Fly Into an Active Volcano - White Island - New Zealand
Flying into New Zealand’s most active Volcano with Volcanic Air is an awesome adventure that starts from a jetty on the edge of Lake Rotorua. My sister and I started the day with a visit to the Volcanic Air sales office located near Rotarua’s attractive water front to inquire about the tours available. They offer a range of options, some flight only, others a combination of flight, landings and guided walking tours, using their own fleet of helicopters and float planes. We opted for a helicopter tour that included two advertised landings, the first on Mount Tarawera to see the massive tear in the earth’s crust caused by the 1886 eruption, the second on White Island, an active volcano in the Bay of Plenty. The Island looks like the result of an atomic explosion that has created the kind of eerie landscape one might expect to see on some far distant planet.
I could describe the journey in more detail, but choosing the words to do justice to this amazing flight to witness at first-hand nature creating New Zealand’s breath taking landscape is beyond me, so please sit back and join me for a once in a lifetime trip to see natures awesome power at work.
Thank you to the team at Volcanic Air for making this a truly memorable experience.

New Zealand: Where you helicopter into an active volcano
White Island is off the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island and is currently the country’s most active volcano. The island is inhabited and is only home to a former sulphur mining station which was shut down in 1914 after 10 workers were killed when part of the volcano’s rim collapsed. Since then, the island has been privately owned and is frequented by scientists and tourists from around the world.

HELICOPTERS IN ROTORUA /// VLOG #94
There are some jobs you know nothing about unless you're working in this field. For example, helicopter pilots. How hard is it? How many people are working as pilots in new Zealand? How far can a helicopter fly on one tank? To find answers we went to Rotorua and had a chat with the local helicopter company.
