Vedado is the leafy, more modern neighborhood which sprung up when the upper classes started migrating from Habana Vieja and other historic areas. The architecture here is a wonderful mix of Art Deco, Art Nouveau, and modernism.

Photos of Vedado's beautiful mansions and famous buildings from 1920s-1950s Cuba, and the nearby Almendares river that divides Vedado and Miramar neighborhoods, which are west of Old Havana. Photos of monument Marti, beautiful avenues Presidents and Paseo, classical museums, theatres, famous hotels, seacoast restaurants, schools De La Salle, Trelles and St. George's,
university, etc. I put those pictures of Cuba because I miss the beautiful land and I want others to enjoy the beauty that the island of Cuba had, and I love the USA. I would never go back to Cuba where there is communism that ended with my beautiful Cuba and the people, where I lived until I was 15 years old.

Old Havana is wonderful but at some point you have leave the old and see the new or at least relatively new and that would be the chic Vedado neighbourhood. Calle 23 is the main commercials street and the part near the malecon is callled La Rampa. There is much to see and discover here. Join me as my attention is drawn to several aspects of this neighbourhood.

This is a free lookout located in the Vedado neighborhood of Havana, Cuba. Simply walk into the building and take the elevator to either the 9th or 10th floor. There, you can look out through the windows and see one of the most spectacular views of the whole city. It is ABSOLUTELY FREE. You can see all the major Havana landmarks and major hotels, including the Habana Libre Hotel, The Presidente Hotel, The Hotel Nacional and the Hotel Capri. In addition, you get a fantastic view of the ocean, and The Focsa building. Be sure to check it out next tie you are exploring Vedado.

Havana, Cuba - Malecón HD (2017)
The Malecón (officially Avenida de Maceo ) is a broad esplanade , roadway and seawall which stretches for 8 km (5 miles) along the coast in Havana, Cuba, from the mouth of Havana Harbor in Old Havana , along the north side Of the Centro Habana neighborhood, ending in the Vedado neighborhood. New businesses are appearing on the esplanade due to economic reforms in Cuba that now allow Cubans to own private businesses.

Relax, use the internet, have a drink, in the air condition, Habana Libre Hotel lobby. It's absolutely free to enter the lobby and relax on the lounge chairs. You can even walk up to the mezzanine and just chill. You can even use the WIFI for only $10 (CUC) per hour.
