Norway, Edvard Grieg and the City of Bergen [HD]

In autumn I visited the Norwegian city of Bergen. A long-cherished wish came true. The city is even more beautiful than I could imagine!
Very interesting was to learn that Bergen is Grieg's place of birth, his city, where he lived and passed away.
Grieg is a world famous composer, and most known and beloved because of the Peer Gynt Suite, and his Piano concerto in A minor.
I used Grieg's Holberg Suite, part one, for this video about Bergen, because it was composed for Ludvig Holberg, who was born in Bergen in 1648, and who's statue is there in the harbour.
I used my own photos for this video.

Historic Bergen and Bryggen - Bergen, Norway
Established nearly 1000 years ago, Bergen became a major Norwegian commercial center. This role was reinforced in the 1300s when a kontor - or foreign trading post - of the Hanseatic League was established here.
Bergen's colorful kontor, known as Bryggen, is the only suriving Hanseatic kontor (although many of the buildings have been rebuilt over time due to fire and age), and is a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site.
In addition to Bryggen, Bergen is home to a number of historic sites. The area is also quite beautiful, as rugged mountains surround the coastal city and area fjords.

S06A1605 - The Domkirke, or Bergen Cathedral, is dedicated to St. Olaf, Norway's patron saint
S06A1653 - Statue of Ludvig Holberg, a writer, historian and philosopher born in Bergen
S06A2208 - Mt. Floyen and the Bergen Fisketorget
S06A1656 - The Fisketorget is an open-air fish market that also features Norwegian goods
S06A1963 - Part of Bryggen burned down in the 1950s, which opened the area to archaeological excavation; the Bryggens Museum was constructed over the site, with the excavations providing part of the museum's exhibits
S06A1727 - Bergenhus Fortress is one of the oldest castles in Norway; its oldest buildings date back to the 1200s; as Bergen was once the capital of Norway, the fortress once was home to an official royal residence; in World War II, German occupiers had a navy headquarters here
S06A1749 - The Floibanen funicular brings visitors to the top of Mt. Floyen, which features spectacular views of Bergen and the surrounding area; the mountaintop also has a number of hiking trails, providing a chance to escape the city below

BERGEN NORWAY Nature and architecture
Bergen is a city on the southwest coast of Norway, surrounded by mountains and fjords. Here is the longest and deepest Norwegian fjord Sogne fjord. On the old promenade is a complex of colored wooden houses, called Bruggen. In the past, this quarter was the center of the Hanseatic Trade Union. A panoramic view of the city opens from Mount Floyen. You can climb there by the funicular Fleibanen. There are also hiking trails on the mountain. Another attraction of Bergen is the house-museum of the famous composer Edward Grieg.
