The Sherwoods Foresters
Traditions, Battle Honours and the 'Esprit De Corps' are the things Regiments are made of. They promote feelings of pride, honour, trust and above all else a sense of belonging.
Men are bound together into a family by these things and the bonds are powerful and lasting. Men will fight for their Country when ordered, but they will fight for the Honour of their Regiment simply because it is their family, and they are part of it.
One such 'Family' was The Sherwood Foresters. The regiment of the Counties of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire. Its men in the main were recruited from these two counties and this again helped make them into one of the nations most famous Regiment. (The Sherwood Foresters amalgamated with the Worcestershire Regiment in February 1970 to form The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters regiment.

The special remembrance event took place on Sunday 29th July 2018 to pay homage to the Sikhs and Indian forces who are commemorated at the Hollybrook Memorial in Southampton.
The event was attended by prominent individuals, including the Southampton Sheriff, Councillor Peter Baillie, Southampton Councillor Satvir Kaur (Cabinet Member for Homes & Culture), Mr Alastair Goodall – Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Dal Singh Dhesi, Ranvir Singh Virdi, Ranjit Singh Randhawa and Sohan Singh from the Sikh Community & Youth Service UK, Saranjit Singh Karir and Giani Parpoor Singh from the Singh Sabha Gurdwara Southampton.

Historical Information
The Hollybrook Memorial commemorates by name almost 1,900 servicemen and women of the Commonwealth land and air forces* whose graves are not known, many of whom were lost in transports or other vessels torpedoed or mined in home waters. The memorial also bears the names of those who were lost or buried at sea, or who died at home but whose bodies could not be recovered for burial. There are 14 members of Indian Forces commemorated here who are now known to have been cremated at Patcham Down, Sussex. Almost one third of the names on the memorial are those of officers and men of the South African Native Labour Corps, who died when the troop transport Mendi sank in the Channel following a collision on 21 February 1917. Other vessels sunk with significant loss of life were: HS Anglia, a hospital ship sunk by mine off Dover on 17 November 1915. SS Citta Di Palermo, an Italian transport carrying Commonwealth troops, sunk by mine off Brindisi on 8 January 1916. In rescuing survivors, two Royal Naval Otranto drifters were themselves mined and blown up. HMTs Donegal and Warilda, ambulance transports torpedoed and sunk between Le Havre and Southampton on 17 April 1917 and 3 August 1918. HS Glenart Castle, a hospital ship torpedoed and sunk off Lundy on 26 February 1918. SS Galway Castle, torpedoed and sunk in the Atlantic on 12 September 1918. RMS Leinster, the Irish mail boat, torpedoed and sunk in the Irish Sea on 10 October 1918. Among those commemorated on the Hollybrook Memorial is Field Marshall Lord Kitchener, Secretary of State for War, who died when the battle cruiser HMS Hampshire was mined and sunk off Scapa Flow on 5 June 1916. The memorial stands in Southampton (Hollybrook) Cemetery, behind the plot of First World War graves near the main entrance. The cemetery also contains burials of the Second World War and war graves of other nationalities. * Officers and men of the Commonwealth's navies who have no grave but the sea are commemorated on memorials elsewhere.

B.A.P.S visit All Saint's Church, Breadsall, Derby. Derbyshire, UK
B.A.P.S Have been to this location and taken numerous photographs of this delightful Church that was mentioned in the doomsday book as it is the site of a paranormal investigation in the very near future, if and when permissions are granted as the B.A.P.S team will not trespass!!
All Saints Church, Breadsall was mentioned in the Domesday book as belonging to Henry de Ferrers and being worth four pounds. The text includes reference to a knight, a church, meadows and a mill.
The church of All Saints has a very fine war memorial in the style of a Celtic cross within the churchyard, commemorating fourteen men who died during the First World War and nine men and one woman who lost their lives during the Second World War.
