Śpiączka cukrzycowa w Bogocie:) Kolumbia na słodko! / Coma diabético en Bogotá:) La dulce Colombia!
(Aktywujcie napisy PL, ES, EN) W ponad stuletniej restauracji w Bogocie, LAS MARGARITAS, szef kuchni i właściciel, JULIO RIOS, nagotował dla nas pysznych, regionalnych słodkości!
Produkcja: Aleksandra Andrzejewska
Realizacja: Juan David Silva Torres

COLOMBIA: BOGOTA: CAR BOMB EXPLODES IN BUSY STREET
Spanish/Nat
A powerful car bomb has exploded in a busy street in an upmarket part of the Colombian capital, Bogota, killing six people and injuring at least twelve others.
The bomb, apparently placed in a green Renault car, destroyed a house and a restaurant and blew out the windows of banks, hotels and seven-storey apartment buildings 50 metres across the street.
No armed group has claimed responsibility for the bombing so far, although there is growing speculation that drug-traffickers are behind the attack.
For the second time this week, a car bomb has exploded in the Colombian capital, Bogota.
The powerful bomb ripped through a residential area in the north of the city, killing six people and injuring at least 12 others.
The bomb, apparently containing ten kilogrammes of dynamite, left a one-metre-deep crater in the street.
There was also extensive damage to nearby houses and cars.
One of the wounded described what happened.
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish)
There was an explosion. I don't know what happened and when I opened the door the whole thing blew up. We don't know anything more than that. It looks like the bomb was just over there. I have been injured but I can't leave my house because they will loot it.
SUPER CAPTION: Francisco, Car bomb victim
The mayor of Bogota said the bomb could be a response to a government move against drug traffickers.
Colombia has again decided to start extraditing alleged drug traffickers to the United States.
The Supreme Court ruled this week that the extradition of two alleged drug-traffickers, a Colombian and a Venezuelan, could take place.
It's now up to the government of President Andres Pastrana to give the go-ahead.
The Colombian authorities have offered a 50-thousand U-S dollar reward to anybody offering information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.

COLOMBIA: COUNTERFEITING OPERATION UNCOVERED
Spanish/Nat
The biggest U-S dollar counterfeiting operation ever uncovered in Colombia has finally been put to a halt.
Colombian police were joined by the U-S Secret Service in putting an end to the illegal operation.
The counterfeiters had apparently been operating for the last 10 years, producing (M) millions of dollars worth of fake bills for distribution in the U-S and Europe.
Officials said that criminals had literally been cranking out (M) millions of dollars in an underground room in a remote mountainous region.
In a separate development, Colombian police busted an international drugs ring, seizing just over two and a half (2,65) kilos of heroin.
Over 12 people were arrested in several cities as part of the drugs busting operation.
SOUNDBITE: (Spanish)
It is amazing how this factory was built with sophisticated engineering, with the factory inside a bunker, with printing machinery and all the necessary elements to produce dollars. It is amazing because the factory is under a banana plantation. As you know it is a very difficult place to access and we calculate that the factory has been operating here for the last 10 years.

The destination of these dollars was the U-S market and the Ecuadorian market. With their 'dollarisation' of their economy, these dollars would have been welcome there.

In an underground room in a remote mountainous region, criminals were literally cranking out millions of U.S. dollars and infiltrating much of it to the United States. The biggest-ever dollar counterfeiting operation ever uncovered in Colombia is finally put to a halt by police who are assisted by the U.S. Secret Service. Everything you need to make dollars is right here, a police general says in the subterranean chamber, as a printing press spits out fake U.S. currency, adding to the dlrs 3 million stacked on tables. The bust highlights a problem in a country more known for drug trafficking. Also last night Colombian police announced they had busted an international drugs ring with in an operation shared with the D.I.A. Police seized 2,65 kilos of heroin in the operation and over 12 people were arrested in several Colombian cities.

VOICE-OVER:

In a banana plantation, up a flight of stone steps and into an underground room.

0019
It's the biggest and most sophisticated counterfeiting operation ever uncovered in Colombia, complete with lithographic printing machines, guillotines for cutting up the money sheets and drying racks.

Government-Backed Colombian Death Squads Wreak Havoc
Paramilitary Death Squads (1998) - Are reports of indiscriminate killing sprees in the Colombian hinterland true?
Subscribe to Journeyman for news and science reports every weekday:
All over Colombia the AUC paramilitaries massacred so-called guerrilla sympathisers and ‘cleansed’ the areas for the army.
Refugees tell stories of wildly indiscriminate killing sprees: “They cut people’s heads off. Many people were disembowelled. They are laying down the seeds of terror.” We track the paras to a wealthy ranch they now use as a training base. With the backing of these ranchers the AUC and its leader, Carlos Castano, defeated the guerrillas and liberated them from the guerrilla’s protection rackets and raids. The AUC are now maintained by such landowners as virtual private armies. But the fear and death spread by the new power brokers is a heavy price to pay for their security. And now, as the government tries to broker peace, the force it has unleashed goes on killing and prolonging the agony of civil war in Colombia.
