Narnia Trail - CS Lewis - Rostrevor Northern Ireland
Following Narnia Trail while being on a trip after watching the movie - Narnia Trail is found in Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor ( where the kids kept following up with what they have seen in order to reach all the things and spots which might be related to the movie in this park - and they succeeded at getting to their destinations.
The Chronicles of Narnia from which the movie was made and also this trail came to live was a book series written by the British novelist Clive Staples Lewis who was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. CS Lewis has been famously known for several books he has written from which The Chronicles of Narnia is considered one of the top when it comes to fiction and which has been popularized on stage, TV, radio, and cinema and was also the one mostly sold.
This trail - Narnia Trail - which is found in Kilbroney Park ( brings to life the story of Narnia as well as others in this area of the Mournes. The Narnia legends are interpreted along a short family loop trail which starts with the entrance through a wardrobe - just as if one is getting into a magical world - and then leads the visitor to different other stations and themes that include the Beaver's House, the Citadels, the Tree People, the Chairs, the lantern, as well as other things which we managed to lay our hands on before leaving this magical place and getting back out to the real world.
In order to make it much interesting for the kids and related to stories they have seen or other places they have visited before, we decided first to take them the day before to CS Lewis Square in Newtownards Road, Belfast, where they also got the chance to see different sculptures related to the same story and walk among them while following a map given in hand so that they would not miss anything of the trip out ( It was considered a good trip for them although we believe that the Narnia Trail was much more exciting for them with all the walking, running, and searching.
After getting outside this magical place and passing by those different spots inside, we then headed for the next destination - which the kids thought I was mad at first for suggesting and thinking about it, but I was not =) - and which was climbing the mountain to reach up where the Cloughmore Stone is found.
The Cloughmore Stone, which is another important legend - that of the Giant Fionn McCumhaill - linked to the Narnia trail, is a huge granite boulder that is found 1,000 feet above the village of Rostrevor in County Down, Northern Ireland, on a relatively flat area and which we decided to come up for and check in real life instead of always seeing it in pictures - I have to admit, it was tiring but really exciting to come up there to finish the whole trip and plan you have placed down before leaving home.
Due to the tiring day of walking first in the park while trying to find the trail and keeping up with its magical world inside and then going up there to the top to see the Cloughmore Stone - which was the hardest - we had to make a quick stop for dinner at Newcastle before hitting the road and going back home once again (
It is actually one of the good things that one could do in Northern Ireland when it comes to thinking about adventures and parks. Visiting the Narnia Trail and keeping up with the magical world of it inside the park is one thing done in appreciation for the great work of the novelist CS Lewis, but again, that comes in addition to CS Lewis Square that carries different giant sculptures and make people feel that they are real from the way they are created and displayed (
The inspiration of this amazing writer who left behind a wide range of stories and who has the most famous ones which we are running behind everywhere, is always found in these places, making the Irish people reveal the amount of love and appreciation carried for this man and his work (
This was a long day and we had no time to go and visit other places, but for those who might be staying in Newcastle ( there are actually other beautiful places which they could pass by, such as the Tollymore Forest Park ( or for those who are fans of Game of Thrones movie - which most of its scenes where taken in Ireland - they could go and check door number three at the Percy French Restaurant in Newcastle, county Down (

Hidden Treasure - BBC (2003) dir. Dan Kendall
No, I don't own the rights and blah blah blah. If you want me to take it down I bally will y'know, but don't come crying to me when you wipe out the master tapes.
Strange as it may seem, Miranda Krestovnikoff was not always the sleek professional voice of BBC scientific programming she is now. As this early effort proves, she was once like the rest of us - an excitable, slightly annoying little puppy, frequent with interruptions and quippy asides. But she probably grew up watching Annika Rice, so perhaps we can forgive her bouncy, Tigger-like optimism in this first episode of the BBC's response to the all-conquering Time Team on Channel 4 - itself something of an impudent pup in the eyes of the ancient and oh-so-high-and-mighty Beeblords.
This series evidently didn't stick around very long - certainly not with the staying power of Time Team. One gets the impression that whereas TT relied solely on the archaeological interest, HT (in a desperate bid for a usp) looked also at the obvious financial rewards made by amateur detectorists. You ended up with a sort of 'Cash in the Attic' version of Time Team, cheapened by its own design - a great shame that the BBC have opted for this format on so many occasions. Anyone would think they were short of ideas or something.
The YT translator's priceless effort at pronouncing her surname was so funny I decided I would preserve it for posterity, and for me she will now forever be Miranda Christophe knock-off.

