The Falkland Islands
Recorded February 18, 2009.
The Falkland Islands are an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean, located 300 miles from the coast of Argentina. They consist of two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland, together with 776 smaller islands. Stanley, on East Falkland, is the capital. The islands are a self-governing Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom.
Stanley (formerly known as Port Stanley) is the capital and only true city in the Falkland Islands. It is located on the isle of East Falkland, on a north-facing slope, south of Stanley Harbour, in one of the wettest parts of the islands. As of the 2006 census, the city had a population of 2,115.
The video begins aboard the Star Princess as we sail into Stanley Harbor in the Falkland Islands. Next there is a tour of the town of Stanley complete with comments from our colorful local guide. Next is a visit to the penguin colony at Gypsy Cove. The video then concludes with our sail away from the Falkland Islands aboard the Star Princess.

It's a bumpy, boggy journey by 4x4 from Port Stanley to see the King penguins at Volunteer Point, and getting there is half the fun! Here's a brief look as our caravan continued on, after stopping to tow us out of the mud.

My 28 day vacation through South America and Antarctica.
CONTENTS:
0:00:24 Atlanta, Georgia - I spend my ten hour layover in Atlanta by admiring the view from the top of the 72-story Westin Peachtree Hotel in downtown and at Stone Mountain.

0:44:34 Southern Ocean - We see our first icebergs as we approach the Antarctic Peninsula on this day at sea.

The World's Most Southerly Park Run in The Falkland Islands
Parkrun is a global phenomenon that has seen more than 2 million people across 20 different countries take part in weekly 5km runs in their local area.
The 26th October marked the first Park Run in the Falklands at the iconic Cape Pembroke lighthouse. The track was jam packed with people running, walking and strolling their way to 5k.
FITV decided to brave the cold and windy weather to see how the ‘parkrunners’ got on.
