Tigress and Nilgiri Tahr
A group of Nilgiri Tahr surprised by a tigress. They don't like the sight and run towards a cliff. The tigress is disappointed, stops and then starts exploring the territory. A way to understand the habits for the next visit... Both species have less than 2000 individuals in the wild. We hope India can keep both these species. It is worth keeping these marvels for the future generations. Nothing can match an encounter with a tiger.

VIDEO OF AMAZING WILD ANIMALS IN MUDUMALAI NATIONAL PARK...
Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary & National Park is situated at the tri-junction of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka on the North Eastern Slopes of the Nilgiris part of Western Ghats descending to the Mysore Plateau. An erstwhile game reserve, Mudumalai was declared a wildlife sanctuary with a 62 sq KM area in the early 1940 by the then Madras Presidency. With Bandipur Tiger Reserve (Karnataka) in the north, and Wynad Wildlife Sanctuary (Kerala) in the west the region forms a single, continuous viable habitat for a varied range of wildlife and is a part of the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve. While Mudumalai’s western half receives the southwest monsoon, the eastern tracts receive the relatively gentler north-east monsoon which results in a diversity of vegetation types and typical migration of herbivores.
LOCATION
Map
The sanctuary has an area of 321 Sq. KM with 108 sq.KM of National Park area.
It lies within 11o 30’ N to 11o 42’ N and 76o 30’ E to 76o 45’ E.
Rainfall ranges from 800 - 2000mm. Temperature varies from 14o C to 33o C.
Altitude ranges from 100’ MSL to 1200’ MSL.
The Mudumalai National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary (Tamil:முதுமலை தேசிய பூங்கா மற்றும் விலங்குகள் சரணாலயம்) also a declared tiger reserve, lies on the northwestern side of the Nilgiri Hills (Blue Mountains), in Nilgiri District, about 150 kilometres (93 mi) north-west of Coimbatore city in Kongu Nadu region of Tamil Nadu. It shares its boundaries with the states of Karnataka and Kerala. The sanctuary is divided into five ranges – Masinagudi, Thepakadu, Mudumalai, Kargudi and Nellakota.
The protected area is home to several endangered and vulnerable species including Indian elephant, Bengal tiger, gaur and Indian leopard. There are at least 266 species of birds in the sanctuary, including critically endangered Indian white-rumped vulture and long-billed vulture.[2]
The Western Ghats Nilgiri Sub-Cluster of 6,000 square kilometres (2,300 sq mi), including all of Mudumalai National Park, is under consideration by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee for selection as a World Heritage Site.
There are 48 tigers in the Nilgiri Reserve across which tigers are free to roam. In April 2007, the Tamil Nadu state government declared Mudumalai to be a tiger reserve, under section 38V of the Wildlife Protection Act of 1972, in an effort to conserve the country's dwindling tiger populations. Subsequently, about 350 families living in the core area have been evicted from the park and given INR 10 Lacs compensation. Those in the 5 km buffer area around the park fear they too will be evicted, however, nobody will be dislodged from the buffer zone. In fact, some people in this zone will be involved in the project as trackers and guides to enhance their income through eco-tourism.

Tea plantation in the Nilgiris: aerial journey
Tea plantation in the Nilgiris: aerial journey.
Also known as the Blue Mountains, Nilgiris have their presence in the southern end of the Western Ghats in the Indian subcontinent. Within an altitude range of 1000 m to 2500 m, the Nilgiris provide shelter to some of the best hill stations in the country. Along with this, the hills are most importantly famed for its sprawling tea plantations. Unlike the other major tea growing zones in India, Nilgiri tea plantations are known to produce the hot beverage throughout the year. The prime tea varieties of these plantations are Black tea and Oolong, the aromas and flavours of which are highly distinct from the rest of India. This is majorly due to the high altitudes of Nilgiri tea plantations. The region’s popular tea estates that are a must visit on a tour of Nilgiris include Craigmore, Pascoes Woodlands, NonsuchDunsanadale, Parkside, Glendale, Tiger Hill, Colacumby and Corsley. Owing to the huge variety and abundance of tea in this part of India, every year a Tea and Tourism festival is organized here by the Government authorities.

