Places to see in ( Belfast - UK )
Belfast is Northern Ireland’s capital. It was the birthplace of the RMS Titanic, which famously struck an iceberg and sunk in 1912. This legacy is recalled in the renovated dockyards' Titanic Quarter, which includes the Titanic Belfast, an aluminium-clad museum reminiscent of a ship’s hull, as well as shipbuilder Harland & Wolff’s Drawing Offices and the Titanic Slipways, which now host open-air concerts.
Belfast is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, the second largest on the island of Ireland, and the heart of the tenth largest Primary Urban Area in the United Kingdom. Belfast was a centre of the Irish linen, tobacco-processing, rope-making and shipbuilding industries: in the early 20th century, Harland and Wolff, which built the RMS Titanic, was the world's biggest and most productive shipyard. Belfast played a key role in the Industrial Revolution, and was a global industrial centre until the latter half of the 20th century. It has sustained a major aerospace and missiles industry since the mid 1930s. Industrialisation and the inward migration it brought made Belfast Ireland's biggest city at the beginning of the 20th century.
Today, Belfast remains a centre for industry, as well as the arts, higher education, business, and law, and is the economic engine of Northern Ireland. The city suffered greatly during the Troubles, but latterly has undergone a sustained period of calm, free from the intense political violence of former years, and substantial economic and commercial growth. Additionally, Belfast city centre has undergone considerable expansion and regeneration in recent years, notably around Victoria Square.
Belfast is served by two airports: George Best Belfast City Airport in the city, and Belfast International Airport 15 miles (24 km) west of the city. Belfast is a major port, with commercial and industrial docks dominating the Belfast Lough shoreline, including the Harland and Wolff shipyard, and is listed by the Globalization and World Cities Research Network (GaWC) as a global city.

Transport Congestion, Safety and Over-Population in London (UK)
#population #transport #congestion
See for an elaboration of this presentation.
There’s little point complaining, about the congestion on the London Underground, when we are doing little to address the one factor that is putting pressure on the capital's transport system. Namely the increasing size of London's (and the UK's and the world's) population.

Information on Malthus from wikipedia ...
An Essay on the Principle of Population
Main article: An Essay on the Principle of Population
Malthus argued in his Essay (1798) that population growth generally expanded in times and in regions of plenty until the size of the population relative to the primary resources caused distress:
Yet in all societies, even those that are most vicious, the tendency to a virtuous attachment is so strong that there is a constant effort towards an increase of population. This constant effort as constantly tends to subject the lower classes of the society to distress and to prevent any great permanent amelioration of their condition.
— Malthus, T. R. 1798. An Essay on the Principle of Population. Chapter II, p. 18 in Oxford World's Classics reprint.
Malthus argued that two types of checks hold population within resource limits: positive checks, which raise the death rate; and preventive ones, which lower the birth rate. The positive checks include hunger, disease and war; the preventive checks: abortion, birth control, prostitution, postponement of marriage and celibacy.
The rapid increase in the global population of the past century exemplifies Malthus's predicted population patterns; it also appears to describe socio-demographic dynamics of complex pre-industrial societies. These findings are the basis for neo-malthusian modern mathematical models of long-term historical dynamics.
Traveling to Belfast Northern Ireland from South Wales: Christmas market and Belfast City Hall
Hello guys sharing my travel to belfast to see my family and a friend
Enjoy the video
Belfast (/ˈbɛlfɑːst/ BEL-fahst; from Irish: Béal Feirste, meaning mouth of the sand-bank ford,[11] Irish pronunciation: [bʲeːlˠ ˈfʲɛɾˠ(ə)ʃtʲə]) is the capital and largest city of Northern Ireland, standing on the banks of the River Lagan on the east coast of Northern Ireland. It is the 12th-largest city in the United Kingdom[12] and the second-largest on the island of Ireland. It had a population of 333,871 as of 2015.[2] Belfast suffered greatly in the Troubles: in the 1970s and 1980s it was reported to be one of the world's most dangerous cities,[13] with a homicide rate around 31 per 100,000.[14]

Whitehead | County Antrim | Blackhead Lighthouse | Belfast Lough | Discover Northern Ireland
Whitehead is a beautiful seaside town in County Antrim on Northern Ireland's east coast looking out on the opening to Belfast Lough. it is situated about 14 miles from Belfast City between Carrickfergus and Larne.
Before the Plantation of Ulster WHitehead was known as Kinbaine, from the Irish Cionn Bán, meaning 'the white head'. Whitehead in Northern Ireland has a population of around 3,800 as of the 2011 census.
County Antrim's east coast gem, Whitehead offers beautiful coastal scenery overlooking the mouth of Belfast Lough. Whitehead offers a lovely family day out at the seaside, where you can go sailing, fishing or walking. There is much to see and do in Whitehead.
Whitehead is near to Blackhead Lighthouse. There is a coastal path that brings you from Whitehead and up to the lighthouse around the rocky coastline. The path runs northeast from the seaside town of Whitehead to and around Blackhead lighthouse. The path is lined with grassland and interesting wildlife and their habitats on one side and Belfast Lough opening out to views of Scotland on a clear day on the other side.
With a colourful seafront, Whitehead is a welcoming and charming town on Northern Ireland's east coast. Accessible via train Whitehead is home to the Whitehead Railway Museum. Officially opened in 2017, the museum combines past and present modes of transport from today's locomotive to the steam engines made in the 1800s. The exhibition is inclusive and informative and fully accessible via wheelchair.
Whitehead also has plenty of restaurants and eateries for all the family, plenty of coastal views and walks to breathe in the fresh, sea air and enjoy with all the family.

Weddings at National Museums Northern Ireland
Tanya and David celebrated their wedding within the unique and historic setting of the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum, located just 7 miles outside Belfast City Centre. They had their ceremony in the historic Omagh Meeting House church, situated within 1900s Ballycultra Town in the Folk Museum. Their traditional ceremony was followed by a reception in Cultra Manor, a luxurious manor house dating back to 1902, also located within the grounds of the Ulster Folk & Transport Museum. We were delighted when Tanya and David allowed us to make a recording of their wedding day which we hope will inspire future brides and grooms seeking a venue that's truly unique and special.
