Ukraine accuses NewsOne channel of TREASON for planning a show with Russian TV station
A Ukrainian broadcaster abruptly halted work on a new televised ‘politics-free’ discussion with Russia’s flagship channel, aimed at giving a say to viewers from diverse sides, citing “death threats” and pressure on journalists.
NewsOne and Russia’s most-watched broadcaster Rossiya 1, were eagerly anticipating their co-hosted television show called ‘We need to talk.’ Scheduled to go on air on July 12, it was meant to give a voice to people from each country without having to touch upon divisive political issues.

WALKING IN THE CENTER OF VLADIVOSTOK RUSSIA.ЦЕНТР, НАБЕРЕЖНАЯ ВЛАДИВОСТОКА
VladivostokTalk was walking in the center of Vladivostok
Taking a stroll through the city center, it is impossible to walk past Vladivostok’s Arbat – the so-called pedestrian section of Admiral Fokin Street – as it is one of the favorite places of Vladivostok residents and tourists alike. In the nineties, due to the many kiosks and stalls selling cheap Chinese consumer goods there, the street was dubbed simply Commercial or “Shopping Street.”
However, in the new century, it transformed; the atmosphere itself changed on the street – which descends directly to the sea, into the Sports Harbor. Sparkling fountains, distinctive raised garden beds, and convenient benches appeared. The historic buildings along the street house cozy cafes, trendy shops, and budget hostels.
The Arbat has already established its own traditions: friends get together here; business meetings are conducted and romantic rendezvous take place. In the summer, there are often street performers, and the interior courtyards of “Millionka” – the preserved environs of the early 20th century Chinatown – surely attract fans of historical arcana and oriental exoticism.
Going further down the Arbat will bring you directly onto the “Sport Harbor” Promenade. It is quite possible to dedicate a few hours taking a leisurely walk through this area. The central city beach, a marina with sailboats, the sea breeze, and the outline of Sandy Cape on the other side of the bay – are all there at your disposal.
Strolling along the shore, you can get your portrait done by one of Vladivostok’s remarkable artists, who will complete it literally within thirty minutes. Be sure to keep your eye out for Tiger Alley – where on thirteen stone tiles tiger tracks are depicted and the names are written of the countries where these rare cats currently live. The presence of such an alley makes complete sense given that Primorye is Amur (Siberian) Tiger country.
If you are traveling with children, check out the amusement park. There is a carousel and bumping cars for kids, as well as a Ferris wheel that offers a beautiful view of the harbor and downtown. Looking out at Vladivostok from on high, you will see for yourself how hills grace the landscape that this city is spread across.
Just a few steps away from the waterfront is the aquarium (oceanarium) where two exhibition halls are located. (In the first) displayed in glass cases, are collections of seashells, corals, sponges, fish, and a variety of marine animals. In the large round hall, inhabitants of Far Eastern freshwater reservoirs, Peter the Great Bay, and tropical seas are apportioned in thirteen aquaria. In four cold-water aquariums, denizens of the Seas of Japan and Okhotsk are distributed.
To the left of the Oceanarium begins a sweeping staircase that leads to the Vladivostok Fortress Museum. This unique historical site will be intriguing to anyone interested in the naval history of the Russian Far East. The museum also contains a rare collection of bricks produced in Primorskiy factories in the early 20th century.
The walls of the buildings surrounding this square became a platform for the works of world-famous graffiti artists. In 2013, American Gabriel Spector depicted a DNA molecule as a symbol of the connection among all people on Earth. Japanese artist Yuma created black and white graffiti with the words Underwater Party. And New York painter Gaia drew a bright tiger on the wall, protected by human hands. Adjacent to the square is the bar Mumiy Troll – definitely go in there if you want to hear music with great club sound. The cuisine here, by the way, is multinational.

Exploring Eastern Siberia
This film tells us about UniQ technology and how it is applied in Eastern Siberia.
Public Lesson at School and Chamber Concert at Philharmony. Vlog.
From time to time, the teachers in most of Russian school are making so called public lessons, when parents may present in their kid's class during the lesson.
So, recently I came for the Math lesson in my daughter's class at school.
After the school we went to have a dinner in Morris, an Irish pub in Ufa, Russia.
And finished the day at the State Philarmony of the Republic of Bashkortostan of Russia. There was a chamber concert for piano and violin.
THE ENEMY JAPAN PART 2 THE PEOPLE OF JAPAN FANATICAL ENEMY PROPAGANDA FILM 63594a
Presented by the United States Navy during WWII, THE ENEMY JAPAN presented the American public with a look at their new adversary. In this, Part Two of the three part series entitled “The People,” is narrated by former U.S. Ambassador to Japan Joseph C. Grew. The film portrays the Japanese as a people trained from childhood to completely commit themselves to the Japanese Empire and its causes. The film begins with Grew giving an introduction (00:41), then shows footage of Japan’s Emperor Hirohito (01:51) as he rides a horse in a military parade. The Japanese military marches down a city street lined with cheering people (02:27). The film shows Tokyo (02:53), including Tokyo Station, a Mitsubishi office building, another train station, and a subway station—all part of the modern look of the country. Bankers sell cash to customers (04:15) and the Tokyo Stock Exchange’s floor bustles with transactions (04:43). At a theatre, Japanese men and women watch a play celebrating the Nazis (05:45), further promoting the idea of total war. Grew tells viewers that the Japanese government censors the media to perpetuate the national narrative, and there is footage of Japanese newspapers printing papers (06:47) and members of the military delivering news via radio broadcasts. The strength of Japan’s military comes from the peasant population; the film shows a peasant woman working on a farm (07:34) and other peasants working in a kitchen, building huts, and harvesting grain and rice. Men chop wood (09:06), as lumbar is a critical resource for the war effort. In an old traditional town (09:45), each home doubles as a miniature factory, where families produce a variety of goods. A family has tea in their kitchen (10:25). Grew accuses the Japanese of being ungrateful of the help the U.S. provided after the 1923 earthquake; the film provides footage of what appears to be destruction from that earthquake (10:38). Women work in a city factory producing textiles (11:16), and men build engines on an assembly line (11:55). Japanese participate in a Shinto event (12:38) and visit a Shinto shrine. Young boys dress in military uniforms (13:47) and participate in drills. The film then shows footage of the aftermath of a Japanese bombing of China (14:30), with Chinese people trying to escape the destruction. Japanese students study and paint Japanese characters (15:07). Japanese soldiers drill (15:52) and train with rifles. Young men attend the School of Military Government and Colonial Administration (16:55), where they learn how to govern an occupied people. Japanese soldiers stand for inspection (18:30), then they train with guns and in hand-to-hand combat. The film concludes with footage of Japanese soldiers marching in a military parade (19:25).

Колыма - родина нашего страха / Kolyma - Birthplace of Our Fear

A note on 'Ivan the Terrible' - in Russia, Ivan IV has the epithet 'Гро́зный' meaning 'Great' or 'Formidable'. So why is he known as Ivan 'the Terrible' in English? Because he was evil or useless or because of anti-Russian bias? No, because 'Terrible' in English also means awesome or formidable - this was well understood when 'Гро́зный' was first translated into English centuries ago, but now fewer people understand this. (see definitions 3 & 4 here: The name stuck, and Ivan IV has been known as Ivan the Terrible ever since.
