Bibi ka Maqbara | Mini Taj Mahal | Aurangzeb Wife Tomb | Aurangabad
The Bibi Ka Maqbara (English:Tomb of the Lady) is a tomb located in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, India. It was commissioned by the sixth Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1660 in the memory of his first wife and chief consort Dilras Banu Begum (posthumously known as Rabia-ud-Daurani). It bears a striking resemblance to the famous Taj Mahal, the mausoleum of Aurangzeb's mother, Mumtaz Mahal. It is notable that Aurangzeb never raised monumental edifices during his half-a-century reign, but made just one exception, that is, to build the mausoleum of his wife. He was not very interested in architecture, though he had built the small, but elegant, Pearl Mosque at Delhi. The Bibi Ka Maqbara was the largest structure that Emperor Aurangzeb had to his credit.

Aurangzeb (1618–1707), who was the sixth Mughal emperor, ruled most of the Indian subcontinent for half a century until he died in 1707. According to his wish, he was buried near the dargah of Sheikh Zainuddin, his spiritual guru. His great grand father emperor Akbar ruled 50 years
Location
The tomb is located in the village of Khuldabad, in the district of Aurangabad, 24 kilometres (15 mi) from Aurangabad city. It is located in the south-eastern corner of the complex of the dargah of Sheikh Zainuddin.
Aurangzeb's Tomb, with marble jaali (latticed screen) around it.
Description
Aurangzeb died in 1707 at Ahmednagar. His body was then carried to Khuldabad after his son Azam Shah and daughter Zinat-un-Nissa came. There is a platform over the tomb made of red stone, less than three yards in length. There is also a cavity in the middle which measures a few fingers. The tomb has been covered with soil on which herbs grow. After his burial, he was given the posthumous title of Khuld-makan (he whose abode is in eternity). Lord Curzon later covered the site with marble and surrounded it with a pierced marble screen. The tomb is roofed by the vault of the sky. The gateway and the domed porch were added in 1760.
It is said that Aurangzeb paid for his burial place by stitching caps during his last years and that it cost only 14 rupees and 12 annas. The tomb is remarkably simple in keeping with Aurangzeb's own wishes. Aurangzeb's full name is written on a marble plate located in one of the corners of the tomb.
The dargah also houses the tomb of the first Nizam, Asaf Jah I, his son Nasir Jung, and those of Aurangzeb's son Azam Shah and his wife.

history of mughal empire Aurangzeb in hindi - Beauty dargah aurangabad
Dargah Hazrat Aurangzeb Alamgir RA
Aurangzeb’s Tomb located in the village of Khuldabad, Tomb of Aurangzeb marks the burial ground of Aurangzeb; the last of the great Mughal emperors. During 1680, after the death of Shivaji (a great Maratha ruler), Aurangzeb won entire empire and brought it under his rule. He established his kingdom near Bhingar and remained there until death at the age of 91, in the year 1707. Aurangzeb’s Tomb was designed and constructed by Aurangzeb himself, after he entered Deccan despite of continuous intimidation by the Marathas, which later became his burial ground. In the same tomb complex, one can see the mausoleum of Aurangzeb’s second son, Azam Shah, and his wife. Originally, the tomb consisted of the wooden slab with the Persian inscription.
Unlike the other great Mughal emperors, Aurangzeb didn't have a pompous burial and was kept simple as per his wishes. His name is still there at one of the corner of the tomb, scribbled on a marble plate. It is said that Aurangzeb funded his own burial by knitting caps and copying the Quran, during the last days of his life. In the same tomb complex, one can see the mausoleum of Aurangzeb’s second son, Azam Shah, and his wife. He also wished to be buried near the dargah of his Spiritual guru; Sheikh Zainuddin.
Originally, the tomb consisted of the wooden slab with the Persian inscription. Later in 1920, the tomb was renovated with high-end marble screen and floor by Nizam on the request of Lord Curzon. On ceremonial occasions, Aurangzeb's grave is draped with richly embroidered cloth.
After his burial, Aurangzeb earned a title of ‘Khuld-makan’- one whose abode is in eternity. The Aurangzeb’s Tomb carries immense historical significance and calls for a must visit for the tourists of Ahmednagar.
