The Puerto Vallarta Airport
After getting off the plane you will follow the signage to the immigration line. Depending on how many planes arrive at the same time, the longer the line of course. You will need the immigration card the flight attendant had you fill out, and you have it entirely filled out, even on the bottom where you didn’t notice you needed to fill out but need to anyway, and your passport.
By the way, I got an email from Brett from Seattle Washington who reminded me about a tip regarding filling out those immigration forms that we talks about in show 2 and 3. You know, the one you get from the flight attendant before you touch down in Puerto Vallarta, they are called FMM’s which stands for Forma Migratoria Multiple. Anyway, he says in his note…Barry, Listening to your second podcast and noticed you didn’t mention that you can complete the FMM online. It’s so much easier, and you don’t have to worry about a pen and writing small enough to get everything in the tiny boxes. When printed, fold it several times so they can separate the ‘top’ part from the ‘bottom’ like the pre-printed ones. I occasionally have to tell them it’s ‘nuevo – en linea’. Big time saver! Here’s the site: … there’s an ‘ES’ and an ‘EN’ button you can click for Spanish or English.

It’s at this point where the immigration person after looking you up and down and checking your mug against the mug in the passport photo, maybe even asking you a question or two, will stamp your passport. room where you check in with Fido or Tigger. After you collect your luggage you will be asked to proceed to the customs lines where you will work your way up to the front where you will hand over your declaration card and you will be asked to press a button. If you are lucky, most people are, you will get a green light and will proceed to the next part of your journey. If you get a red light, you will be asked to proceed straight ahead of you to some tables with customs agents where they will ask you to open your bags for inspection. I have, in the many, many times I have been here over the last 33 years never been asked to open my bags. Not once. Call me lucky, but that has been my personal experience.

Now. This is the moment you have all been waiting for. This is it ladies and gentlemen. If you listen to all of my podcasts and get absolutely no information from any of them, this is the part that you must listen to. After you escape the customs room you will go through some glass sliding doors and you will find yourselves in a place, nicknamed in a most loving terms of endearment, The Shark Tank. You will be walking through a corridor where on either side counters and tables and very official looking people nicely dressed, some in uniforms will try to be getting your attention. They will ask you if you need a taxi. They will say to you that they will arrange a taxi for you. They will ask you where you are staying and try to strike up a conversation with you. They will attempt to offer you things. Do Not Stop. Do not Engage These People. They are attractive, they are smiling big white toothy smiles. They look so harmless…they want to help me with my trip? Tantra - Touch Experience
Tantra is an old Indian philosophy and religion teaching how to overcome individual consciousness in a sacral act of reconnection with the “super consciousness”. The tantric massage technique “Shiva´s Dance” follows the secrets and symbols of Tantra to reach a connection between the spiritual world with the physical body through touch.

Victoria BC (YYJ) to Puerto Vallatra JAL (PVR) via Air Transat's (Economy) Airbus A321-211
For this trip, I feel my experience was pretty good for an approx five hour flight. I feel like the soup I had was a little bland, but I could live off of it if I had to. The crew on board seemed friendly. The seating really impressed me, as I mentioned in the video though I feel like IFE screens would be nice. Out of ten, for a five hour flight, I would rate this a eight, the IFE screens and the food were what took off their last two points. Apart from that, thank you Air Transat for the lovely flight!

Tips For The Puerto Vallarta Airport
Okay, so now we are all packed. We know what to bring. Passports, pack light, think cool, review what to do about money and your cell phone and internet needs in episode 2. Now you have arrived at the airport. What happens next?

