A1 no.60163 'Tornado' at SPEED on the ECML with 'The Yorkshire Pullman' - Saturday 15th June 2019
#Tornado #YorkshirePullman #ECML
Saturday 15th June would see us follow two railtours, for 'Clun Castle' and 'Thames Valley and Chiltern Luncheon' click here...
Saturday 15th June would see UK Railtours offer a special steam hauled Belmond British Pullman tour. Rather than the regular Surrey Hills and Bristol routes this one would see a dash up the ECML from London Kings Cross to York and then onto Scarborough with A1 no.60163 'Tornado' in charge.
I was able to stay close to home and see this tour running at speed on the southern end of the ECML in-between an afternoon out chasing 'Clun Castle'. So for the morning it is Knebworth and the lack of a Stevenage pick up means Tornado is able to accelerate through having moved back onto the slow line just round the corner after the two track section over Digswell Viaduct.
The return leg was heavily delayed due to first a delayed departure and then being diverted via Wakefield due to points failure between Doncaster and York. Running around an hour late (thank goodness for Real Time Trains - I left house at the last minute!) we see 'Tornado' dash through Welwyn North on the final leg into Kings Cross.

60163 Flying Scotsman Working The Great Britain Rail Tour 29 04 2017
Kings Cross to York with Flying Scotsman in charge on 29.04.2017, passing through the Fen at Yaxley, Peterborough. This little foot crossing is a great place to get trains close up at speed. With a line speed of 100mph on this stretch, it can feel a bit too close at times. However, as it's the first time I've seen Flying Scotsman on the main line, this place seemed ideal as it's a bit of a hike from civilization, only three other people turned up here today. Anyway, enjoy the video, threw a few regular workings in for variety. Thanks for viewing.
Flying Scotsman - Great Britain XI Tour Day 1
Running as 1Z60 from Kings Cross, 60130 Flying Scotsman coasts along the Hertford loop just north of Watton-at-Stone 3 minutes early on a bright and warm Thursday morning.
The route crisscrosses ECML, branching off at Hitchin towards Royston and on to Cambridge. The train then heads northwards across the Fens to Ely, then on to March, before returning to ECML at Peterborough. Just north of Peterborough the train leaves the ECML to follow the former Great Northern Railway's line to picturesque Spalding.
Following a short break of around an hour in Lincoln the train will continue to Doncaster, to meet the ECML once again heading for York, home of the National Railway Museum. The train then branches off the ECML at York and takes the scenic North Eastern line towards Malton and Scarborough.
Day One of the Great Britain IV Tour
LNER A4 Class 4-6-2 no 60019 Bittern (running as LNER 4492 Dominion of New Zealand) - departing from Kings Cross, London at 0854 heading for Edinburgh.
Saturday 16 April 2011 - I find myself heading off to Peterborough Station to see this... and am glad I did. I've tried to make this a surprise for my Dad (aka TheDoodyman) - hope you like it Dad.
As usual it was a case of me trying to keep out of other people's way whilst they totally disregarded me and as always the non-stop chatter that accompanies a red recording light!
Anyway, I got what I think is a half decent effort and hope someone out there likes it.
Thanks for watching.

Great Britain 4 - 4492 on the ECML
LNER A4 class pacific loco 4492 Dominion Of New Zealand (actually 4464 Bittern in disguise) hauling the first leg of this year's Great Britain rail tour from London Kings Cross to Newcastle. She's seen passing Creeton, on the climb to Stoke Tunnel, and from the Great North Road at Sutton-on-Trent, north of Newark. This was her first public train since she was repainted into 1937 Coronation livery. The valences over the driving wheels, in particular, make a big difference to her appearance. Sunny Saturday Afternoon at Leeds Station | 18/01/2020

Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action. During a bright sunny afternoon, I popped back over to my hometown’s railway station, Leeds and see how much has change with the type of traffic that passes through and stops here. One things that was different for sure was the brand-new units from both Northern and TPE making regular appearances as more are coming into passenger service.
The highlight of the day though was the DRS 20’s hauling their own exclusive rail tour to bid farewell before they retire from operation after being on the British network for sixty years now. Dozens for photographers came out to see them go which is why some were in my shots partly blocking my view. Hopefully this won’t spoil your time watching and at least enjoy everything you folks see in this film.
Trains include: LNER Azuma & 225 set, CrossCountry Voyagers, Transpennine Express 185’s, ‘Nova 1’ 802’s & ‘Nova 3’ 68+Mk5a’s, Northern Pacer, 150, 158’s, 170, 195’s, 331 & 333 and Direct Rail Service 20302/305 hauling the ‘DRS Class 20 Farewell’ rail tour

60103 'Flying Scotsman' on 'The Great Britain X'
Well. This is my first YouTube video so I thought I'd kick things off with none other than 'Flying Scotsman'. Firstly, may I apologise for the man in front of me in the video & that his head features, I also apologise for the shakiness of the shot. Right, to business!
Here we see LNER A3 No. 60103 'Flying Scotsman' on Day 1 of the 9 day annual 'Great Britain' railtour & is seen just north of Sandy station at New Zealand Bridge.
The tour had been running early up until Digswell, where I presume the train was stopped to allow other traffic to cross the viaduct. After a lengthy stop at Digswell, the train was a few minutes down, however, by Arlesey, the train was back on time & passed Sandy 1 minute early, passing the cameras a couple of minutes later.
Enjoy.

Bristol (Dr. Day’s Jn) to Newport (Maindee North Jn) – Hastings DEMU cab ride – 24 March 2018
*The Sixty Marches* charter, Part 4:
Cab view from Bristol (Dr. Day’s Junction) to Newport (Maindee North Junction). Filmed from Hastings Diesels Limited’s preserved Hastings DEMU on Saturday 24 March 2018, during the outward leg of The Sixty Marches private charter.
.
In this video we travel the 25 miles and 29 chains across Bristol, Gloucestershire and through the Severn Tunnel into Gwent. As it begins, we have just turned off the Great Western main line near Bristol Temple Meads; we follow the CrossCountry Route (Bristol to Gloucester Line) up Filton Bank (which has been re-quadrupled since this was filmed), then the Filton – Patchway spur. At Patchway we join the South Wales Main Line and proceed through the Severn Tunnel, which for a century was the longest underwater tunnel in the world at 7.01 km. Emerging with a slightly wet windscreen into Gwent, Wales, we continue at speed along the flatlands to the Maindee triangle just outside Newport where we turn right towards Hereford.
.
This outing began at Hastings and ran via Tonbridge, Redhill and Guildford to Reading; then from Reading via Hungerford (part 1) to the Westbury area (part 2) where we turned right at Heywood Road Junction, through Bradford-on-Avon and Bath to Filton (part 3), through the Severn Tunnel into Wales, to Maindee Junction (Newport) (this part) for the line through Abergavenny to Hereford (part 5, to follow); the return journey was via the same route. We will produce video footage of the entirety of the rest of this journey to Hereford.
.
Video footage is from an unattended unmonitored forward-facing cab-camera in motor coach 60116 Mountfield.

* Outward:
Our return journey’s route was changed just a day or two before the trip because of a bridge strike — from Hereford to Filton Abbey Wood we were supposed to have been routed via Worcester and the Gloucester area to Yate and Bristol Parkway, but as things turned out we had to retrace our steps via the Severn Tunnel. The following shows our original route.

The Last GN 313 - Gerry's Farewell 313 Tour
Yesterday was a sad moment in our hearts as the PEPs bowed out on the ECML. I was tasked with Liam's rail Photography to go round and get many shots of it at different locations. It was a highly successful day, one not to be forgotten, ever!
