September 14th - 23rd at Pavilion Theatre in Kamloops, B.C.
When a free-spirited woman dies unexpectedly, her two middle-aged sons bicker over her funeral arrangements, her personal effects—and her feisty Italian Greyhound. Unearthing decades worth of buried rivalry, they ponder meaningful questions like Who did she like best? and Who gets the dog? An eccentric modern comedy by one of Canada's most celebrated playwrights - about life, death, aging parents and dealing with brothers who simply refuse to grow up... or don't know how to stay young.

Alarias Fiddle Trailer
Alaria’s Fiddle is a full-length musical theatre performance developed by the Smithers-based Valley Youth Fiddlers in collaboration with master fiddlers from across Canada including Jaron Freeman-Fox, Adrian Dolan, James Stephens, and Gordon Stobbe. Alaria's Fiddle is a fictional tale about a young girl who lives with her mother on an isolated lighthouse on the west coast of Canada. With little to do but play her fiddle over the marine radio to the passing fishing fleet, Alaria quickly becomes frustrated with her limited repertoire and makes a plea to the wide world for music to play by sending a thousand messages in bottles that she casts into the ocean.

Carole James recognizes Alice Ross upon her retirement
Transcript:
For much of the last 20 years, Alice Ross has been the helping voice on the phone and across the counter at constituency offices in Prince George and here in Victoria. Alice started as a constituency assistant in 1996, working for Lois Boone, MLA for Prince George–Mount Robson. There's only one Alice Ross, Lois notes, both tough as nails and soft as a kitten.
Alice worked for Paul Ramsey for Prince George North. She was, as Paul put it: My eyes and ears in Prince George while I was away at the Legislature. What Alice didn't know about happenings in Prince George was frankly not worth knowing.
When the member for Victoria–Swan Lake and I were elected in 2005, Alice came to work in both of our offices. We benefitted greatly from her exceptional casework skills.
Alice raised two boys as a single parent and is now a proud grandma. She has lent her passion and her drive to volunteer with many organizations, including the Prince George Theatre Workshop, Big Brothers Big Sisters, the CNIB and Theatre North West.
As Lois Boone said, and I agree: Alice is one of the hardest-working, dedicated and faithful people I've ever met. She worked tirelessly on behalf of our constituents and made sure that we as MLAs did the same. When it snowed in Victoria and most everyone else didn't get to work, Alice put crampons on her boots and she pushed her walker through piles of snow. She knew there would be citizens waiting who needed help that day.
Alice is retiring on April 1, and I know that I'm not the only one who will miss her touch at my constituency office. But I also know that she is going to stay active with social and political activism in our community, because that's who Alice Ross is. I hope that all members in this House will join me in thanking Alice Ross for her years of extraordinary service and wishing her well in the next chapter in her life to come.
Army Air Corps demonstrate skills on Lynx Mark 9 Alpha 24.05.11
661 Squadron of 1 Army Air Corps are carrying out pre-deployment training in the ranges of California. As well as environmental and mission specific training, the 50 members of the squadron have been using their experience of the Lynx Mark 7 helicopter to prepare them for flying the most up-to-date model, the Lynx Mark 9 Alpha, which holds the record for the fastest in the world. Since 1979, the Army Air Corps has been using the Lynx helicopter for operations. It was built for the Cold War and the North-West Europe landscape, not hot environments like Afghanistan, which is why the new model will benefit the squadron when they deploy to theatre. The advantages of the upgraded Lynx Mark 9A is that the engine has 45% more power than the previous Mark 7 or Mark 9. It has the most up-to-date weapon, the M3M gun and there is a brand new surveillance system. With a highly capable aircraft, a fully trained crew and the most high-tech surveillance system the squadron is as ready as they will ever be to deploy.

Anyox Ghost Town in the Fall
The historic Anyox Ghost Town filmed in the fall with all the oranges and yellows of the trees. This copper mining town was in operation from 1914-35 and then closed down to depressed copper prices. The town still has many buildings that still stand today especially the concrete ones. The town had a hospital, movie theatre, bank, golf course, schools, stores, tennis courts, ice rink, and even a red light district. The town had running water, electricity and a sewer system. One of the most interesting and remote ghost towns in Canada.
