Oceana Nottingham discriminates against disabled man - refuses him entry to the club.
Whilst being out for a few drinks on Saturday night (01/08/2015) we decided to go to Oceana. Whilst waiting to go in I witnessed this man attempting to go into the club. The bouncer firstly refuses to let him in stating that he needs to speak to the manager. A moment later when being challenged by the man as to why he can't gain access to the club, the bouncer then states no dress code insinuating the man isn't dressed correctly, I thought a shirt was acceptable? This is absolute discrimination towards this disabled gentleman. And for someone representing a 'multi-award winning club' I think it's a disgrace for him to think this is acceptable in our day and age and clearly doesn't adhere to the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 which clearly states;
For the purposes of section 19, a provider of services discriminates against a disabled person if —
(a)for a reason which relates to the disabled person's disability, he treats him less favourably than he treats or would treat others to whom that reason does not or would not apply; and
(b)he cannot show that the treatment in question is justified.
To me this is not justified. The man has dressed himself smartly to the best of his ability but is clearly getting discriminated against due to his disability.

Shocking CCTV: Police officer filmed firing Taser at naked man

CCTV footage shows a police officer taser a naked man during a strip search at Melksham Police station, Wiltshire. PC Lee Birch discharged the taser without warning after Daniel Dove threw his pants at the officer during a strip search. The 23-year-old had been arrested for being drunk and disorderly outside a nightclub that evening. The CCTV shows PC Birch unclipping the 50,000-volt weapon from his holster within seconds of entering the cell and fires at Dove who collapses to the ground and curls up in a ball. PC Birch was then charged with assault and misconduct but found not guilty. He now faces an internal inquiry and investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission. Report by Sarah Kerr.

British Team Gymnastics Championships 1988
The 1988 British Team Championships was noticeable for one particular performer, Camberley Gymnastics Club's Karen Kennedy. Scoring 9.95 on floor and 9.90 on vault, Karen was highlighted by Colin Moynahan MP as team leader extraordinaire. That she is and my friend too, who I still look up to as one of my favourite ever gymnasts. I still call her Karen-who-went-to-the-Olympics (she went to Seoul in 1988). Show me a better straight Yurchenko if you can. The team competition was won by Heathrow Gymnastics Club who dominated in this era with the likes of Laura Thomas, Dawn Farrey, Leila Brown and another of my favourites (albeit also a rival!) Cathy Baines. Most footage is of Camberley Gymnastics Club competitors – Karen, me – Jo Gunston, Sarah Moody, Kerstin Allen, Rachel Edwards, Sian Edwards – thanks to my mum and dad Jacky and Garth Gunston as battery power was limited in those days - but Heathrow gymnasts are featured on floor and vault. Other gymnasts such as third-placed Nottingham Trent also appear with the likes of Jo Prescott and Lisa Law.
