Ukraine Orthodox Believers Celebrate Easter: Odesa devotees re-enact crucifixion of Christ
In Ukraine's port city of Odesa tourists and locals alike have been captivated by a life-like display of a mock crucifixion which seeks to emulate the suffering of Jesus Christ. This is the third consecutive year in a row the re-enactment of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ has been held in Odesa with hundreds of people taking part.

Highlights of a Ukrainian wedding on June 6, 2010 in Spokane, Washington. Our dear friends' son Ivan Yurishko, Jr from Khust, Ukraine marries Angelica Sederova from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The wedding was held in Spokane where most of the families could meet and where many friends from Portland, Sacramento and Seattle could attend. See this YouTube version focusing on the music that Ukrainians are noted for. Ivan and Angelica will make their life together in Khust, Ukraine.

Easter on Ukraine Frontlines: Militant shelling reported in eastern towns of Avdiivka and Pisky
Ukrainian servicemen stationed in the country’s volatile east have marked Orthodox Easter this weekend. Volunteers brought traditional Easter cakes, also known as ‘paskas’, to the soldiers who are away from their loved ones during one of the most important holiday’s for Christians worldwide.

Ха́рьков (укр. Ха́рків) — второй по численности населения город Украины, административный центр Харьковской области. Во времена СССР был крупнейшим центром танко-, тракторо-, турбиностроения и третьим по величине индустриальным, научным и транспортным центром после Москвы и Ленинграда. Во второй половине XX века — главный транспортный узел Юго-Восточной Европы.
Современный город был основан в 1630 году переселенцами с центральной и западной Украины на месте древнего русского городища, идентифицируемого иногда как половецкий город XI века Шарукань либо гуннский город V века Харька. С декабря 1917 года по январь 1918 года столица Украинской Народной Республики Советов, в феврале — марте 1918 года столица Донецко-Криворожской советской республики, в марте — июне 1919 года и с 19 декабря 1919 года по 24 июня 1934 года — столица Украинской Советской Социалистической Республики.
В городе 142 научно-исследовательских института, 45 высших учебных заведений, включая Харьковский университет (пятый в Российской империи; основан в 1805 году) и политехнический институт (второй политехнический вуз Российской империи; основан в 1885 году), в которых учится 230 тысяч студентов; 16 музеев, городская картинная галерея, 6 государственных театров, 80 библиотек.
Награждён орденами Ленина и Октябрьской Революции , а также наградами Совета Европы. 8 июля 2013 года горсовет Харькова присвоил городу звание «город воинской славы» (впервые в истории Украины).
Органом местного самоуправления является Харьковский городской совет.
В 2012 году был одним из четырёх городов Украины, принимавших Чемпионат Европы по футболу 2012.
С 1918 по 1919 год Харьков был столицей Украинской Народной Советской и Донецко-Криворожской Советской республик в составе Советской России, во второй половине 1919 года — центром Харьковской военной области ВСЮР, с конца 1919 по 1934 год — столицей независимой Украинской Советской Республикой, ставшей в 1922 г. союзной республикой в СССР.
В Харькове 9-12 февраля 1918 года была провозглашена Донецко-Криворожская Советская Республика в составе РСФСР со столицей в Харькове. 7 апреля 1918 года Харьков заняли немецкие войска; столица ДКР перенесена в Луганск. Вместе с немцами в Харьков вступил Запорожский корпус под командованием полковника УНР П. Болбочана. С 1 мая в Харькове была утверждена власть гетмана Скоропадского. В ноябре немецкие войска были выведены из Харькова, а 18 ноября Запорожский корпус, стоявший в городе, и служивший с мая 1918 года гетману, объявил в городе власть Директории УНР.
Город был оккупирован 24—25 октября 1941 года силами 6-й армии вермахта под командованием Вальтера фон Рейхенау
16 февраля 1943 в процессе развития наступления Советской Армии, начатого после Сталинградской битвы, Харьков был освобожден силами Воронежского фронта под командованием генерала Ф. И. Голикова в ходе Харьковской наступательной операции 2.02.-3.03.1943 года

Prisoner Swap in Eastern Ukraine: 25 Ukrainian soldiers may be released before Orthodox Easter
About 25 Ukrainian soldiers held captive by Russian-backed separatist forces could be free by the end of this week.
This is according to a post by Iryna Herashchenko - first deputy chairwoman of the Ukrainian parliament.
Herashchenko claims the Minsk humanitarian group will hold yet another meeting today. The last meeting led to the agreement of an exchange format. Herashchenko says the prisoner swap will likely take place before the Orthodox Easter.

Sightseeing tour in Dnepropetrovsk
Our excursion in Dnepropetrovsk will begin from Monument to the Glory with a wonderful view of the legendary Dnipro.
Further along the avenue Karl Marx, we will go down to the October Square which is the part of the historical architecture and parks complex of the central part of the city. We will Visit the Historical Museum and Spaso-Preobrazhensky Cathedral.
The next item on our tour – one of the peaceful parks, the pride of the citizens- Shevchenko Park and adjoining Monastic Island.
A little later we will walk along the longest promenade of Europe, where we can have a rest on wrought iron benches and admire the White Swan Fountain.
We will also visit the world’s largest Jewish Center Menora.
Next – the heart of Dnepropetrovsk – European Boulevard and Freedom Square. You may want to return to childhood for a moment and ride on the fabulous French carousel which has recently graced the center of the city.
Besides, on our list “must see”: the Hotel Ukraine, Trinity Church, Boulevard, where you can buy exclusive hand-made souvenirs, opera Theatre, and, of course , impressive Ekaterynoslavsky Boulevard.
Throughout our route the most popular cafes and restaurants are situated. That is why it will be not only interesting and entertaining but also is very tasty!
