accident affecting them or someone they love.

Time-lapse of Derby Market Place from Guildhall Roof
I was recently invited to take some photographs from the very top of Derbys Guildhall Theatre on the Scaffolding that currently surrounds the clock tower.
Here is some time-lapse footage I took from the very top next to the dome.
Its about 82 foot (25 meters) from the ground. It was very strange on the way up to the top level of Scaffolding as we passed the clock faces, these are huge things when you are up close. You can clearly see the minute hand moving around.
You may see yourself in this if you walked past Walkabout bar between 2:22pm and 2:30pm on Friday 8th Feb.
The photos at 02:19 are taken from postcard views from the early 1900s.
History:
Derby Guildhall was designed in 1842 by Henry Duesbury. It is currently getting a £150,000 makeover to bring it back to its former glory. This is a 5 month project to repair the front of the Grade II-listed building, It should be complete in June 2008.
I will soon be adding another video (not time-lapse) that I took from up here so keep an eye out for that one.
I took several 360x180 degree VR images which are here :
Its VERY high up there, thankfully it was a nice calm sunny day!
I would like to thank Richard Grant and his team for allowing me access.

The Guildhall Theatre is located on the Market Place in the centre of Derby City, provides a blend of professional touring theatre and music events, as well as offering a venue for many amateur productions and is perfect for small meetings and exhibitions. It has its own website :
