Seville
We we amazed by the beauty and charm of Seville. First we toured the barrios (neighborhoods) including Santa Cruz, the central old-world heart of Seville. The barrios of El Arenal, Museo and Distrito Triano were also fascinating. Fabulous architecture all around, and the friendliest of people - - even though we don't speak Spanish!
The Plaza de Espana and Parque Maria Luisa could not be more lovely. Filled with beautiful pavilions from the 1929 Exhibition, this is the Central Park of Seville. When we visited, (a little off-season), there were more locals than tourists - - families with children, relaxed older couples. Happy people in a beautiful setting - - horses, carriages, bicycles, strollers.... The surrounding pavilions, most turned into magnificent museums, offer spectacular moments throughout the park.
The Cathedral of Seville, technically Catedral de Santa María de la Sede, is the largest Gothic cathedral in Europe. It may not be the most famous, or most sophisticated architecturally, but it certainly makes up for it in scale and spectacle.
The Reales Alcazres de Sevilla (Royal Palace) is worth a trip to Seville in itself. Originally a Moorish fort, the Almohades built the first palace in the Mudejar style. When Spanish Christian established control in the late 15th century they kept, or integrated most of the original Islamic architecture, (much to their credit). This palace, along with that at the Alhambra, are considered the best remaining examples of the Mudejar style.
Seville is also an excellent destination for families with children. Beautiful parks, boat rides, horses, are just part of the program. A recent world exhibition has been transformed into a theme park.

SEVILLA - NO8DO
An ode to the city that hosted me for three months and that I fell in love with.
It's not the greatest video, which is what happens when you're still figuring out how to use your camera to film, don't have any time lapse equipment, and low quality settings because the memory card is running low..... But I hope you enjoy nonetheless!

Spain Day 5 - Seville, Spain - Part 1
Seville is the capital of southern Spain’s Andalusia region. It's famous for flamenco dancing, particularly in its Triana neighborhood. Major landmarks include the ornate Alcázar castle complex, built during the Moorish Almohad dynasty, and the 18th-century Plaza de Toros de la Maestranza bullring. The Gothic Seville Cathedral is the site of Christopher Columbus’s tomb and a minaret turned bell tower, the Giralda.
Casa Pilatos
La Casa de Pilatos is an Andalusian palace in Seville, Spain, which serves as the permanent residence of the Dukes of Medinaceli. It is an example of an Italian Renaissance building with Mudéjar elements and decorations. It is considered the prototype of the Andalusian palace.
