4k - Flowerpot Island Tour - Tobermory Ontario, Canada - 2016
Would you like to spend a weekend away from Toronto? Go up to the beautiful scenery of the Bruce Peninsula and do some camping, hiking, swimming, snorkeling or diving. Tobermory is the village on the north end of the Peninsula and definitely worth a visit. From there you can visit the Bruce Peninsula National Park and the Fathom Five National Marine Park. One of the biggest tourist attractions it the flower pot island in Lake Huron. Get on one of the Glasbottom Boats from Bruca Anchor Boat Cruises and see not only the Flowerpot but also have a look at the Shipwrecks along the coast. Theses Shipwrecks make Tobermory to one of the best diving spots in Canada. I would also suggest to stay on the flower pot Island for a while, so you can make a walk through the woods and go for a swim in the beautiful turquoise water of Lake Ontario.

This two-masted schooner was damaged off Cove Island then towed to Big Tub Harbour where she sank in September, 1885. Its charred remains now lie in shallow water about 30 m (100 ft) from the wreck of the Sweepstakes. Its rudder and propeller are displayed at the local museum. This site is suitable for both divers and snorkellers.

A historic recreation of the historic Old Fort Erie. Great tour every Canadian should tour this place.
A walk around Wiarton, Ontario, Dec 6th, 2012.
Our Thursday Morning Hikers were treated to a guided walking tour through the streets of Wiarton, Ontario. Along the way we saw one of the original hospitals, an old dairy location, an octagonal house, carved tree trunks and the rebirth of two historic structures; the old Wiarton High School and the Wiarton Train Station. Bluewater Park offered a monumental tribute to Wiarton Willie both past and present.
A Visit to Cobourg - Ontario's Feel-Good Town
Cobourg, 95 kilometres (59 miles) east of Toronto, is the largest town in and seat of Northumberland County in Southern Ontario. Cobourg retains its small-town atmosphere in part due to the downtown and surrounding residential area's status as a Heritage Conservation District. The downtown is a well-preserved example of a traditional small-town main street. Victoria Hall, the town hall completed in 1860, is a National Historic Site of Canada, according to Wikipedia.
One of the town's main attraction is Cobourg Beach, site of the popular Sandcastle Festival. There were at least 10 master sculptors who participated in the event that ended Aug. 5. Sandsculpting lessons were provided during the event. The intermittent rains on Monday, Aug. 7 left some of the sand sculptures barely intact.

Diving the MV Wawinet - part 1
Part 1, diving the wreck of the MV Wawinet August 29. 2012, a luxury yacht that foundered and sank September 21, 1942 off Beausoliel Island, Georgian Bay, Canada. This wreck remains one of Georgian Bay's most tragic accidents with 25 lives lost, and only 17 survivors. The passengers consisted of staff from the Midland Foundry and Machine Co. who were out celebrating the completion of a significant WWII contract for Canada's war effort. The boat was owned, and captained by Bert Corbeau, plant superintendent, and ex Montreal Canadiens & Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman. Bert Corbeau was not one of the survivors of the accident.
Canadian Exporter Shipwreck - North Cove, Washington
Shipwreck of the Canadian Exporter which ran aground at the mouth of the Willapa Bay in 1921. Salvage operations failed and the ship was buried and lost until a recent storm uncovered it. The beach is rapidly eroding in this area known to locals as Washaway Beach uncovering more of the shipwreck with each storm. Four weeks after our first visit to the wreck on January 3rd, 2010, the beach has eroded another 30 to 40 feet exposing more of the wreck. This is something special to see before it is lost again....
Directions to the Wreck
Take Highway 105 south from Westport, turn right at the North Cove Minitmart on Warrenton Cannery Road. Park at the end of the road and walk to beach. The wreck is about 250 feet further south on the beach. Use Caution and your best judgment, this is a dangerous area and should not be visited during storms or high tides.

Ruhba Nan Gall
Ruhba Nan Gall lighthouse is accessible by walking the muddy coastal trail, heading North-East from Tobermory's RNLI lifeboat building. The path is dangerous in some places, where the there have been landslides and cliff collapses. The lighthouse can also be seen from the Tobermory - Kilchoan ferry, which is how most people see the light.
In the title slide of this video is a Lockheed C-130 Hercules, which flew over us during our time at the lighthouse and then again later in the week, over Gairlochy.

Elora, ON: The Most Beautiful Village In Canada?
Some call Elora, Ontario The Most Beautiful Village In Canada...they could be lying but it's definitely really nice. I went on a quick trip with Fel and Wes from Feather and the Wind to check out the Elora Gorge and the surrounding area. I also decided to try a different method of documenting my trip...a more pretentious one ;)
Thanks to Fel and Wes for providing me with the drone footage AND an awesome time!

1959 Owen Sound Santa Parade
Santa has arrived in Owen Sound for another year, so I thought it might be fun to look back on another Santa parade. This is film footage of the 1959 Santa Claus parade in downtown Owen Sound. Really amazing to look at the businesses in the background to see what has changed and what hasn't.
