Miles Jupp: The Life I Lead
Best remembered for playing Mr Banks in Disney’s classic film Mary Poppins, David Tomlinson was renowned for playing the classic English gent, forthright, proper and a loveable fool. His meeting with Walt Disney came to encapsulate his incredible life full of adventure and heartbreak.
The man who portrayed one of cinema’s most famous patriarchs was defined by his relationship with his own father – a remote eccentric, who was hiding an extraordinary tragicomic secret.
The Life I Lead sees Miles Jupp, one of Britain’s leading stand-up comedians and revered actors (Mock the Week, The News Quiz, Rev, The Durrells, Balamory) bring David Tomlinson’s remarkable story to life.
A richly comic and moving tale of fathers and sons across the generations,
THE LIFE I LEAD fills in the blanks behind a very well-known face.

The Personal History of David Copperfield - filming in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk
This time last year, the streets of Bury St Edmunds were transformed into a film set as filming for 'The Personal History of David Copperfield' took place!
The film is scheduled for release later this year (2019), 184 years after Dickens first stayed in Bury St Edmunds!
One year on, and you would never know that Bury St Edmunds' Angel Hill had hosted hundred of extras, horse drawn carriages, directors, producers and film crew!
'The Personal History of David Copperfield', boasts a stellar cast featuring Dev Patel, Tilda Swinton, Hugh Laurie, and Peter Capaldi and is directed by Armando Lannucci, and on 3rd July 2018, many of the film's big names descended upon the historic town of Bury St Edmunds. Angel Hill, Athenaeum Lane and Chequers Square were transformed and taken back in time to the 1840s with filming continuing inside the UK's oldest Regency theatre, the Theatre Royal the following two days.
Whilst many historic features are still present in the town today, to create the authentic 'Dickens' look, Angel Hill was closed off to cars, and replaced with horses, carts and carriages. Modern day signage was also removed, including the Charles Dickens blue plaque on The Angel Hotel, which marks his numerous stays at the hotel.
