Shinkansen N700 Series Kyoto to Hiroshima 26/4/19
This is the Third of my train journeys through Japan in April this year. Our Train for that day was onboard the Shinkansen N700 Series formed of 16 Coaches and they run between Tokyo and Kagoshimachuo in Kyushu on the Tokiado Shinkansen, San-yo Shinkansen and the Kyushu Shinkansen operated by West Japan Railway. I was on my way to Hiroshima with the tour group run by Inside Japan. We spent the morning getting the train from Kyoto to Hiroshima and then taking the JR San-yo Line from Hiroshima to Miyajimaguchi and taking a ferry from Miyajimaguchi on the Island of Itsukushima where where Miyajima is and then after lunch, we took a tram from Hiroden-Miyajimaguchi on the Miyajima Line to Genbaku Dome-Mae on the Hiroshima Dentetsu No.2 Tram Line to see the Atomic Bomb Dome and go to the Memorial in the Peace Memorial Park Hiroshima where in 2015 US President Barack Obama and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe laid their Wreaths at the Memorial to mark the 70th Anniversary when the Americans dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima and then on Nagasaki afterwards a few days later to end the Second World War against the Japanese in August 1945.
Later on, we went to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum which I did find very interesting but pretty graphic to see which was a bit horrifying. At the end of the day, we got the Shinkansen back to Kyoto but we had to make one interchange at Shin-Osaka for another Shinkansen service back to Kyoto.
