Trail riding Rhayader Feb 2019
Nice day out. some short clips of some of the things we did. there was many hours off road on various terrains. Well worth the visit to work on your riding skills and to get out on the hills and forests of mid Wales. What an excellent day.
North Yorkshire Moors trip (4/5)
Decided to take a road trip around the north Yorkshire moors, Starting from Stokesley heading to Helmsley via Chopgate on the B1257, then onto Pickering on the A170, then north to Whitby on the A169. I didn't stop at Whitby, but headed west on the A171 to Guisborough then south west on the A173 through Langbaurgh and back to Stokesley. Shot with a DRIFT HD 1080P on a 1985 Kawasaki GPZ600R
Canoeing the Mawddach Estuary
The Mawddach Estuary on the West Coast of Wales is one of my favourite canoe trips. This one was done in January with a moderate west wind to assist. It was a neap tide so there wasn't much of a push from the current and it did mean we hit quite a few shallow.
We started at Fairbourne Point and finished at Penmaenpool.
I will head back there on a spring tide and on a clearer day for the views. We were missing the backdrop of mountains.

Snowdonia Discovery Route
Here’s the full video of my two-day, 635-mile trip around Snowdonia National Park last Monday and Tuesday. I did the Adventure Bike Magazine Snowdonia Discovery Route pretty much turn for turn, but split over two days. The original file (9 tracks) is at As noted, this route introduced some rough single lane roads that were just phenomenal. I think Snowdonia is an excellent two-day trip— a great alternative when you don’t have six days for Scotland. In the video below, I focus on these small or unnamed roads—some were too short, but others were really amazing. (Even if I had to chase herds of sheep off the road.) Gravel on some roads and tight switchbacks might limit the fun for some bikes. A big windstorm on the first day required some slower riding when even my 1090 R was getting pushed sideways. I lucked out at the hostel when the host let me park in the wind shadow of the building, and I got a private room when no others arrived to share. Hiking up the base of Tryfan was great that evening. I felt lucky to do these roads on weekdays, even if I had a storm and rain. They were mostly empty, but I bet that changes on weekends. Sorry the video is nine minutes, but the route is intense.

Snowdonia - One Big Adventure
Eryri Centres of Excellence
Creating a world-class outdoor adventure destination
Meirionnydd in south Snowdonia is one of the UK's top visitor destinations, attracting hundreds of thousands of people to its spectacular scenery, rugged countryside and outdoor adventure activities each year.
Snowdonia - one big adventure is a £4 million project creating and developing the best outdoor adventure opportunities the sector can offer through four key sites.
Antur 'Stiniog, Blaenau Ffestiniog
Antur Stiniog is developing the first mountain bike trails in Blaenau Ffestiniog. They will be world-class trails capable of attracting mountain bikers of all abilities, and the development of a dedicated visitor centre at Llechwedd with café, conference facilities, showers and bike workshop. They will include four challenging downhill trails and jump site together with a gentler 8.5km cross-country trail around Llyn Tanygrisiau.
Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park, Dolgellau
Forestry Commission Wales' Coed y Brenin Forest Park near Dolgellau is already well-known for its awesome mountain bike trails and visitor facilities. Snowdonia -- one big adventure is enhancing the Park further with additional mountain biking (MTB) trails for a wider range of ages and abilities, including the new 'blue graded' MinorTaur trail, skills area and improved visitor centre facilities.
Prysor Angling, Trawsfynydd
Llyn Trawsfynydd already attracts a wide range of anglers locally and from further afield. The lake is considered to be one of the finest trout fisheries in the country, with international competitions being held regularly for the Stocheck Rainbow and Wild Brown Trout. Pike have recently become the choice of an increasing number of anglers at the lake and with a large number of fish over the magical 20lb being caught already, the lake is expected to gain a reputation for fine specimens of Pike. With the support of Snowdonia -- one big adventure, the Prysor Angling Association is creating new facilities for anglers and improving activities at the lake. The aim is to have a fishing destination like no other.
Gwersyll yr Urdd Glan-llyn, Llanuwchllyn, Bala
Glan-llyn is a great outdoor centre, attracting families, schools and groups throughout the year. Operated by Urdd Gobaith Cymru, it already provides a range of climbing, walking and water activities on Llyn Tegid, Bala. You'd think it had it all! But through Snowdonia -- one big adventure, new accommodation facilities have been developed and a new cycle path linking to nearby Llanuwchllyn is being created.

Mid wales trip to Aberystwyth
Day trip from Birmingham to Aberystwyth and back, on a lovely sunny sunday (3/7/16). A5 to Shrewsbury, Welshpool, Newtown, Llangurig, Aberystwyth, then north up through the lower snowdonia, to Machynlleth, towards Dolgellau, then A470 and A458 back to Welshpool and home. 250 miles in all.
Arguably some of England's greatest biking roads can be found in Wales.
Sorry this is all non-helmet camera footage, as my last helmet broke and I haven't fitted a mount for my helmet camera to my new helmet yet. But I have bought a little Lumix Lx100, which takes great 60P footage, and is small enough to carry around easily.