Welcome to Puerto Vallarta! Check out the Best PV has to offer
Puerto Vallarta (population 255,725 - 2010 census) is located on the Pacific coast in the Mexican State of Jalisco, within the Banderas Bay (Bahía de Banderas), which is considered to be one of the most beautiful bays in the World and happens to also be one of the Mexico’s largest, measuring 26 miles (42 km) from East to West and 20 miles (32 km) from North to South.
The northern limit of the bay is Punta Mita which is also considered the end of the Sierra de Vallejo mountains and in its southern limit, the bay ends at Cabo Corrientes, the end of the Sierra del Cuale mountain range.
Puerto Vallarta is the second-most visited tourist destination in Mexico, (only Cancun has more tourists), attracting millions of visiting tourists per year (4.1 million in 2016 and 4.5 million in 2017, without including cruise ship visitors and over 4.7 million in 2018), and has served as a relaxing change and refuge for people looking for a place that is more than beautiful beaches.
This may be the reason why there is a considerable number of expatriates mostly from U.S.A., Canada, and some European citizens living permanently in the city, another attractive is Vallarta's great weather.
Tropical-forested mountains and mineral-rich volcanic slopes appear to literally rise from the sea and 100 miles of mountain-ringed golden coastline hugs the stunningly beautiful Banderas Bay.
Bahía de Banderas is the broadest and deepest natural bay in Mexico, the bay teems with aquatic life and multiple species of dolphins, whales, manta rays and fish of all types and colors, that visitors could enjoy and even touch if they snorkel or scuba dive in the area.
The bay and PV offers a cornucopia of amazing options to enjoy during your visit - not only beaches but also sparkling sunshine and clear warm emerald blue waters that are ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving, and swimming.
Sleepy fishing villages that emulate Vallarta of old times - Punta Mita, Sayulita, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Bucerías, Mismaloya, Boca de Tomatlán, and Yelapa are part of the scenery along the coastline both to the north and to the south of PV. Even though Vallarta no longer is a small town, you can travel back in time when visiting these locations.
Nestled in verdant valleys and green lush mountains overlooking the bay, you can find many idyllic colonial-era villages such as San Sebastián del Oeste, Mascota, Talpa and others, that invite travelers to enjoy yet another facet of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, and Mexico.
Keeping up with the changing times, the city has adapted and improved with time, so now the needs of the demanding modern-day tourist are met, these include luxury resorts and hotels, all-inclusive options, spas and retreats, championship golf courses, top-notch shops and gourmet restaurants have opened at a rapid pace in recent years.
Despite the change, the town still maintains pockets of its quaint charm. In downtown Vallarta, you'll find picturesque colonial and whitewashed buildings, cobblestone streets, red Spanish tile roofs, and a lot of lush vegetation, both on the streets, the gardens, and parks, help make PV a totally different experience when comparing it to any other destination in Mexico and around the world. The architecture mirrors the colonial facades with brickwork and flowering plants.
The beauty and charm of Puerto Vallarta are, as always, represented by the landmark Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. The first building started at the end of the XIX century, after many starts and stops, changes and even a war, the main building was finished in 1952 with the current red brick tower (without the crown).
Hundreds of flights per week arrive at Puerto Vallarta's International Airport (PVR) from airports throughout the U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico. A total of 2,591,035 passengers made their way through the gates of Aeropuerto Internacional Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz during 2013, in 2016 the Vallarta CVB data reported a total of 4.1 million people visited the city, 2017 received over 4.5 million visitors and that's not even counting the cruise ship visitors. 2018 is well on its way to becoming a record year, with the highest hotel occupancy in decades. So the numbers don't lie either, consider visiting PV and find out for yourself why this tendency is a reality.

10 Things you MUST do in Puerto Vallarta
Sarah Elengorn show us the 10 thing you cannot miss while you are in Puerto Vallarta, so you can experience all the wonders from this amazing Mexican paradise.
As soon as you set foot in this beautiful city, the first must-visit is to take a walk along the boardwalk. Don't miss out on some of the shows that happen in the plaza Los Arcos and don't skip enjoying some of the most spectacular sunsets in the world.
Visit the church Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe] The Church of our Lady Guadalupe is one of the most representative structures of Puerto Vallarta.part from being able to enjoy its amazing architecture, you will always find activities and a lot of life surrounding it.
To the south of the river Cuale, we arrive to the most popular area, known as the Zona Romántica and also as Viejo Vallarta (Old Town). This is an area full of cafes, bars, restaurants, and stores-much more than in any other area of the city! Small hotels, very traditional taco stands, and markets are its main attraction.
The most popular beach in Puerto Vallarta is the Playa de los Muertos (the Beach of the Dead), located between the boardwalk and the Romantic Zone. Here you can enjoy a numerous array of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy the local gastronomy while sinking your feet into the sand.
In the middle of the city, between the center of Puerto Vallarta and the Zona Romántica, in the middle of the river Cuale you will find the Isla del Rio Cuale. There you will find numerous small stores with souvenirs, silver jewellery, clothing, and handicrafts; besides an archeological museum and excellent restaurants such as the River Café and the Bistro Jazz Café.
The Mismaloya beach was the reason for the touristic boom in Puerto Vallarta. It is a 900 meter long curved beach surrounded by jungle and the Sierra Madre mountains. Nowadays, Mismaloya offers excellent hotels, restaurants, and palm shelters, as well as a zoo and a tequila factory.
At the south end of the boardwalk, you will find the Museum of Naval History. There you can find maps, ship replicas, navigation instruments, uniforms, and whale skeletons. If you go to the upstairs part of the museum, you will find a café where apart from an economic breakfast, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Bay of Banderas.
15 minutes north of the center of Puerto Vallarta you will find the luxury area of Marina Vallarta, where you will see another landmark of the city: the lighthouse. In the open air restaurant they offer delicious dishes, as well as a spectacular view from above.
Situated between the beaches Las Gemelas and Mismaloya, there are the 5 islands that make up the nature park of Los Arcos. The waters where these islands are found are the deepest waters in the Bay of Banderas and it is the perfect place to go snorkeling and scuba diving.
You cannot leave Puerto Vallarta without enjoying the work of the most outstanding artist in Puerto Vallarta: Manuel Lepe. Presidents, the queen of England, Elizabeth Taylor, and other outstanding characters are the proud owners of the work of this peculiar artist. You can enjoy one of his pieces, Vendedores de Pescado, in front of the Naval Museum at the end of the boardwalk.
