AMAZING ATACAMA DESERT ROAD TRIP | Flamingos | Salt Flats | Alpine Lakes
We rented a car in San Pedro de Atacama and drove through the Atacama Desert. Laguna Chaxa was our first stop which is a huge salt flat region surrounded by the Andes Mountains and filled with flamingos! Next were two gorgeous blue lakes - Laguna Miscanti and Laguna Miniques where we had a picnic with a view!

WHO ARE KARA AND NATE?!
New here? We are full-time travel vloggers with a goal of visiting 100 countries before 2019. We make daily travel videos. In these videos you can expect to see the best foods and adventures of every country we visit. ;)
Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started traveling full-time January 10, 2016. While daily vlogging was not the original plan, we were having way too many cool experiences not to share every single day! Now travel vlogging is our full-time gig and we feel like we have the greatest job in the world! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)
We’ve pulled inspiration from several of our favorite travel vloggers on YouTube, such as: +CaseyNeistat +FunForLouis +Jon Olsson +Mr Ben Brown , and any other talented travel vloggers that YouTube’s algorithm will hopefully connect us with ;)

Travel Vlog 5 Days : CHILE (Santiago & San Pedro De Atacama)
Friends we have traveled to Santiago and San Pedro De Atacama. We had a 5 days tours where we have covered some of the most beautiful places in this country. We started our travel from Montevideo Uruguay. Visa took around 1 month to process so plan your travel accordingly. We booked our flights through Sky Airlines as they process most affordable prices. Demographically CHILE is longest country in the worlds covered by Andes Mountain from the East. Santiago is the Cultural, Political and Financial center of of CHILE.
We visited Cajon Del Maipo. Cajón del Maipo is a gorge in central Chile, southeast of Santiago. It's home to El Morado Natural Monument, a mountain reserve with trails to the San Francisco Glacier and Laguna Morales.
Next Day we went to Calama which took 2 hrs from flight and from there we took bus transfer to San Pedro de Atacama. These transfer shuttles are easily available from Airport.
During our three days stay in San Pedro De Atacama we saw Valle De La Luna, EL Tatio, did Sky Gazing, took a Dip in Hot Spring, visited Laguna Miscanti and visited some near by towns.
Before returning back to Montevideo we spend one day in Santiago and Saw Valle Nevado which is Snow Mountain 35 km from Santiago and famous for weekend traveler. It provides varied sports activities like Snow Boarding. Best time to travel is June to September.
We ended our trip and tried to capture as many pictures and video to share this with you.
Desierto Atacama (Chile) Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Desierto Atacama in Chile.
The Atacama Desert is situated in South America in the north of Chile and, at its centre, is the most arid region on Earth with salt water lakes, desert mountain areas and endless fields of sand dunes and stone in which the forces of nature have formed an extraordinary landscape. The Atacama extends between the Pacific Ocean and the Cordilleras. An area of stone and sand that is perforated only by various frequently dried out salt lakes. Salar De Atacama contains several water basins that become flooded with the waters of the Rio San Pedro that has a high mineral content. The largest and most accessible lagoon is that of the Lago Chaxa. It is inhabited by wildlife that is able to obtain its nourishment from salt water. The Valle De La Luna is particularly impressive and in primeval times was a lake whose bed was elevated and developed due to tectonic activity. When the setting sun throws its shadows onto the landscape, the play of colour is quite remarkable and the Atacama Desert is transformed once again into a land of enchantment and mystique.

