OURS IS A MOVEMENT LED BY A NEW GENERATION
of both young and old, in backyards, playgrounds, parks, schools and offices - a generation we weren't born into, but choose to be a part of. United by purpose, we're putting our hearts and minds into becoming a truly healthy generation - Gen H.
Vivo For Healthier Generations Calgary - Personal Training with Derek Sharman
Personal Training at Vivo For Healthier Generations Calgary here with my client Gary.
A few things I've been working on both with my clients and on myself:
#1 Video Analysis/Feedback with Clients
#2 Drew Doughty Leg Training - Drew Doughty is a defenceman with the LA Kings who gets the most icetime of anyone in the NHL. Short shifts of full-out intensity, followed by 'non active' rest breaks. Coupled with my favorite Plyo Exercises it creates a fun super-burn on the legs and lungs thats athletically functional to increase lower body strength, speed, and endurance.

These interviews were completed as inspiration for The Neighbourhood: Sights and Sounds is a public art film. The process was spearheaded by Coventry Hills resident and filmmaker Paige K Boudreau. Boudreau spent weeks connecting with community members regarding what the community means to them.

Vivo's Gen H Training
We received funding from the government of Alberta to create, deliver and validate Vivo’s Gen H instructor training program. This training program seeks to enhance the knowledge and skill sets of recreation instructors so they can more effectively and efficiently deliver meaningful activity programs. This training was designed by staff across all departments at Vivo, as well as in partnership with content experts from Mount Royal University. Since August 2017, 150 Vivo instructors have participated in the training. As a result, program participants have been more engaged and receive more intentionally developed physical activity experiences because their instructors are aware of developmental milestones, best practices and how to teach for maximum impact. This training has been integral in ensuring all of our instructors have the same training experience and baseline knowledge. As a result, they are able to provide program participants and families in the community with consistently positive and impactful experiences at Vivo.