Kotagiri, Ooty Coonoor Tamil Nadu, India-A offbeat Honeymoon - Tripjodi Indian Couple Travel video
Kotagiri famous for scenic viewpoints, beautiful tea gardens. We went to Catherine waterfalls, dolphins nose, kodanadu view point, uyiletti waterfalls, sims park, nehru park, tiger hill cemetery and lot more in Kotagiri and its surroundings . .
Trip Jodi had an amazing stay and exploration at Kotagiri through #stayonskiil.
It was really mesmerising vacation at Kotagiri. We stayed at Darpan Wood house.
Kotagiri is the oldest and the third largest hill stations in the Nilgiris. Looming over and above all the surrounding hills in the North-eastern escarpments, its climate is claimed to be one of the best in the World. Kotagiri literally means the lines of the house of the Kotas. Kotagiri is quietly tucked away in the Nilgiris and used to be the summer resort of the British.
Till date the beauty of hill resort of Kotagiri attracts tourists and the sun scorched souls from far and wide Kotagiri. Unlike Ooty and Coonoor, Kotagiri is situated in an 'open-terrace' massif. At an elevation of 1985 m. the town has developed around numerous knolls and valleys. The Kotagiri weather is more bracing than that of Coonoor and balmier than that of Ooty
At a distance of 29 km from Ooty, 20 km from Coonoor, 72 km from Coimbatore & 544 km from Chennai, Kotagiri is a small Hill Station in Nilgiris district of Tamilnadu and is one of the top places to visit in Ooty. It is situated at an altitude of 1793 m Kotagiri. This the oldest and the third largest hill stations in the Nilgiris after Ooty and Coonoor. The name Kotagiri literally means mountains of the Kotas and refers to the Kota tribe who lived here in the past.
Kotagiri was the first British settlement in the Nilgiris and preferred summer retreat, till a road was built from Mettupalayam to Coonoor. The region was discovered by two civil servants of the Madras government in pursuit of outlaws. They called the region Kotacherry. John Sullivan, the then collector of Coimbatore, visited Kotagiri and was so drawn to the place that he built a home here making him the first European to reside in Kotagiri.
Kotagiri is famous for its breathtaking scenic beauty. The first coffee plantation was planted here in 1843 which was followed by many more plantations. However, the first tea plantation in the late 19th century by the daughter of MD Cockburn, tea slowly started taking over coffee until it completely spanned the city. Today, the tea plantations in Kotagiri cover a total area of 30,000 acres.
Surrounded by tea estates and beautiful green landscapes, Kotagiri offers plenty of opportunities for trekking and rock climbing. The trekking trails in this region go through picturesque tea-estates and lush greenery, meadows and rivers. The most popular trekking trails in Kotagiri are towards Kodanad (15 km), Catherine Falls (7.5 km) and Longwood Shola (3 km). Some of the tourist attractions in Kotagiri are Kodanad Viewpoint, Catherine Falls, Elk Falls (7 km) and Rangaswami Peak and Pillar. Kodanad Point offers spectacular views of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Kotagiri has plenty of accommodation options in form of resorts, villas and lodges from economical to mid-range and highly luxurious hotels. Lazy Hills, La mansion, Moon Shadow Cottage, Bel Air Cottage are some of the many options.
Kotagiri is well connected by bus with Mettupalayam, Coimbatore, Trichy, Thirupur and Erode. Coonoor (20 km) is the nearest narrow-gauge railhead and Mettupalayam (33 km) is the nearest major railway station.

Lamb's rock is part of Nilgiris hill of TamilNadu.
Lamb's Rock which is 9 Km from Coonoor (Tamilnadu) is one of the beautiful places in the whole of India. Lamb Rock overlooks the plains of Coimbatore, providing a panoramic view of the tea and coffee plantations. There are two versions of why it is called Lamb's Rock. One is the striking resemblance of a natural rock formation to that of a Lamb. The second version is it is so called by the then collector E.B.Thomas after one Captain Lamb made brave efforts to cut a path to the place. It is located in Buliar village at a Latitude of 11.341361 and longitude of 76.8178976. In the video, one can see the mystical and magnificent movement of clouds.
