Water Clarity on St. Pete Beach (Pass-a-Grille)
People often ask me where they can find a beach with clear water. I'm never sure exactly how clear they need it to be. So here's an example of the water clarity on Pass-a-Grille Beach, which is at the southern end of St. Pete Beach, Florida. This is as clear as it gets. It is not always this clear. We need several days of fairly calm conditions for the water to get like this. Usually it is somewhat less clear than this. Gulf water on the beaches further south (below Tampa Bay) have the potential of getting much clearer than this.
The Floridian Treasure Island Florida, Pinellas County #2
The Best Cuban sandwiches in Pinellas County
When Val and Ted Dilar moved from Tampa to Treasure Island in 1992 they could not have know that within a year they would be the owners of one of the most popular restaurants in the Tampa Bay area.
Soon after settling in Treasure Island Val began to crave a quality Cuban sandwich made famous in her home town of Tampa. Cuban sandwiches were available at several beach area locations but according to Val's discriminating taste, Missed something. That's when Val and Ted hit upon the idea of offering the beaches a quality Cuban sandwich and the search for that perfect location began.
An insurance office located in downtown Treasure Island became available and Val and Ted's big adventure began.
The summer of 1993 was witness to the transformation of 230 107th Avenue from insurance office to restaurant and the Floridian opened its doors. Armed with a secret recipe and a dedication to quality, the Floridian quickly became a beach favorite for diners craving a great Cuban sandwich.
The Floridian's grand opening was on the 4th of July weekend, 1993. Val and Ted prepared a special Grand Opening Menu which included their now famous Authentic Cuban Sandwich and many of the items that today remain a staple of The Floridian.
Shortly after The Floridian opened, rave reviews began to pour in including a December 1993 article in the Beach Life newspaper which called The Floridian one more little treasure to remind you that when you are in Florida the finest things in life are usually just around the corner.
The Floridian participated in the Taste of Treasure Island celebration in 1994 and was the recipient of a poem that was written by a Treasure Island resident and published in the Island Reporter. Speaking of newspapers, The Floridian was reviewed for a second time by Beach Life in an article that asked If your taste buds relish the thought of Ybor City, take heart -- it's closer than you think.
All of the bay area learned just how good The Floridian's food was when in 1997 the St. Petersburg Times proclaimed the Floridian's trademark sandwich to be the
Best Cuban Sandwich in Tampa Bay.
This honor was followed six months later with The Floridian being named by local television channel Fox 13's Taste of Tampa Bay's Favorite Cuban Sandwich. The Floridian's success was also noted in a Treasure Island Sun article from 1998.
The Floridian underwent a major change in 1998 when Val and Ted decided to remodel their restaurant. A new roof design and covered patio were added to the restaurant giving the Floridian a more tropical flavor. The new Floridian looked so good the City of Treasure Island issued a proclamation of beatification to Val and Ted.
With the new look and the same great food the rave reviews continued including articles in the St. Pete Times, Tropic Views and Tampa Bay News.
Today, The Floridian continues it's tradition of serving the very best Cuban sandwich in the Tampa Bay area. In addition to The Floridian's famous Cuban sandwich, The Floridian offers a variety of other sandwiches and The Floridian's popular Black Beans dishes and soups. The Floridian also offers a variety of drinks including the coldest draft beer on the beach.
If you are in a hurry be sure to call in advance to take advantage of The Floridian's take out service. You can contact the Floridian at 367-6662.
If you are spending the day on the beach, having a party, picnic, business meeting, or going to the big game and tailgating it, The Floridian offers party trays made with their famous Cuban sandwiches.

