A quick tour of the main spots in Golders Green, London, a North London suburb. We mostly explore the high street and shop-filled areas. Since the area is quite well-known for being a popular location for the religious Jewish community, I've featured a lot of Jewish facilities in this video too.

London Art Deco D - I (Part 2 of 3)
This is part two of a three part show about London's Art Deco buildings, accompanied by what I hope is reasonably appropriate music (although not what I would have chosen to take to a desert island). The buildings are shown alphabetically, although that created something of a problem: should I call them by their original names, or should I call them by the name by which they are now known? In the end I settled for their original names, omitting the word the, but I'm sure mistakes have crept in. Each image in the show is named and its postcode given to enable viewers to locate it easily.
Featured buildings: Daily Express Building, Daily Telegraph Building, Daimler Car Hire Garage Herbrand Street, Danson Road Bexley, Derry and Toms, Dorset House, Du Cane Court, East Finchley Station, Fire Brigade Headquarters, Florin Court (this is the Whitehaven Mansions of Hercule Poirot fame), Forest Croft, Gaumont Palace Chelsea (now Habitat), Gillette Building, Greybrook House, Grosvenor Estate, Hartington Court, Hay's Wharf, High Point, Hoover Factory (now Building), Ibex House, Ideal House (now Palladium House), Imperial Airways Building (now National Audit Office), Isokon.
For many of the main shots, I used a wide angle lens at or near to the widest angle of 16mm (EFL). Sometimes, I would have preferred something even shorter. I was often forced to tilt the camera, resulting in converging verticals which were subsequently corrected in software. If circumstances allowed me to hold the camera upright, I later had to crop almost half of the lower part of the image. For many of the detail shots of (for example) low reliefs which were often quite high on the walls, I used a telephoto lens and subsequently corrected the inevitable distorted perspective and cropped the image. A professional photographer may have a used a specialist Perspective Control lens with tilt-and-shift features.
I tried to remove digitally as much extraneous detail as possible (cars, people, etc.) but it often simply wasn't possible.

Charity Shops In Need
Though sales are up British charity shops, similar to good will stores, are in need of clothing donations. As Amy Guttman reports, the recession has people holding on to old clothes instead of buying.

Camden Town, London
Things to do in Camden Town
London's Camden Town offers an eclectic mix of markets, cuisines and live music venues.
Camden Town has been a residential area since the 1790s. But it was only the development of the Grand Union Canal and the improved railway transport that turned it into a bustling part of London. Today, visitors and locals gather here to hunt for treasures in Camden's markets, stroll by Regent's Canal, sample cuisine from around the world and listen to live music. Many famous people, including Dylan Thomas, Walter Sickert and Amy Winehouse, have made Camden their home.
Camden Lock Market – selling crafts, books, clothing, jewellery and fast food.
Camden Lock Village – clothing and accessories, as well as a range of unusual items.
Camden Market – originally named Buck Street, this market sells fashion for all tastes.
Inverness Street Market – a few of the original fruit stands remain but most have been taken over by footwear and souvenir stalls.
Stables Market – a mix of permanent shops and stalls selling household items, antiques, alternative clothing and food.
Camden has always been a hub for London's live music scene, with legendary venues that have launched many big names. Check out Koko, the Underworld and Electric Ballroom to catch the latest bands. You can also see top jazz and blues performances at the Jazz Café or Blues Kitchen.
Watch theatrical performances from top UK companies such as the RSC as well as films, art installations and gigs at The Roundhouse. You can also catch comedy at the Camden Highlight or see an eclectic mix of fringe performances at the Etcetera theatre.
