Volk's Railway Brighton
The Volk's railway in Brighton, UK, claims to be the oldest operating electric train in the world. Regardless of whether this is true, it is definitely a funny experience to go on this train along the beach.

Volk's Electric Railway - Oldest electric Railway in the World
This is Volk's Electric Railway from 1883 - oldest electric Railway in the World. It runs at Brighton on the promenade from Aquarium Station to Black Rock Station, with Halfway Station in the middle.
This is a 110V DC system with three rails. 13 pedestrian crossing points. Max speed in 4th gear of 13mph. 3 Stations.
Today we get a ride at the front on the cab. Watch as the driver (Phil I think his name was) takes us along and explains a little as we go. It was kind of him to offer a front row seat to get good shots. It is a jerky railway, so my Sony 810 camera was using its steady-shot lens to full effect today.
It only cost about a fiver to go (2019 prices), so I do recommend the 25 min ride there and back.
You may notice some shots are in reverse. This was because they were shot on the outward journey, so I have edited them in backwards as cutaway shots. One shot is the beach, and others include people that walk as the give-away.

Things to do in Brighton: Volk's Railway & Brighton Marina
We're heading to the East Side! On this very, very blusery day we decided to take the Victorian era Volk's Railway to Brighton Marina with the boys. The world's oldest still operating electric railway is by far the best way to get to Marina.
Marina has got loads to do for little ones, including a little funfair (open on weekends & during school holidays), various boat excursions for the older kids, globalls golf and a bowling alley. There are plenty of restaurants along the seafront + an independent pub Master Mariner where we stopped for a tipple.
We also reveal our guilty mum moments of the week and explain to the kids what red wine is.
