Snow monkeys soak in hot springs of Japan
In winter Japanese macaques, also known as snow monkeys, warm up in natural hot springs. David Levene visits Japan's Jigokudani Monkey Park in Nagano, the only place in the wild where you can view the monkeys as they relax in the steaming water - while the monkey babies show more interest playing with tourists' camera equipment

Lakeside Ryokan in NIKKO, JAPAN // JP17 ep.4
Hey guys! Welcome to another vlog from Japan. This time we're heading up to Nikko in Tochigi prefecture. 2 hours north-west of Tokyo and surrounded by mountains, Nikko is an up and coming city for Japanese tourism that's seen significant development since I was last there in 2009! We visited the beautiful Lake Chu-zenji, or Chu-zenji-ko in Japanese, and spent the night at a beautiful ryokan (traditional style hotel) with an onsen (hot spring)! Close to the lake is the magnificent Kegon Falls, but there's other onsen towns in the Nikko area as well as many other attractions like the beautiful shrines and temples of Toushogu and Rinnouji, which has a huge golden Buddha statue, dating back to the BC years(!) plus the Shinkyo (God Bridge). There's also the Tobu company's World Square, a park containing minature sculptures of Japan and the world's most famous landmarks, and nearby is also Edo Wonderland, a theme park which aims to re-create a Japanese village from the Edo Period with various performances and activities like a Geisha theatre, archery, samurai battles, traditional street food and shuriken (ninja star) throwing!
Nikko is well worth a visit, and the secret is getting out! The Nikko All Area Pass is good for 4 consecutive days. It will get you there and back from Tokyo's Tobu Asakusa station as well as unlimited rides all around Nikko on the Tobu buses, plus discounted entry into some attractions! - Don't forget to budget an extra few thousand yen per person to get those seats on the Limited Express trains and entry into the shrines, temples and anywhere else you might want to visit!

Staying Japanese Ryokan! (And drinking a little too much sake)
farm.girl and I stay at a traditional Japanese style Ryokan inn and enjoy a traditional Japanese dinner. We also got a bit drunk off some locally made sake!
farm.girl had a major hangover the next day! :P
Ryokans and Kaiseki in Japan: Ryokan Yumoto Itaya
(Please don't forget to Share, Like and Subscribe! Thanks...)
Ryokan Yumoto Itaya is the last ryokan and last Kaiseki meal of this trip. However, Marine Steve and I were ready for a real bed rather than a futon and changed our Japanese-style room for an ordinary room with beds.
Itaya has yet another, wonderful and obliging owner who goes out of her way for guests. In-the-know Japanese come up here for nature since there is nothing else to do in this teeny hot springs town.

THANH TAN HOT SPRING - ONSEN 2012 (5').flv
THANH TAN HOT SPRING - ONSEN
THANH TAN SPA & ALBA THERMAL HEALTH RESORT
Coming to Hue, tourists do not only enjoy the beautiful scenery but they also feel peace and better health.
An asphalt road of 12 km long from An Lo Bridge on the 1A National Route 20kms from Hue City will take tourists to this place.
Lying at the foot of the majestic Truong Son is the Tourist Resort. In 2011, there were more than 100000 tourists coming for entertainment and resting.
The outstanding points of Thanh Tan that attract the tourists are:
- The natural hot mineral water is really good to human health. Thanh Tan mineral water is among the very hot water minerals (68oC) containing Calcium sulfat and Silica. It is the same as Kundur mineral water from the former Soviet Union, Pavel Baniia (from Bungary), Vittel Grand sources (from France) which are mineral waters that have been bottled for age old drinking and treatment.
- Nature is really magnificent here: The Truong Son ranges are an unusual picture that everybody wants to admire. Near the high mountains are continuous hills that have been arranged close to each other. All is covered with a multicolour green coat.
The resort area is divided into three sub-areas:
Sub-area 1: is an area next to the mountain foot with a natural spring that is cool all year round and a 3 m wide road surrounding the hill
Sub-area 2: is a centre for bathing in hot mineral water. The remarkable point here is that the bathing system is based on the principle that the mineral water stream is flowing to one direction. The new water comes from the ground (live mineral water) flowing to the pools and springs and being discharged by another system.
- Pure mineral water stream surrounding the hill with various temperatures from 35 to 42oC
- A system of diversified pools: Pool for couples: small and lovely with shapes of natural flowers and leaves. The size is enough for a couple to bath together. It is hidden under canopies of green trees that make you feel happy and relaxed when bathing in the water.
- For the tourists who need treatment or nursing for a long time, there is a reception clinic. Here you can receive mineral water therapies (soaking in the bath with massage, steaming
Sub-area 3: is an entertainment and eating-place:
- A sea wave pool that is good enough for creating a feeling that you are sea bathing in the mountain Next to this pool is a little pool arranged with pebbles and sliding bridge for children's entertainment.
- A large playing ground for fire camp or musical performances for youths' night outings.
- Karaoke rooms.
- The restaurant is high, airy, large and luxurious that is always windy with a view of the Truong Son ranges that makes you feel relaxed when having meals.
- After enjoying the specialities, the tourists can rest with a sound sleep in simple cottages or lovely stilt houses (covered) or more conveniently, they can have concrete houses or villas.
Thanh Tan Spa Resort is also an attractive meeting place of conferences or seminars because it has:
- Large conference hall with more than 200 seats
- Restaurant that can receive more than 500 customers
- A system of diversified bedrooms
You are welcome to our resort. We are pleased to serve you.
