Things to do in Belfast - My Favourite Belfast City Attractions that I recommend to all my visiting friends.
Europa Hotel - 4 star and is known as the “Most bombed hotel in Europe and even the world” having suffered 36 bomb attacks during the troubles, it was such a symbol of Belfast and is today. It was opened in 1971 on the site of the former Great Northern Railway station. It has 272 bedrooms, lobby bar, a Piano Bar Lounge; great for tea and looking out at Belfast go by… Bill and Hillary Clinton stayed here and had a suite renamed the Clinton Suite!
Crown Liquor Saloon (opens 11.30 to midnight Monday to Saturday, 12.30-11 pm Sunday) AKA The Crown Bar – best-known pub in Northern Ireland – opened as “The Railway Tavern” and it was sold in 1885, renamed and refurbished in 1885 and only twice since then! Italian craftsmen were bought to Ireland to work on the many churches being built at the time and the pub owner persuaded these guys to work in the pub after hours (maybe paid in beer!)
Robinsons next door would also be very famous and is a large bar filled with Titanic memorabilia. It was opened in 1895 and has Fibber Magee’s with traditional music, lunch and more.
Golden Mile, stretches from Great Victoria Street, Dublin Road, Bradbury Place to University Road, includes the Crown Salon and Grand Opera House and would be a main area for clubs, bars, restaurants and theatres in Belfast. It would have been the main area back 20 years ago.
Queens University Part of the Queens Quarter of Belfast, which is one of 6 cultural areas. It opened in 1810, being granted university status in 1908. It is one of the largest employers in Northern Ireland and has a global reputation for research, attracting many international students. Famous alumni include former Irish President Mary McAleese, poet Seamus Heaney and actor Liam Neeson
Ulster Museum
Located in Botanic Gardens, it’s the largest museum in Northern Ireland, 8,000 sq meters of display from fine art especially Irish Art to archaeology to treasures from the Spanish Armada and walks through local history. A more recent addition was the Game of Thrones Tapestry, a temporary exhibition which was created from Linen from one of the last surviving linen mills in Northern Ireland. This dictates many of the famous scenes from the TV show and is a celebrate of the shows creation in Northern Ireland. (
Botanic Gardens - 28 acres opened in 1828, opened all year. It started as a private park and became public when the Belfast council purchased it in 1895. It has its own Palm House Conservatory which opened in 1840 and is one of the earliest cast iron glasshouses in the world. There are 2 wings, the cool wing and tropical wing and includes 400 year old plants! So anyone into plants will love this stop.
Belfast City Hall
Located in Donegall Square, opened in 1906 it stands on the site that was one the White Line Hall, an international Linen Exchange. The street from the back of the Hall is in what is called “the Linen Quarter” and the street name is “Linen Hall Street”. (
St Anne’s Cathedral or Belfast Cathedral is the Church of Ireland and was also completed in 1904. It was built on the grounds of an old parish church that existed since 1776 called “St Anne “. Originally only the nave of the cathedral was built with other sections added through the years. The “spire of hope” was added in 2007 which is a 40 metre steel spire. (
Brings you out to “Albert Clock” Completed in 1869 – another famous landmark of Belfast. It was built on wooden piles in Marshy reclaimed land around the River Farset, the top of the tower leans 4 feet to the side. (
Walk through Queens Square to St. George’s Market, last covered Victorian market in Belfast. It was built between 1890 and 1896 and today up to 300 traders, crafters, musicians and amazing food are available on site. Free entry and open Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the weekend days the biggest. Holds events during the week.
SS Nomadic It was launched in 1911 and owned by White Star Line. It was a passenger ship to the RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic and is the only White Star Line vessel in existence today. It was built in slipway 1, Olympic was in slipway 2 and Titanic in slipway 3.
Titanic Belfast Opened in 2012 , a monument to Belfast maritime history on the former site of H&W shipyard where the Titanic was built. It tells the complete story of the Titanic which sunk hitting an iceberg in 1912. It has been voted one of the best tourist attractions in the world.

