Marsden Rick beach, South Shield, UK, সমুদ্র সৈকত ইংল্যান্ড
This beautiful bay, and the rest of the coastline, is one of nature's greatest gifts.
Blow those cobwebs away and admire the spectacular views of the bay and the famous Marsden Rock from the 250 million year old cliff top, which is home to one of England's most important seabird colonies with thousands of pairs of kittiwakes, fulmars, gulls and cormorants.
Above the bay is the The Leas, a two mile stretch of grassy land designated a site of special scientific interest. It's is a great spot for walking, cycling and flying kites.
Enjoy lots of seaside fun
The cliff top path around the bay, and along the rest of the bays that make up the South Tyneside coastline, makes for a lovely scenic walk.
Take the lift or the steps to the beach below, where you can go rockpooling to catch some crabs or muscles, see up close the stunning landmarks of Marsden Rock and Camel Island, or skip stones in the sea.
If you fancy some refreshment or lunch then make a pit stop at the Marsden Grotto pub. This is Europe's only 'cave pub' hewn out of the rocks at a time when smugglers roamed the shores. Marsden Bay is known locally for its colourful history of smugglers, wrecks and famous ghost John the Jibber who is said to haunt the Grotto!
Tales of smugglers abound
A 10 minute walk from Marsden Bay along the coast leads to Souter Lighthouse. This National Trust managed attraction was the first lighthouse in the world designed and built to be powered by electricity. You can take a tour of the machinery and engine room, enjoy a bite to eat in the cafe and even climb to the top of the tower - it's definitely worth the effort!
Marsden Bay was voted one of the UK's top 25 hidden gems and it's the perfect location to spend an afternoon or summer evening.

Great North Run 2018 - FULL EVENT VIDEO TOUR (Newcastle to South Shields, UK)
The biggest half marathon in the world! It's a one-way run from Newcastle to South Shields in the UK. South Shields is right on the seafront, so you can enjoy a nice dip in the sea when it's all over! I recommend parking in South Shields for free and getting the public bus to the start line, that way, you can avoid getting back into the city of Newcastle afterwards. That is what we did at the start of this video!
If you are lucky, you will see the Red Arrows (One of the world's premier aerobatic display teams, member of the UK's Royal Air Force [RAF]) fly over Tyne Bridge in Newcastle while you are running! If you manage to miss that, they will put on a display lasting around 10 minutes at the finish line in South Shields. Can't beat that!
-----------
The Great North Run (branded the Simplyhealth Great North Run for sponsorship purposes) is the largest half marathon in the world, taking place annually in North East England each September. Participants run between Newcastle upon Tyne and South Shields. The run was devised by former Olympic 10,000 m bronze medallist and BBC Sport commentator Brendan Foster.
The first Great North Run was staged on 28 June 1981, when 12,000 runners participated. By 2011, the number of participants had risen to 54,000. For the first year it was advertised as a local fun run; nearly thirty years on it has become one of the biggest running events in the world, and the biggest in the UK. Only the Great Manchester Run and London Marathon come close to attracting similar numbers of athletes each year.
The 1992 edition of the race incorporated the 1st IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. Martin Mathathi holds the current men's course record with his run of 58:56 minutes in 2011. Mary Jepkosgei Keitany's women's course record of 65:39 minutes, was set in 2014. In 2018, Mo Farah equalled Tanni Grey-Thompson's record of five consecutive wins.

Video Game Arcade Tours - Ocean Beach Pleasure Park (South Shields, UK)
I wasn't overly impressed with the three arcades in Ocean Beach Pleasure Park because they have a considerable amount of floor space and also the park brings in lots of children, so where ARE the video games? I think I counted 2 or 3 in each arcade, they were all jam packed with redemption machines and fruit machines. Not great at all.
Many of the arcades in the UK (Mainly seaside arcades) are called Amusement Arcades. They are typically packed with redemption-based machines with very few video games (As video games simply do not make money). I have placed the word Amusements in the title for these types of places as they are not true Video Game Arcades, but deserve some sort of mention. As gambling is legal in the UK, they tend to include fruit machines (aka slot machines) and various other things money-making games, so video games really take a back seat in places like these. They also really hate filming, I'm not sure why because it's free advertising, unless dodgy things are taking place lol

An amusement arcade (often referred to as video arcade or simply arcade) is a venue where people play arcade games such as video games, pinball machines, electro-mechanical games, redemption games, merchandisers (such as claw cranes), or coin-operated billiards or air hockey tables. In some countries, some types of arcades are also legally permitted to provide gambling machines such as slot machines or pachinko machines. Games are usually housed in cabinets. The term used for ancestors of these venues in the beginning of the 20th century was penny arcades.Video games were introduced in amusement arcades in the late 1970s and were most popular during the golden age of arcade video games, the early 1980s. Arcades became popular with children and particularly adolescents, which led parents to be concerned that video game playing might cause them to skip school.

South Shields Coastal Town In Photographs August 2014
A short video showing pictures of South Shields, a coastal town in the North East Of England. The video is mainly of the sea front area and the South Marine Park. These were taken in August 2014.
The following text has been copied from Wikipedia...
South Shields is situated in a peninsula setting, where the River Tyne meets the North Sea. It has six miles of coastline and three miles of river frontage, dominated by the massive North and South Piers at the mouth of the Tyne. These are best viewed from the Lawe Top, which also houses two replicas of cannon captured from the Russians during the Crimean War (the originals having been melted during World War II).
The town slopes gently from Cleadon Hills down to the river. Cleadon Hills are made conspicuous by the Victorian Cleadon Water Tower and pumping station (opened in 1860 to improve sanitation) and a now derelict windmill, both of which are listed and can be seen from many miles away and also out at sea.
South Shields boasts extensive beaches, sand dunes and coves, as well as dramatic Magnesian Limestone cliffs with grassy areas above known as The Leas, which cover three miles of the coastline and are a National Trust protected area. Marsden Bay, with its famous Marsden Rock and historic Grotto public house and restaurant set in the cliffs, is home to one of the largest seabird colonies in Britain.
One of the most historic parts of the town is the quaint and beautiful Westoe village, which consists of a quiet street of 1st grade and 2nd grade Georgian and Victorian houses, many of which had been built by business leaders from the coal and shipping industries in the town. Given its beautiful setting, parks and trees, this street was often the setting for a number of books by the novelist Catherine Cookson.[2] Westoe village was once a separate village about a mile from South Shields, but urban sprawl has now consumed it, along with the village of Harton to the south on the main route towards Cleadon and Sunderland.
My DJI Spark. Mouth of the Tyne. South Shields
South Shields is a coastal town at the mouth of the River Tyne, England, about 4.84 miles (7.79 km) downstream from Newcastle upon Tyne. Historically in County Durham, the town has a population of 75,337.
The first evidence of a settlement within what is now the town of South Shields dates from pre-historic times. Stone Age arrow heads and an Iron Age round house have been discovered on the site of Arbeia Roman Fort. The Roman garrison built a fort here around AD 160[1] and expanded it around AD 208 to help supply their soldiers along Hadrian's Wall.
