Kohekohe church, Awhitu, Auckland
Kohekohe church, Awhitu, Auckland
In the early October, we went to the small town Waiuku, and explored the popular places in this region, such as Manukau Heads Lighthouse, and Awhitu regional park.
On the way to the Lighthouse, we saw this historical Kohekohe church, as this church had been sold to the private owner, we only filmed outside the fence.
I found one article from the website regarding the story of this church
It is an iconic sort of building and New Zealand has pulled down so many of its buildings, says Patsy, who bought the church in September 2012 with business partner and fellow teacher, Antonella Coppolino. In those four years Patsy has learned that the church was built during the Tarawera eruptions in 1886. Papers Past noted the builders were high enough up to see this glow in the sky and to hear the rumble.
It was used as a Presbyterian church, until decommissioned in 1976. Outside is a memorial to the church's worshippers.
The church, I think, has always been on that plot of land, she says. Some people used to walk across to that church across a lot of paddocks. People who went there when they were young, and I am talking about people now in their 70s and 80s, think that the church has been moved but, actually, the road has been changed.
When Patsy and Antonella bought the church, it had been unused for 35 years.

Manukau city centre, Auckland, New Zealand
Manukau is one of Auckland's largest suburbs and was formerly a large independant city before the amalgamation with Auckland in 2010. Attractions in and around Manukau include Rainbow's End, Butterfly Creek, Westfield shopping Centre, Howick Historical Village and Auckland International Airport.
This video shows some places in Manukau city centre, such as Westfield shopping malls, Bus and train station, and MIT campus in Manukau.
The information below is from the website
Manukau is the heart of Auckland’s south, a vibrant cosmopolitan centre and home to the largest Polynesian community in the world. For a taste of the Pacific, visit Otara Market, New Zealand’s largest street market bursting with life and flavour.
Hit the rides and rollercoasters at Rainbow’s End, New Zealand’s largest theme park, or visit some of the many other family attractions and activities nearby, including mini golf, paintball, go karting, bike riding and a rope courses.
For something more relaxing, take a stroll through the stunning Auckland Botanic Gardens – picnic on the grass, enjoy a bite in the café and find the fantastic sculptures spread through the gardens. Take the kids to Butterfly Creek to walk through the tropical butterfly house full of hundreds of colourful, free-flying butterflies, plus huge saltwater crocodiles and cute farm animals.
And if you’re an aircraft aficionado, see restored classics at the New Zealand Warbirds Visitor Centre at Ardmore Airport.

New Zealand Travel Vlog: Auckland Harbour Cruise Tour
You are watching one of my New Zealand travel videos, and today I am taking you to the Auckland Harbour Cruise.
Waitemata Harbour, or simply known as Auckland Harbour, surrounded by numerous islands dotting the harbour.
You will see lots of sailing boats. Very obvious why Auckland is called the City of Sails.
The cruise ship was a medium-sized boat divided into upper and lower decks. The upper deck provided a better view. I saw a really big cruise ship, which was the Celebrity Solstice, one of the top 20 largest cruise ships. Lots of passengers from Celebrity Solstice waving at us, but they were on decks so high they looked like little dots.
The tour lasted 1.5-hours. I saw Rangitoto Island, which is a volcanic island. Some Other places I saw were Devonport’s historic naval base, Bean Rock Lighthouse, Hauraki Gulf, and Auckland Harbour Bridge.
Tea, coffee, and some light snacks were provided, but there were a lot more options if someone wanted to pay for more.
The views of the Auckland Harbour and the coastal areas surrounding the harbour were breathtaking. After 10 minutes of passing Auckland’s waterfront and harbour area, natural splendour takes over.
In the next few videos, I will be sharing my experiences in New Zealand with you. Please join me and experience the beautiful New Zealand.

Michael Joseph Savage Memorial, Auckland, New Zealand
Located at Auckland's Bastion Point, the memorial to Michael Joseph Savage, New Zealand's first Labour prime minister (1935-1940) overlooks the Waitemata Harbour. Like the Massey Memorial in Wellington, it is built on the site of a former gun emplacement dating from the 'Russian Scare' of the 1880s.
Mission Bay is a waterfront haven for all Aucklanders. Built around the idyllic, pohutukawa-lined beach and separated from the central city by a brief and beautiful drive, it’s no wonder that Mission Bay is celebrated destination for locals and visitors alike. No matter what the weather, Mission Bay welcomes everyone with open arms and a variety of experiences. Enjoy the parks, get active (by land and by sea) or simply relax and explore the surrounds. From the iconic fountain to dining with views of Rangitoto and the Waitemata Harbour, it truly is the bustling, vibrant heart of Auckland’s Eastern Bays.
1/15 Hostel Access Road, Eastern Beach, Manukau City, Auckland