Belfast, Northern Ireland: A Black Cab Tour of Falls Road
More info about travel to Belfast: A cab is the best way to tour Belfast's sectarian neighborhoods and their gripping political murals. Just west of downtown, Falls Road (Catholic) and the Shankhill Road (Protestant) are two well-known areas. Belfast has fascinating history and is one of the most artistic cities that is undergoing a transformation from the last few decades. It's also affordable with many free walking tours and activities, easy to get to from Dublin, filled with friendly locals, and less touristy than many other capital cities.

We went to Northern Ireland to see the city of Belfast and to do the Game of Thrones tour. This is only the part 1 of the trip and part 2 will be the GOT tour that I will upload shortly.
Unfortunately, we were not able to try Irish food on Day 2 so we had Chinese instead lol.

Belfast Sound Bites....The Troubles Tour
2019 Sister Trip - England, Scotland, Ireland
Follow us on our adventure through England, Scotland, and Ireland! Find our complete itinerary, what we would have done differentely, and #nutritarian finds below.
TRAVEL ITINERARY:
1. Fly to LONDON via Norwegian Air, taxi to Notting Hill. 3 nights at an air bnb in London
2. Train to SCOTLAND — London Kings Cross – Edinburgh train really easy and comfortable -1 night in Edinburgh at Harry Potter airbnb, awesome experience - great host who held our bags so we could have 2 full days in Edinburgh
*definitely could have done another night in Edinburgh- one of our favorite places
3. Left around 4 pm, right before the rental car place closes to drive -yes, on the left hand side- to Fort William.
-- We stopped at The Three Sisters Mountain on the way, which was beautiful.
-- We realized we didn't have a hotel for Fort William and spontaneously booked one right before we lost wifi and got really lucky with a last minute open room at the grange in Fort William- amazinggg B&B - grangefortwilliam.com
4. We drove from Fort William to Inverness and made some stops along the way: Ben Nevis Mountain and afternoon tea at Inverlochy Castle.. We wish we got to see isle of sky in Scotland but we couldn’t fit it all!
5. We spent 1 night in Inverness and woke up early to catch a flight from Inverness to Dublin, Ireland via Logan Air
****wouldn’t have done this if booked it again *** We wanted to go to the Cliffs of Moher, but would’ve gone straight to Shannon if we had to do it again to cut driving time.
6. Drive to Cliffs of Moher - must add this to your bucket list if you haven't been; best part of Ireland!
-- Cute town to get a snack on the way is Lahinch, we went to Dodi Cafe, which is close to the cliffs.
7. Drive from Cliffs of Moher back to DUBLIN - Hotel 7 was perfect - good location and made us steamed veggies one of the nights: hotel7dublin.com
8. Fly back to the states from Dublin via Aer Lingus
Things to do and food to eat:
LONDON - very easy to find vegan spots, but they tend to use a lot of oil / maple syrup / salt so beware of what you order!
Coffee shops and breakfast:
-- Amoret - matcha latte with coconut milk was so good
-- Urban barista near kensigton gardens - soaked oats breakfast was amazing!
-- Farm girl - cool drinks, a lot of them are date sweetened, sweet potato avocado toast good but ask for no additional oil
-- Hotshoe333 - stumbled upon this in the rain and loved the atmosphere and lattes
-- Went to Daylesford organic and picked up really chocolate banana oats and fruit for on the go-
Dinner:
-- Farmacy - vegan restaurant with great food loved everything we tried
-- The alchemist.. cool bar with some vegan options, but watch out for fried food. They use dry ice for their drinks so our tea came out smoking