A motorist who shot anded a man who shoved him to the ground during a heated row over a handicapped parking space likely won't be charged, police have said.Michael Drejka, 47, was cleared by police in Thursday's shooting of 28-year-old Markeis McGlockton in Clearwater, Florida, where an argument over proper parking etiquette took a deadly turn. The shooting 'is within the bookends of stand your ground and within the bookends of force being justified,' Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri said at a recorded press conference on Friday.'I'm not saying I agree with it, but I don't make that call,' the sheriff added.Surveillance video of the incident shows that McGlockton was riding in a 2016 Chrysler 2000 driven by his girlfriend Britany Jacobs, 25, when she pulled into the parking lot of the Circle-A Food Store at 3.27pm. Share this article Share Jacobs is seen parking in a handicapped spot on the side of the building, although there are several other spaces free in the parking lot.McGlockton and his five-year-old son get out of the car and go into the convenience store while his girlfriend Jacobs waits in the driver's seat.Soon after, Drejka parks in a Toyota 4-Runner and gets out, quickly spotting that the car parked in the handicapped spot does not have a placard or decal. Drejka begins scolding the driver and gestures toward the other empty spots in the parking lot. Police say the argument became 'heated' but did not involve any threats. As the drivers remonstrated, a witness entered the store and informed the clerk that there was a disturbance outside, police said. McGlockton, leaving his son in the store, rushes outside and directly up to Drejka, shoving him hard onto the ground. Drejka, who has a valid concealed carry permit, pulls out a handgun and fires within seconds of being slammed to the ground, striking McGlockton in the chest.Police say the men did not exchange words through the entire incident. McGlockton turned and stumbled back inside the store and was soon pronounced dead at an area hospital. Drejka remained at the scene and placed the gun inside his vehicle before police arrived, cops say. Investigators say he was cooperative and spoke openly with investigators about what had transpired. McGlockton's girlfriend was devastated when police declined to bring charges against Drejka. 'It's a wrongful death. It's messed up. Markeis is a good man … He was just protecting us, you know?' she told the Tampa Bay Times on Friday. 'And it hurts so bad.' Florida's self-defense law, like the laws in 26 other states, is known as 'stand your ground', authorizing deadly force in self-defense with no duty to retreat from an attacker. The Florida law stirred controversy in particular when it was successfully invoked in the shooting of Trayvon Martin.Sheriff Gualtieri said that Drejka appeared to act out of fear for his safety within the bounds of the law, but that the case would be handed over to prosecutors for a final

SUMMARY
=======
Memphis is located along the Mississippi River in southwestern Tennessee. The estimated city population in 2017 was 652,236, with a 2017 metropolitan population of 1,348,260 including adjacent suburbs and counties as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The city is considered the anchor of West Tennessee and the greater Mid-South region, which includes portions of neighboring Arkansas and Mississippi. Memphis is the seat of Shelby County, the most populous county in Tennessee. As one of the most historic and cultural cities of the southern United States, the city features a wide variety of landscapes and distinct neighborhoods.
The land of present day Memphis was first discovered by Spanish conquistador Hernando DeSoto in 1541 with his expedition into the New World. The high bluffs protecting the location from the waters of the Mississippi would then be contested between the Spanish, French, and the English as Memphis took shape. Modern Memphis was founded in 1819 by three prominent Americans: John Overton, James Winchester, and future president Andrew Jackson.Memphis grew into one of the largest cities of the Antebellum South as a market for agricultural goods, natural resources like lumber, and the American slave trade. After the American Civil War and the end of slavery, the city experienced even faster growth into the 20th century as it became among the largest world markets for cotton and lumber.
Home to Tennessee's largest African-American population, Memphis played a prominent role in the American civil rights movement and was the site of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s 1968 assassination. The city now hosts the National Civil Rights Museum—a Smithsonian affiliate institution. Since the civil rights era, Memphis has grown to become one of the nation's leading commercial centers in transportation and logistics. The city's largest employer is the multinational courier corporation FedEx, which maintains its global air hub at Memphis International Airport, making it the second-busiest cargo airport in the world.
Today, Memphis is a regional center for commerce, education, media, art, and entertainment. The city has long had a prominent music scene, with historic blues clubs on Beale Street originating the unique Memphis blues sound during early 20th century. The city's music has continued to be shaped by a multi-cultural mix of influences across the blues, country, rock n' roll, soul, and hip-hop genres. Memphis barbecue has achieved international prominence, and the city hosts the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, which attracts over 100,000 visitors to the city annually.
