Rydabus Vintage Bus Ride - Ryde Esplanade To Isle Of Wight Bus Museum - May 2018 | kittikoko
From the Rydabus website:
Our route network this year is based on the Southern Vectis Summer 1974 timetable, with the addition of the former Seaview Services route between Seaview and Ryde which operated from 1922 to 1992.
One of our two main routes is service 7 between the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum via Ryde Esplanade to Seaview, returning direct to the Museum along the former Seaview Services route. Most journeys will be operated by open top buses, many from the Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum’s collection.
Our second main destination is The Isle of Wight Steam Railway at Havenstreet, served this year by services 3 and 3A, the former operating direct through Havenstreet village and under the low railway bridge using single deck vehicles only and the latter taking the longer route via Wootton Common to avoid the low bridge and allow double deck buses to work to Havenstreet Station.
Other services will link The Isle of Wight Bus & Coach Museum to Ryde Esplanade, Binstead, Pell Estate and Elmfield.

Bus tour of parts of the Isle of Wight, England
This is a long bus tour of the Isle of Wight. I had accommodation in Ryde and was touring the island by bus to get a feel of it. It's like mainland Hampshire which it fronts to the north.

Isle of Wight, UK Bus tour
Isle of Wight, UK Bus tour. Beautiful pace
We done ALL THE STATIONS on the isle of wight June 2019
Right then tubers over the next few weeks its all about my favourite island. In this video we pay tribute to Geoff and Vicki 2 YouTube personalities I enjoy very much, they recently done a series called all the stations, they travelled to all the stations in the UK. There was a little controversy weather or not they forgot the iow line. With out bringing up old news it planted a seed, the heritage line is so expensive, the iow feels like its stuck in the 50s the mainline is so cheap compared to the heritage line, its a gimmick being underground stock over land, and the stations are not modern at all, have we missed a trick
Well we take a look at it, and I kid you not I look forward to a return trundle on this mainline in the near future, its bumpy its wild its old its fun and you can take yet again a different look at island life from it

UK: ex London Underground Tube train (1938 stock) departs Shanklin towards Ryde on the Isle of Wight working the 1418 to Ryde Pier Head service.
Recorded 4th August 2012.
The 1938 Tube Stock is a London Underground tube stock design. A total of 1,121 cars were built by Metro-Cammell and Birmingham RC&W. An additional 167 cars (91 new builds plus 76 conversions) were subsequently added to the fleet, and the stock was used on the London Underground until 1988. During their long lives they worked on the Bakerloo, Northern, Piccadilly, East London and Central lines. Some examples are still at work on the Isle Of Wight as Class 483, making them the oldest passenger rolling stock operating timetabled services on the National Rail network.
The only examples still in daily use are the six units that survive operating the Island Line service on the Isle of Wight, and allocated TOPS Class 483. Ten sets (nine serviceable; a total of twenty cars) were bought by Network SouthEast from London Underground in 1988.
After running many years in NSE colours, the trains were repainted into 'dinosaur' livery. However, as of mid-2008, all trains had been returned to an approximation of their original LT train red livery; albeit with yellow fronts as per mainline regulations.
In addition, some other units survive in preservation, including cars from the first-built unit, which are preserved at the London Transport Museum Depot in Acton. A driving cab had been preserved at the London Transport Museum (LTM) in Covent Garden, but was not included in the Museum's refurbishment. It was fitted as a driving stock simulator, and was located next to the Museum's driving trailer.

Shanklin is a popular seaside resort and civil parish on the Isle of Wight, England, located on the east coast's Sandown Bay. The sandy beach, its Old Village and a wooded ravine, Shanklin Chine, are its main attractions. The esplanade along the beach is occupied by hotels and restaurants for the most part, and is one of the most tourist-oriented parts of the town. The other is the Old Village, at the top of Shanklin Chine.
Shanklin railway station is the terminus of the Island Line from Ryde. The railway used to continue south to Ventnor, but this section was closed in the 1960s. However in October 2004 a direct link was revived in the form of a bus service named the Rail link. This was discontinued in 2010.
Bus services to nearby towns and suburbs are run by Southern Vectis and Wightbus, mainly on routes 2, 3, and 23, principally from the bus stands at The CO-OP. Destinations served include Newchurch, Newport, Ryde, Sandown, Ventnor and Winford. In the summer, an open top bus route called The Sandown Bay Tour is run, serving the main tourist areas of Shanklin and running to Sandown.

The Isle of Wight is a county and the largest island in England, located in the English Channel, on average about 2--5 miles (3--7 km) off the south coast of the county of Hampshire, separated from the mainland by a strait called the Solent.
It is easily accessible from Southsea (Portsmouth) by hovercraft. Several ferry services operate across the Solent: the route from Southampton to Cowes is 10 miles (16 km), Portsmouth to Ryde 3 miles (7 km), Portsmouth to Fishbourne 7 miles (11 km), and Lymington to Yarmouth 4 miles (6 km).
The island formerly had its own railway network of over 88 km, but only one line remains in regular use. The Island Line is part of the United Kingdom's National Rail network, running a little under 14 kilometres from Ryde to Shanklin. The line was opened by the Isle of Wight Railway in 1864, and from 1996 to 2007 was run by the smallest train operating company on the network, Island Line Trains. It is notable for utilising ex-London Underground rolling stock. Branching off the Island Line at Smallbrook Junction is the heritage Isle of Wight Steam Railway, which runs for 5.5 miles to the outskirts of Wootton.