Belfast Maritime Festival - Belfast Northern Ireland
Belfast Maritime Festival -Tall Ships - Belfast Northern Ireland - Walking through some of the tall and huge ships in Belfast, Northern Ireland, which have taken place in different movies as well; the Caribbean world.
Being the city where the famous RMS Titanic and the SS Nomadic were built ( it is then important that this capital city of Northern Ireland holds a festival for the ships found in it, like the Belfast Maritime Festival which we succeeded at attending.
Belfast Maritime Festival, which is also known as Belfast Titanic Maritime Festival, was held for three consecutive days where different tall ships where displayed along with having different activities for the families along with live entertainment; we all had fun checking those ships and at the same time playing around.
This event took place at the Queens Quay for three different days - Friday, Saturday, and Sunday - and it did not only give the visitors the chance to see those tall ships from the outside, but it also allowed them to come on board and check the whole thing from the inside as well.
Some of those ships which were displayed for the public during the event has their places in some movies - so you might end up knowing the ship from the movie - and this makes people more eager to come inside and stand in the same place where the actors once were.
From the magnificent ships which were displayed, there was the Earl of Pembroke, the Kaskelot, and the Phoenix. In addition to those, the Russian vessel Shtandart was docked throughout the festival and the Royal Navy and Irish Naval stopped also during the festival.
As adults, we enjoyed seeing all those ships - because who would not enjoy such tall and huge things? - but the kids were the ones to enjoy their time for several reasons; first of all, it was new for them to see the place where the ships are being built and then go into the water for trial; second, they were also excited while playing around and taking their parts in the different fun activities taking place during the festival.
There were actually different activities for the kids there which ranged between storytelling and face drawing, to those outdoor fun games which we have been part of as well :-)
As Irish people, we always feel proud of being the mother country where the RMS Titanic and SS Nomadic were built, and we feel even prouder of the fact that the SS Nomadic is now considered a touristic attraction for people to come and visit it, know more about its story, and at the same time enjoy this ship that has been living for more than 100 years. On the other hand, we always feel proud of the fact that the City Hall dedicated a garden for the victims of Titanic (
Getting out of this festival, we could say that there are different things to write down when it comes to the things we enjoyed; we enjoyed the idea of walking across those ships in general, knowing more about the history of maritime in Belfast, we also enjoyed the different activities which were done for all the different ages visiting the place, we enjoyed getting on those tall ships and enjoying the fact of knowing more about them and their history as well as taking some pictures, and we enjoyed the event as a whole - it was some kind of a different one.
This Maritime Festival is usually held in May, so those who will be visiting Belfast during this period should never miss the chance to attend the festival because it will get them closer to something which they might be already thinking about - which is visiting the famous SS Nomadic ( - but those who will be coming to Northern Ireland more in summer then there are other things for them to do and other touristic places which they could visit.
From those Belfast attractions which tourists should visit and always keep in their plans, there is the City Hall (which might be related to Titanic in some way for the memorial kept in its garden) ( there is also the Commercial Court which one could have a walk through ( where they could also check one of the doors which appeared in the Game of Thrones movie series and which is found at The Dark Horse Bar ( visiting the Crumlin Road Gaol which is one of the oldest and most famous prisons in Northern Ireland ( going through the walking tours in Belfast which is all about the history of troubles ( or going through a walk in the city in general ( there are actually lots of things to be done in Belfast.

20 things to do in Belfast Travel Guide | Top Attractions Travel Video Transcript:
Well hello from Northern Ireland. This week we are traveling around Belfast and we only have three days in the capital so we're going to try and cover as much ground as we possibly can and show you some of the highlights.
The RMS Titanic was the largest ship afloat at the time it entered service, and it was built by the Harland and Wolff shipyard in Belfast. The Titanic Belfast exhibition, tells the stories of the Titanic's ill-fated maiden voyage in 1912 and it is one of the top attractions in the city.
Right now we're on board the SS Nomadic, the little sister of the Titanic, and we're going to take a full tour of the ship.
The SS Nomadic was a steamship built as a tender to the RMS Titanic. It was her job to ferry passengers, baggage, and supplies to and from the shore.
Next up we are heading inside St George's Market, which we've been told is more than just a farmer's market. Apparently, aside from buying food there you can catch some live shows, go shopping for vintage items, jewelry. So we're going to head inside and see what it is like. And it is only open on the weekends.
Queen's University Belfast is one of the oldest universities in the United Kingdom. It also happens to have a really nice campus, so we decided to take a little stroll.
The Botanic Gardens first opened as a private garden in 1828, and for many years the public only had access on Sundays. Today anyone can visit and it's a beautiful place to walk around, especially if you luck out with sunshine.
So if you take a look at my pint over here you might be thinking I'm having Guinness. It does look a lot like Guinness but in fact it is Belfast Black. And I have to say it tastes just as good if not better.
For 360 degree views of Belfast, we recommend going to Victoria Square Shopping Centre, and riding the elevator up to the dome. This will give you a nice bird's eye view of Belfast.
So to wrap things up here in Belfast I'm going to mention three things I really liked about the city.
First off it is highly affordable. One of the best bargains you can get is a day pass for the bus. It's really cheap and it allows you to travel anywhere in the city unlimited usage.
Secondly, this is a very friendly city. Almost anytime we brought out a map we had a local coming up to offer help. And we just found that whenever we took taxi rides or were in restaurants locals really went the extra distance to make us feel welcome here.
And lastly this is a very walk-able city. Most of the attractions are clustered.
And that's it for our quick trip to Belfast! As you can probably see, our visit was fairly short so we didn't get to do it all. If you have any suggestions of other sights and attractions worth checking out around Belfast, feel free to share those in the comments below.