Everything is complicated by the sudden arrival of the Mexican Army led by a brutal Colonel whose face looks very familiar to the town priest.
Reviews:
A Town Called Hell is a wonderful western that takes place in Mexico, circa 1905. Telly Savalas plays a memorable role as a villain looking for a mysterious man named Augila. There is some good footage of hanging people. Telly Savalas's death scene is hilarious as it is brilliant. Martin Landau plays a jewish/mexican colonel who gets to wear a funny-looking brown mexican uniform, but no beanie. Robert Shaw, known for his classic performance as Quint in Jaws, plays a priest.... or is he? Stella Stevens, a has-been, plays a blond prostitute. There are some good action scenes and Johnny Horton's The Battle Of New Orleans can be heard in the soundtrack in a flashback scene at a mexican dance party. A man hiding underneath a deck tries to obtain a fallen coin above with a stick. A satired attack on a church opens up the film. Everything in it is fabulous. This is a hard to find film, along with 2 other mexican western classics, Blood and Guns and Villa Rides. See it, you'll laugh yourself silly. written by MovieMan-112

Tom does the BLACK MOUNTAIN RIDGE TRAIL
I decided I needed to make a few wee videos about this wonderful place that has spectacular views over Belfast, Belfast Lough, Slemish, Sallagh Brae, Lough Neagh, Strangford Lough, Scabo and away down to the Mournes.
I'm talking of course about Divis and the Black Mountain. A magical, mystical place, just a stone's throw from Belfast city centre. A totally underrated and under exposed hidden gem and get away from it all, treasure. Come and see it for yourself!
You will be totally amazed at the panoramic views over Ulster, laid out like a carpet before you. It's like looking down on Belfast from an aeroplane!
It is no lie to state that Divis and the Black Mountain offer unrivalled spectacular views across Northern Ireland!
The two mountains rest in the heart of the Belfast Hills, which provide the backdrop to the city's skyline that we see everyday from below. This rich, varied archaeological landscape is home to a host of wildlife. There are walking trails along a variety of terrain: through heath, on stone tracks, along boardwalks and road surface.
The land holds the peaks of Divis Mountain, Black Mountain, Mount Gilbert and Armstrongs Hill, and also the headwaters of the Clady Water, Forth River, Ballygomartin River, Collin River and the Crumlin River.
I don't think there are better views anywhere else in Ireland over a major city and yet this wild place remains largely unknown and unsung amongst all but a few. Why?

Divis and Black Mountain Ridge Walk Hidden Gem
This surely has to be one of the best walking trails to be found anywhere. Yet it remains relatively unknown to a huge number of people living in Northern ireland while the majority of tourists are completely unaware of the fanatastic vews it offers of Belfast, Belfast Docks, Strangford Lough, Scotland, Slemish and the Antrim Plateau, The Mounes and Lough Neagh. What an amazing elevated spot.
'This walk follows tracks across blanket bog and upland heath, touching the summits of the Black Mountain and the Black Hill, edging along the flank of Divis. For 50 years, until 2005, this was forbidden territory because the British army used Divis for reconnaissance.'
The Divis and Black Mountain are owned and looked after by the National Trust. Park in the local car park just beside the Divis road or drive up to the National Trust Rangers Barn and park in behind. There is an opportunity to buy tea/coffe etc here and there are good toilets but be aware that the main gate closes at 4 pm so do not get you car locked in. The walk is around 4 miles long along reasonable flat terrain. It is all pathed with either wooden boardwalk tarmac or stone paving. The views cannot be bettered. Who knows the famous Divis and Black mountain ponies may walk over to you to say hello as they did with us.
To get to Divis drive down Stockman's Lane and keep going straight along Kennedy Way through the roundabouts. Come to the Monagh bypass and at the top turn left up the Upper Springfield road branching off for Hannahstown. Drive along to you see a signpost for Divis pointing to the right. The car park is a mile or so up this road.
