TRAIL RIDERS OF THE CANADIAN ROCKIES PROMOTIONAL FILM 85344
Made in 1959 by Davart, RIDING HIGH WITH THE TRAIL RIDERS OF THE CANADIAN ROCKIES follows the trail riders, a group founded in 1923 by John Murray Gibbon, through the Canadian Rockies with footage of the mountain ranges, lakes and rivers. It also takes viewers on a journey across Canada and through the Canadian Rockies aboard the Canadian Pacific Railroad.
Banff is seen at the 1:50 mark, with horseback riders and its National Park. The palatial Banff Springs Hotel is seen at 2:20, and Lake Louise at 2:40. The rest of the film shows camping in tents, outdoor cooking, lots of riding, and
A modern promotion for this group says this: One of the great outdoor thrills is a trip by horseback into the majestic Canadian Rockies. Few things say “Western Canada” more than heading out on horseback into these breath-taking mountains. Get away from cities, cars, cell phones, the internet, and television. Unplug and trade up to mountain peaks, green valleys, crystal clear streams, forest trails, outdoor home cooking and good companionship. You don’t have to know how to ride; just be willing to learn. Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies is a non-profit organization, and the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies are dedicated to share this authentic western experience with locals and international travellers, alike. Come ride into the remote areas of the mountains with a good degree of comfort and at a reasonable cost. They operate eight 6-day rides during July and August out of Banff, a 90 minute drive from the Calgary International Airport.