After Dublin, we headed up to the tip top of Northern Ireland to see the UNESCO World Heritage Site, The Giant's Causeway. As there is no border crossing between Northern Ireland and the Repulic, it was a very straightforward drive. The only tricky part was navigating through Belfast which has modernized in the last couple of decades. We'd love to go back and explore that city a bit more. We arrived in late afternoon and parking was a challenge as crowds were still arriving. The visitor center / museum was fine and had decent bathrooms but lacking in science information. Unfortunately, my battery ran out near the end but we were able to return the next morning when there was barely anyone there and I focused on shooting 360 footage (check that out on our 360 Playlist). We stayed in a nice hostel in Portrush a few miles away which also has a train station and several hotels. Day tours from Belfast and Dublin are also an option if you lack rental car transportation.
While the causeway was impressive, we have similar formations in Montana. We were more impressed by the cliffs and beautiful scenery. What did you think of the Giant's Causeway?

Weekend In Belfast, Northern Ireland [Part 2]
Today we were going to take a Hop on Hop Off tour around Belfast but instead we ended up taking a Taxi Tour with Value Cabs. (not paid/sponsored or worked with before)
It was really good and so informative. We went into the streets and housing estates where The Troubles took place and saw a very tense and scarred side of Ireland.

Ireland is best known as a land of quaint villages, friendly people and wild natural beauty but there is another side to this emerald isle -- the urban charms of Dublin.

This convivial capital is truly a fascinating place with warm, sociable people, lovely architecture, excellent museums, great pubs, varied restaurants, endless entertainment and the most popular attraction, Guinness, in the pubs and at their storehouse display.
We'll start out with three main areas south of the river Liffey: Trinity College, St. Stephen's Green and Temple bar. And then up to pedestrian shopping street, and of course out to the Guinness Storehouse.
Trinity College is one of the world’s great schools and a leading attraction, with more than half a million visitors each year. People come to see the graceful campus with its wonderful collection of historic buildings and gardens arranged in a harmonious setting spanning 35 acres.
We'll see Temple Bar, Dublin's most popular gathering spot. Temple Bar is the nightlife center of town, a great place for a stroll, perhaps have a pint and catch some traditional music.
Beer-lovers must visit the Guinness Storehouse where you can learn all about the brewing of that wonderful dark stout and enjoy some fresh samples. It is the country's most popular tourist attraction with 1.5 million annual visitors. The actual brewery is one block over, and is off-limits to visitors, but this impressive showcase presents very entertaining, high-tech multimedia displays that tell the whole story in a fun way.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have made a surprise trip to Belfast as part of their pre-wedding tour of Britain.Belfast crowds were given the shock of their lives as the pair arrived unannounced in Northern Ireland, before going on a walkabout in the city centre and visiting the iconic Crown Liquor Saloon.They waved to the ecstatic crowds before heading inside the major landmark where they met bar staff, local musicians and had a Irish stew lunch, including a tutorial on how to pull the perfect pint of Guinness. Earlier in the day, the pair greeted stunned onlookers as they made their way inside the Eikon Exhibition Centre in Lisburn, surprising a huge crowd of unsuspecting children as they arrived inside the building.They received a rapturous reception from youngsters as they entered the huge performance arena, the former site of the Maze paramilitary prison where ten Irish republicans starved themselves to death. Prince Harry praised the youth-led peace-building initiative called Amazing the Space, and hinted to the turbulent history of Northern Ireland, declaring: 'Over the years religion has divided us but we're all the same underneath.'The royal trip, the couple's first official joint trip to Northern Ireland, will also see them learn the history of the doomed Titanic, when they visit a Belfast visitor attraction telling the passenger ship's story. During a visit to the Catalust Inc science park, the Prince and his bride-to-be appeared perplexed as they inspected prosthetic limbs made by a Northern Irish firm for film sets. Arriving at their third engagement of the day, at the hub for young entrepreneurs, the couple waved at well-wishers who had braved the rain to catch a glimpse of the royal visitors. Inside the facility in part of Belfast's regenerated docklands, they were greeted by a number of dignitaries, including Lord Mayor Nuala McAllister and East Belfast MP Gavin Robinson.
The Prince and his bride-to-be were visibly perplexed by Harry and Meghan touched down in Northern Ireland for an unannounced visit that follows on from high profile trips to other parts of the UK.
They have been touring Britain ahead of their May wedding and the prince will introduce his fiancee to Ulster during a series of events.
In keeping with royal visits to Northern Ireland details were not released in advance and the itinerary was not disclosed for security reasons.
Ms Markle wore a cream coat by Mackage, a dark green dress by Greta Constantine, a cream top by Victoria Beckham, tobacco heels by Jimmy Choo.
The Prince and Ms Markle had a private lunch in a romantic booth at The Crown Liquor Saloon, one of the oldest bars in Belfast.The Prince ordered sausage and champ while his fiancée tucked into the pub's signature Irish stew.

