With its main shopping streets filled with high street favourites such as John Lewis, House of Fraser, Urban Outfitters and H&M, to the historic shopping ‘Promenade’ featuring dedicated shops for Jo Malone, Toast, Anthropology and Oliver Bonas. Also in the centre of town are the areas of Montpellier and the Suffolks – Regency streets full of unique independents.

Alternative Visions: Undiscovered Art in the South West
Alternative Visions: Undiscovered Art in the South West is a remarkable and celebratory exhibition which provides a unique insight into a previously undiscovered group of artists and what motivates them to create art.

Rogues' Gallery: A History of Art and its Dealers by Philip Hook, reviewed by Nicholas Hoare
The entertaining author of Breakfast at Sotheby's returns with a revealing account of the questionable world of art dealing, from its inception in Antwerp to the high-stakes arena of collecting and collectors today.
Few are better informed than the author, whose 40 years of senior involvement with both Christie's and Sotheby's has provided him with a unique insider's view of the folly, greed and duplicity all too frequently attached to the selling of art in general and auctioneering in particular. From Lord Duveen to Leo Castelli and his own mentor, the conniving Peter Wilson, this is a gossipy tome of the first water, appropriately titled.
When it comes to art, buyer beware, but not when it comes to this book. A most revealing read.
