WAIHEKE ISLAND / AUCKLAND NEW ZEALAND / VLOG #34
White sand beaches, Wineries and Vineyards, Superb restaurants, Nature Walks.... all in this one amazing island just 40 minutes outside Auckland. WAIHEKE ISLAND
Little Palm Beach???? Waiheke Island, New Zealand
Hiking over Waiheke Island New Zealand 4K
Our next stop after Auckland we traveled on the ferry to ‘New York Times top ten island destinations in the world.’ Waiheke. This gorgeous New Zealand microcosm feels like a town from the future with its highest density of electric charge points per square kilometre in the Southern Hemisphere. We rock climbed, hiked, hitched and kayaked round this must see island. Sunsets in a vineyard on Waiheke, are truly magical.
We’re in NZ for a year and more videos showing our backpacking adventure are on the way. This is the start of a vlog of our walking and hiking journey over the incredible natural beauty NZ
has to offer! We’re doing it on a shoestring budget and trying to save the dollars by camping and eating as cheap as possible.

New Zealand Adventure: Waiheke Island Hike
I head to the wonderful island of Waiheke, New Zealand to do some hiking before my zip lining adventure later in the day. Enjoy the point-of-view footage from my Google Glass as a scale uncharted territory, climb up a tree only to get stuck, and encounter the remains of a large animal that may or may not be hazardous to my health.
Stay tuned to future videos!

EcoZip Adventure Waiheke Island, New Zealand
Waiheke Island is just a 30 minute Ferry ride from Aukland. Then Eco Zip already have complimentary transportation available for you. This is something you defiantly have to do if you ever visit Aukland New Zealand. I had the best time of my life. Top 5 Things to do in Waiheke - Auckland, New Zealand
One of the treasures of Auckland, we've had some of our best weekends away on Waiheke Island and now we share with you some of our favourite spots.
Starting with a bit of info on how to get to Waiheke we then head over to our activities.
Stop 1 - EcoZip Adventures - Beautiful in every way shape and form. This is one of the most fun ways to see wonderful Waiheke zooming over the top. The forest walk back to the top was absolutely amazing as well where your guide teaches you about New Zealand forestry.
Address: 150 Trig Hill Rd, Waiheke Island, Auckland 1081
Hours: Monday - Sunday 8am–5pm
Stop 2 - Ocean View Road - The main street of Waiheke Island hosts access to wonderful Oneroa beach as well as plentiful food spots and beach stores. Don't forget to stop off at Whittaker's Music Museum if you love historic instruments. It's a small cash donation for entry and make sure you call ahead to find out if there's a live performance on.
Located just off Oneroa road on:
Address: 2 Korora Rd, Oneroa, Auckland 1081
Hours: Hours: Monday - Sunday 1–4pm
Stop 3 - Waiheke beaches! Waiheke has some beautiful beaches. We stopped off at Oneroa beach but other fantastic spots are Palm Beach, Onetangi and Ostend.
Stop 4 - Experience a nature walk there are so many you can choose from. We walked little Oneroa to Fishermans rock which was a nice little trek with great views along the way.
Stop 5 - Mudbrick Restaurant and Vineyard, probably one of the most popular reasons people come to Waiheke is to experience a vineyard. If you're a lover of good food and wine this place is for you. We even manage to get a wine expert teach us the ropes during our wine tasting.
Address: 126 Church Bay Rd, Waiheke Island, Oneroa 1971
Hours: Monday - Sunday 0am–9pm

There are only a few places and properties left on the island where you feel you have stepped back in time. The owners have lived here for several years in this wonderful location looking down on the world below. This site is a real gem; a special find. Blackpool was always the quieter location, the sleepy little sister of Oneroa where you went to dig for cockles, ride your bike, muck around in a canoe and a great place to walk and explore. The riders on their horses used to casually plod past; the pony club is still up the road. This area still has its old island charm, one of the very few places that hasn't changed. This is one street that is right on the water and actually still retains the past important ingredients of peacefulness and pure natural beauty; no one really bothers to drive up here it is wonderful. This is a perfect place to have your Sealegs; park it in the garage, drive down the road and into the water.
On offer is an older style two storey bach and below a large garage. However it is all about the huge site of around 2,259 sq m, the elevation where the house is, the great contour in front and behind the house is near flat. The views are fantastic; right out to Maraetai and Mellons Bay lights, mountains and ranges in the background and in the foreground expansive beach and sea views. To the West a rural landscape of Church Bay area and sunsets. If you have been looking for something special to build that is walking distance to Oneroa village; transport is just three minutes or so walk away, ferry and all amenities so close; sunsets, sun, amazing views, tranquillity, privacy and a size to build a decent size house this could just be what you are looking for. This as far as I am concerned is the best site on the street; it has the winning formula; a rare gem in a treasure of a location.