We’re on the Causeway Coastal trail here in Northern Ireland!
Driving the Causeway Coastal Route in Northern Ireland is one of the greatest drives in the world
By far I would say for me the biggest highlight was the Giant’s Causeway
I’ll never forget walking out there for the first time and
my jaw dropping because there’s all these basalt columns
you know they look like they’ve been placed there by an architect
Yeah legend has it that the giant Finn McCool made a giant causeway
hence the name
over to Scotland to fight with another giant
The Carrick-A-Rede Bridge
Now this is an old bridge that the fishermen used to use back in the day
You know what it’s been modernized now for tourists
When you take this bridge over
like the bridge is a highlight yes
but when you get out there and you’re standing
on these massive massive cliffs
you know overlooking the ocean
you really feel small
I really respected mother nature
when I was standing there
Yeah this is a wild coastal route
I’m telling you the waves are pounding
the cliffs are giant
these are some of the highest sea cliffs in the world
and when you’re standing out there
you’re just in awe
If you do get a chance
I highly recommend Ballintoy Harbour
this was one of my favourite stops
you really get up close to those wave crashing
against those cliffs and it really does take your breath away
when you’re standing there
the beauty about this place too is that
tour busses can’t get down there
and for those Game of Thrones TV buffs out there
this was used as Theon Greyjoy’s home
when he sailed his ship into the harbour
well it was Ballintoy harbour
And we can’t leave out the Dark Hedges
this is another Game of Thrones reference
it’s this grove of beach trees that tower
and make sort of a tree cave
over this really long road
It’s absolutely beautiful
it’s also Northern Ireland’s most photographed
tourist site
Having a car and doing our self-drive
around the coastal route was really key
because we could get there early in the morning
when no one else was there
and we had the Dark Hedges all to ourselves
And if you like castles
Dunluce Castle is another great stop
in Northern Ireland along the Coastal Route
again they don’t dress up their castles
you know it’s just overhanging on these cliffs
and you can just imagine what life would’ve been like
there when people were living there
One place that you gotta make sure you go out to
is the Mussenden Temple
now that’s one of the last stops
or it is the last stop on the Causeway Coastal Route
and then you go back into London Derry into
the cities and everything
but this is a nice stop and Dave loved photographing it
Yeah when I read about the Mussenden Temple
I was really curious because
you walk through a small settlement
and remnants of a settlement that’s there
and you get to the edge of this cliff and there’s
this very small stone temple
that just doesn’t look like it belongs
but it’s an incredible scene to photograph
One last thing that we have to recommend
is a little side trip that you can do
and that’s going out to Torr Head Drive
Not a lot of people make this drive out
but I highly recommend it because
as you get out t this point
you stand there and
it is the closest point to Scotland
Yes it is
It feels like you could almost reach out
and touch Scotland from there
The Giant’s Causeway Coastal Route
is just one of the best things anyone can do
it’s by far one of our favourite drives
we’ve ever done
I highly recommend it