Welcome to Citylogue by KC !
Finally arrived in San Pedro de Atacama ! Noted as Top 2 among the 52 Places To Go in 2017 by The New York Times:
12.03.2017 # Day 1, Take off & plan-day
Heading north, taking the flight from Santiago to Calama, one of the most popular entrance to arrive San Pedro. There is an 1.5 hours bus trip between Calama to San Pedro Village. I decided to took a share private bus instead of public ones, ( I chose Licancabur as recommanded by Le Routard, but their are plenties of choice at Calama airport so don't need to be worry or booked in advanced ) which would better satisfied our complete tourist over-excited mood ! haha...
Arrived San Pedro Village by 4:30 PM, which is actually slightly late to take off any adventurous routes; however, it was actually even a better thing to take a pause and plan your plan at place, which makes the rest of the days in SPA way much smoother ! Strongly recommended.
This is channel my adventure in South America as a solo backpacker ! Thirteen days round journey from Chile (Santiago - San Pedro de Atacama - Valparaiso) to Bolivia. Bringing your eyes through the films, hope to share how wonderful and beautiful this planet actually is, to discover many places or people we don't know... and share this unique experience of being in the middle of no where, being no one with you.
Citylogue is a outbound chapter in my personal website Kaialogue by KC, where I put down notes about all those amazing cities or countries I've visited. Meeting new friends and old ones, reveal the energy of what make each places so unique and exciting.
Put on your backpack and join me hanging around this little world...

❤ FAQs:
↣ Are you a full time Youtuber?
I work full time online as a 'Digital Nomad' which means I get to travel the world with my fiance (Ed) and not be tied to living in any specific country. I do Freelance PR, teach courses on Udemy (check out my profile here - and of course blogging and Youtube.
↣ What does Pauper To Princess mean?
My passion is all about living like a fabulous Princess on a little Pauper budget. I visit beautiful countries, and buy fabulous clothes but I'm always looking for a way to save money and be thrifty!
↣ When did you start blogging?
I created my blog in 2012 when I was living in America. I was thrifting so much that I wanted to start sharing my outfits online and inspiring other people to look in charity shops. Now it's become all about my Digital Nomad journey and what it's like to be a female nomad.
↣ Where's your accent from?
I'm from the South of England but I currently live out of a suitcase travelling all over the world.
↣ Where is your favourite place in the world?
I fell deeply in love with Gili Air when we visited as a paradise getaway, but Chiang Mai is my favourite place to live. Plus of course, there's no place like home (Dorset in England).

Trip to San Pedro de Atacama: Day 9 & 10
later
Three day Bolivian Salt Flat Tour (Uyuni to San Pedro di Atacama)
We got off the overnight bus to Uyuni and booked onto a three day tour across the salt flats and desert to San Pedro Di Atacama in Chile.
The first stop was this train cemetery. There are two trains here, one British and one American.
They sit here as a remnant of this part of the Bolivian railway system that has been closed for over 100 years.
Later that afternoon we then made our way to the salt flats. The salt flats used to be part of the Pacific Ocean and have since raised up 3600 Meters out of the water. The flats themselves are 30m deep with salt!
After taking some funny photos, toying with perspective, we moved on towards the fish island.
The fish island is famous for having enormous cacti. The largest one on the island is 11m tall! After visiting the fish island, we set off across the salt flats one more time, stopping briefly to take in an amazing sunset, before bedding in for the night in a salt hotel in Atulcha.
The next morning we were up early and on our way once again. The first stop was Ollague Volcano ????, amazing and active.
After that, we climbed higher into the Andes to three lagoons, each boasting its own flock of amazing flamingoes. We kept climbing until we reached the Siloli desert. This is the highest and driest desert in the entire world! We saw some Chinchillas and the amazing ‘rock tree’ - a remnant from a volcanic eruption, and a very sacred landmark in the area.
We made our way down from the heights of the desert to a camp at 4700m where we spent the evening star gazing from a hot spring, and wrapped up warm for bed.
The next morning we were up early and set off towards the Chilean border. One more stop at a Lagoon on the way, and by 11 am we were in San Pedro de Atacama where we would spend a few days relaxing before heading down to Santiago.
All Roads Lead to San Pedro de Atacama
San Pedro de Atacama is a small traveler's pueblo centered in the most bizarre and driest landscape on Earth--the Atacama Desert. With the best stargazing on the globe and a shocking variety of otherworldly terrains like Moon Valley and the Atacama Salt Flats, visiting San Pedro de Atacama truly feels like going to a different planet.
