The Lowry Trail at Berwick
The artist L.S.Lowry visited Berwick a number of times over 40 years. The town has developed a trail that shows what he painted at the time. In this video we show what he painted and what he would have seen if he had visited on the 6th and 7th of June 2012.
Berwick-upon-Tweed, Northumberland
Standing right at the Northern-most tip of Northumberland, Berwick-upon-Tweed is England's most dramatic walled town.
It has certainly attracted its fair share of famous admirers in the past. Lancastrian painter L.S. Lowry was a huge fan of the town and today there is a specially created Lowry Trail for those who want to explore his favourite holiday resort.

Figures Half Unreal - immersive theatrical installation
'Figures Half Unreal' was a major site-specific immersive theatrical installation resulting from collaboration between The Maltings Theatre, Berwick-upon-Tweed & Brass Bastion Theatre Company. We took over a derelict georgian building in the ancient town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, renovated it, and created a mysterious and inspirational world, populated with a specially commissioned immersive theatrical piece celebrating the secret lives of painter L.S. Lowry - who frequently visited Berwick and painted the town itself.
The building itself, known as The Penny Lodging House, provided an extraordinary space for the event, which played to capacity audiences throughout its three evening run. Some members of the audience returned every night to see it again.
The production played on 5 - 7 August 2010 as part of The Great Berwick Sideshow Festival of immersive & site-specific performance.
