Trusties Hill Training Day
The sun shone brightly as participants gathered at the Mill on the Fleet for the start of the Trusty's Hill Guided Walk Training Day organised as part of the All Our Stories Gatehouse of Fleet in the Dark Ages Project.
Trusty's Hill archaeologist Ronan Toolis of Guard Archaeology outlined the significance of the royal stronghold at Trusty's Hill and described some of the remarkable finds made at the dig last year. Ronan then led the 33 participants up to Trusty's Hill, where they all looked in more detail at he site and read descriptions of the various aspects of the dig, which Ronan had written. Participants then took it in turns to describe aspects of the site. GDI chairman David Steel said We now have 33 new ambassadors for Trusty's Hill who will be able to spread the word about this remarkable site and will themselves be able to lead walks to Trusty's Hill. With the help of so many local people and the support of Guard Archaeology we will show the importance of Gatehouse of Fleet to Dark Ages Britain.
