Maria Theresien Strasse in Innsbruck Austria
there are two famous Streets in Innsbruck, the Herzog Friedrich Strasse, where the famed Golden Roof is located and the Maria Theresian Strasse, which starts just after the Herzog Friedrich Strasse, after you crossed the Marktgraben street. The street stretches from the Triumphal Arch to the Old Town (Altstadt) and is filled with shops, cafes, souvenir stores and other attractions of Innsbruck such as St. Anne’s Column, Spitalkirche, the Triumphal Arch,Palais Trapp, Servite and Monastery, Chapel of St. George to name a few

Innsbruck in The Tyrol or Tirol, Austria. View from afar as cars and pedestrians approach the Triumphpforte or Triumphal Arch in Innsbruck. Close up of the portrait of Archduke Leopold, and Maria Ludovica. Close up of a smiling face over the arch.
Innsbruck. Austria. 2000
English translation below. April 2000.
ENGLISH. I visited the town when Haider was still secretary of the FPÖ. Innsbruck is known as the capital of the Alps. It is the paradise for skiers, snowboarders and winter sports enthusiasts from all over Tyrol. But Innsbruck is not just a mountain town. It is historical and cultural city. The most interesting monuments of Innsbruck are located in the Altstadt (Old Town), Here you can see the Golden Roof (the Goldenes Dachl) the most representative monument of the city. It is a a kind of balcony, whose roof is formed by well 2657 small golden copper tiles in focus. Next door is the Helbling House, a lovely white and blue Gothic and Baroque palace. A few steps away you can visit the Imperial Palace, Hofburg, which was formerly the residence of the emperor of Austria, and here that in the 1848 the future Emperor Franz Joseph met the Princess Sissi. Always staying in the center are the most important churches: the Cathedral of St. Jacob (Dom St. Jakob), with its towers and the splendid cupola, the Hofkirche, Church of Court. The most famous street in Innsbruck is Maria-Theresien-Strasse, in fact it is the central street and shopping, Here was erected in 1704 the column of SaInt Ann (Annasäule), to celebrate the liberation from the Bavarian troops. At the end of the street is the Triumphal Arch (Triumphpforte) erected in 1765 for the wedding of Leopold. You can admire a beautiful view of the whole city from the Civic Tower (Stadtturm). Innbruck is a creature of king Maximilian I, to him the city owes the improvement of the urban furnishing, to the city this King owes the fame of his kingdom in history. Film shot in 2000 with Sony Hi8 cassette camera.

Innsbruck is the provincial capital of Tyrol. Located in the broad valley between high mountains, the so-called North Chain in the Karwendel Alps. It has twice hosted the Winter Olympics making it not only an interesting and beautiful situated city but the largest ski resort in the alps. It is located both close to Munich and northern Italy making it a must see alpine destination.
Innsbruck became the capital of Tyrol in 1429 and in the 15th century the city became a centre of European politics and culture as emperor Maximilian I moved the imperial court to Innsbruck in the 1490s. Many old buildings from the middle ages and modern times survived in the heart of Innsbrucks old town.
The city is well known for its sporting opportunities, especially alpine sports, as it is in the Alps and surrounded by mountains. Several ski resorts are situated inside the city territory or within short distance. Innsbruck was one of the centers of snowboard boom in the 1990's and the derived distinct subculture endured until today. The population of skateboarders, snowboarders and people alike is therefore above average and nothing unusual to the people.
This culture is also celebrated by a lot of events in and around Innsbruck especially in the winterseason, attracting (predominantly young) people from all around the world. There are two universities and several colleges in Innsbruck, with over 25,000 students altogether, (including a significant Italian population) making the city's nightlife very lively.
From the main station (Hauptbahnhof) to the city center is a relatively short and enjoyable 10 to 15 minute walk. Walk out of the Hauptbahnhof, cross the street at the train station cross walk, turn to your right, and go down to the next street to your left. Walk on this street until Maria-Theresien Strasse, then turn right toward the city center. Taking this street all the way leads to the pedestrian zone and the Golden Roof.

Principais locais mostrados:
1. Vista do centro histórico, que dispensa comentários.
Muita subida e descida. Crianças cansadas também não recomendo.
4. Hofkirche.
Cuidado que fica meio escondida a entrada;
5. Rio Inn.
6. Cathedral of St. James (Dom zu St. Jakob)
7. The Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl)
8. Town Tower (Stadtturm)
9. RathausGalerien
10. St. Anna's Column (Annasaule)
11. Triumphal Arch (Triumphpforte)
12. Spitalskirche
13. Ottoburg
14. Jesuit Church
15. Servite Church
16. Schloss Ambras.
